We are, we are talking about the US and Israel invading Iran. How can you discuss this situation if you’re claiming no one is allowed to discuss 2 out of the 3 countries involved?
Your own comment was “They haven’t destroyed other countries” and now apparently no one was ever talking about the US or Israel.
Why are you denying your own posts?

Edited

The US and Israel haven't "invaded" Iran.

The US has bombed 7 bells out of their nuclear programme without any help from Israel who don't have the ordinance to do that.

No-one is marching into Tehran waving the Star & Bars or a Magen David so don't make silly comments.

National matters such as?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock since Labour were elected, you should at least have an idea of what those matters are.

Have you not read any UK news recently?

Lioncub2020 · 22/06/2025 07:47

If Iran's nuclear facilities are valid targets for the Americans presumably the American nuclear facilities are valid targets now. The Americans are the biggest bunch of hypocrites in the world. There is only one country that has ever used Nuclear weapons.

nomas · 22/06/2025 07:47

GentleSheep · 22/06/2025 01:46

Not really. There were definitely nuclear plants enriching uranium (they got to 88%) and with their regime's philosophy of hatred towards Israel they weren't far off having a nuclear weapon. If the bombs dropped did the job properly (I suppose there will be images of some kind coming out) then there will be no chance of them carrying on with their program at all. They'd have to start all over again.

Utter bullshit propaganda.

AnnaBalfour · 22/06/2025 07:47

Iran and the Middle East, Gaza etc are all related and interconnected so it is relevant.

SnakesAndArrows · 22/06/2025 07:47

rainingsnoring · 22/06/2025 07:41

I agree.
The UK economy is clearly in a terrible state so this is just what the UK government want. Why is it that they seem to be able to find £££ for wars but not for their own citizens?
The whole situation is sickening.

Well, no, that’s not what I or the PP were saying.

I don’t think Starmer will be welcoming this development at all, but that doesn’t mean he won’t use it as opportunistic cover.

nomas · 22/06/2025 07:46

Lifesd · 22/06/2025 01:30

Good I hope the operation has been successful and irans nuclear capability has been destroyed. Iran is a threat to the west - I don’t think we should be involved in regime change (particularly after disastrous interventions in Lebanon and Syria but I support this action.

Can you stop salivating over this? It’s obscene.

But we aren't talking about other countries are we? Again, let's stick to topic. We are talking about Iran. You can open another thread about other countries.

I think posters who stick to guidelines can choose to post whatever they like actually. You are most welcome to move to another thread if you don’t like it.

AnnaBalfour · 22/06/2025 07:44

It would be great if the innocent civilians in Iran had lovely super secure bunkers and a sophisticated alarm system for incoming attacks wouldn’t it…alas.

Trump, Netanyahu, Putin - what a disgusting bunch of angry old men with far too much power over the rest of the world.

OhCalmTheFuckDownBarbara · 22/06/2025 07:44

SnakesAndArrows · 22/06/2025 07:38

No, that’s not what she said or meant. Her point was that this is a good time to bury bad news.

Governments (of all flavours) take the opportunity to do or announce unpopular things when the population - and more importantly the media - is looking the other way.

For those with reading comprehension difficulties, the PP thinks the government will welcome this distraction from national matters, not that this military action is intended to cause the distraction.

Sofiewoo · 22/06/2025 07:31

@mrsrtobinson Gaza isn't a country.

Palestine is though and only a minority of people deny that.

Palestine is a country split in two halves.

The West Bank with Mahoud Abbas as a democratically elected president and
Gaza that elected a member of the Fatah Party in 2007.

Following that election in Gaza there was a brief Civil War when Hamas fighters took control of the Gaza Strip, while Fatah officials were either taken as prisoners, executed, or expelled.

There have been no elections since then and Gaza has been controlled by a terrorist group which is a proxy of Iran.

I just can’t take this in, the U.S. have bombed three nuclear (NUCLEAR) sites. What will this do to people on the ground there? What will this mean for the world?

Many Iranians, especially women, are celebrating this. Do none of you know how oppressed they are? This could be a good thing for them. Take out the god awful current regime.

And you think they have come together with Trump for this reason ? Surely you dont think that- 🤯😶‍🌫️

Edited

No-one is saying they’ve conspired with Trump or anyone else, that would be ridiculous. But government uses major news as a cover to slip difficult or unpopular things in under the radar while the public is too caught up in events to notice.

On 9/11 a Labour aide called Jo Moore advised the government that ‘It is now a very good day to get out anything we want to bury.’ She was implying 9/11 was a good day to bury bad news while the public were too caught up in up in events to notice - in this case a change to local authority pensions. She later tried to use the day of Princess Margaret’s funeral in 2002, in the same way.

As recently as earlier this year the DWP very quietly published a series of damning disability benefits related reports at 4pm on Friday 2 May, on the eve of a bank holiday and on a day when the news was dominated by the results of the local elections held the day before.

SnakesAndArrows · 22/06/2025 07:38

OhCalmTheFuckDownBarbara · 22/06/2025 06:57

Right, so this is all just a distraction for benefit reforms? Now I understand.

Gaza isn't a country.

What other examples do you have?

Well Iran may shortly be added to the list if Israel, along with the US, decides to continues its actions if Iran doesn't capitulate enough. As I have said before, the Israeli government now has bloodlust and believes it can do anything it wants, so it will likely try and continue its illegal war with the help of the US.

Oh, I guess destroying Gaza is absolutely fine then.

Sofiewoo · 22/06/2025 07:34

mrsrtobinson · 22/06/2025 07:26

Which ones ??

Afghanistan.
Iraq.

Is your memory incredibly short? We don’t have to go very far back to see evidence of the US chucking it’s willy around, destroying other counties and displacing civilians.

Tiredofwhataboutery · 22/06/2025 07:33

TooBigForMyBoots · 22/06/2025 01:52

They weren't far off having a nuclear weapon?

Iran is/was way off having a nuclear weapon. If it was close the US and the nuclear watchdogs would have known, said and warned of it.

They were warning about it. The International Atomic Energy Agency warned in May that Iran was amassing uranium at 60%.

rainingsnoring · 22/06/2025 07:33

Absolutely imbecilic. So much for the peace loving president.
We can only hope that this doesn't escalate as much as I fear it could.
