Silly things that give you the rage

Maybe its cos I'm peri but we were out for a meal and someone was eating chicken wings and being very meticulous about using a knife and fork to eat them and very slowly. It was holding up the next course for everyone.

Do you have any examples of getting the rage over something silly 🤣

Apparently, I now not only have to ‘Believe in Better’ (Sky), but also ‘Believe in Chicken (KFC).

I hate this, really hate people standing way too close to me in a queue. Just why?!

Agreed, but I also hate when the last person in the queue stands about 10ft away from everyone else then you join the queue where you think it ends and some nob declares "I'm in the queue!!" (Happened to me at a pharmacy a few months ago, made me want to go off on one at the stupid man)

Zov · 27/06/2025 20:31

Proofreading a post, and seeing NO errors in it, then posting it, and seeing an error within a 325th of a second!!!!!! Hmm

Zov · 27/06/2025 20:30

People saying 'handhold please,' sometimes when they've just burnt a hole in their DH's shirt (with the iron.)

People who say 'mat leave' instead of maternity leave...

'And that's the tweet/and that's the post/and that's the thread!' (Someone giving an opinion as if it's a bloody fact!) 🙄

iseethembloom · 26/06/2025 22:58

People posting

Amen.

on Facebook posts. Really very annoying.

Most fashionable or trending turns of phrase, especially (but not limited to) calling a room a ‘space’. “What a beautiful space.” Give over. You’re just copying magazines and the television.

CruCru · 26/06/2025 17:51

I have someone else who keeps WhatApping me with stuff about Palestine “to raise awareness”. I read a newspaper, I don’t need to read whole piles of stuff someone chooses to send me.

CruCru · 26/06/2025 17:48

Anything that gets shared to “raise awareness” of a particular issue. I used to have a FB friend who would put nonsense up on her feed and, when I asked what it was about, she PM’d me to say that I had to do the same as it was raising awareness of breast cancer. When I asked how writing a load of nonsense raised awareness, she said she didn’t know.

Commercial broadcasters commission programmes and entire channels to appeal to different demographics so different advertisers can have different audiences to advertise to.

We're all free to watch what we like but more men than women like to watch Top Gear and more women than men like to watch This Morning.

There are lots of advertising opportunities out there. It's no surprise to hear you don't recall seeing any particular advertising campaign.

That doesn't mean men's incontinence pads aren't advertised on TV. They are, as the link I posted above shows.

Zov · 26/06/2025 10:30

MasterBeth · 26/06/2025 09:30

Because TV advertisers place adverts aimed at men in programmes that men are more likely to watch and adverts aimed at women in programmes that women are more likely to watch, and ads aimed at older men (like for male incontinence pads) in programmes that older men are most likely to watch.

And that's before we get to streaming/subscription TV where they can combine the above with account holder information to know who is in your household.

You can watch one here if you really must:

If that is the case, well, that's a load of sexist nonsense. Who gets to decide what are programmes for men and what are programmes for women? DH and I watch the same programes mostly, but I watch some sport, and action films/programmes, some sci fi, and lots of crime shows, and he watches old black and white films, sci-fi and reality TV. And chat shows.

We both watch soaps (well Corrie and EE,) and Love Island and Big Brother, and we also both watch documentaries, and nature programmes. As a woman I do not see mens sanitary products advertised during any programmes. (Even ones that are supposedly aimed at men.) I can't remember ever seeing an ad for mens sanitary wear, ever, and 'as a man' DH can't remember seeing them on TV either. I asked my middle aged brother and he said he never sees them either, and he watches F1, golf, football, and DIY programmes. (Ya know, programmes 'made for men.' 🙄

@MasterBeth

Why on earth would I - as a woman - be less likely to see adverts 'aimed at men?' Confused

Men's pads are advertised on TV, but targeted at men, so you as a woman are much less likely to see them

That new Lynx ad is dreadful. People sniffing arses and bollocks. Why the fuck would anyone do that? Confused And yes to pouring red liquid on sanpro. WHAT the F?

I also detest the pissy pads adverts. Always on at mealtimes, and always portraying any woman over 40, as pissing herself when she sneezes, laughs, or farts! Hmm

Men have similar items for a weak bladder but these are never advertised. Funny that. Hmm Nooooo,, let's just make out only WOMEN piss their pants randomly in public. Fuxake! (I am late 50s BTW, and never EVER get pee leaks. I know, unbelievable right!) Shock

Surely that is a sign of being good at parking?
I hate it when people leave three quarters of a car space in front and behind them. They’re taking up two precious parking spots

No, she's not talking about parallel street parking, where bunching up is good. She's talking about supermarket car parks, where you spot a space, except when you get there, it's a tiny Fiat hiding at the back of the space.

People who modify their car so the exhaust bangs and crackles and explodes. They sound like fireworks going off. How the hell are they allowed to get away with it? 😡God, they make me f-ing insane with rage. I can even hear them at night when I'm watching TV, and they often wake me up in the early hours.

More generally, heat, crowds, noise, cars...actually, just people! Also, driving through a village and seeing a poster in a field or meadow with "sold for re-development" written on it. A work colleague sprained her wrist after punching the steering wheel when she saw fields near her being built on. Totally sympathize.

I understand it’s not actually the car making the noise but a sound system, to get round the laws.

People who say “my child plays piano”. No! They play THE piano

Agree, then get annoyed when men do it.. 🙄can't have it both ways!

Probably the same people 🙄 women who used to blame everything on 'baby brain'...

Saladleaves17 · 25/06/2025 18:38

This thread has got me started now - people that get right up your backside in a queue. It used to drive me really mad when my son still used a buggy and I would go round to the side or front of the buggy to do something for him and when I went to step back to the handle, the person behind had moved forward so I couldn’t get to it. I just used to stand on their feet or ask them to step back.

Smaller cars that are parked right into a space. So you think there’s a space and there isn’t.

i know I’m petty 🤣

Saladleaves17 · 25/06/2025 18:33

People who stop right in the middle of a doorway to have a conversation or check their phones - just move out of the way so people can get in and out of the shop!

Saladleaves17 · 25/06/2025 18:31

People hovering around me at work when they can clearly see I’m busy/eating but want to ask a question, either ask it or bugger off!

daisychain01 · 25/06/2025 16:57

I really dislike the noise of hand driers and it pisses me off when people use them in public bathrooms. Can we just provide paper towels please? It's so much less of an assault on my senses.

sensory overload, I totally get you.

I find loud noises and clicking sounds distressing. Someone in a meeting was clicking their biro and I nearly screamed!

How can they claim hand driers are better for the environment making that noise and using all that power. I always carry a ecloth for hands.

Eta - going along with the theme of assaults on senses - I really dislike people smoking or vaping in queues. I am unable to both stay in the queue and not be in the cloud of vape/smoke and I really resent the crap options available to me in that scenario.

comeandhaveteawithme · 25/06/2025 13:29

People that walk their dogs with an extendable lead and they stand on one side of the pavement and let the dog wander over to the other side, while the lead stretches right across the whole pavement so no one can get by. Usually while they are looking at their phone, completely oblivious.
This may sound specific but I see it most days.
