Silly things that give you the rage

Maybe its cos I'm peri but we were out for a meal and someone was eating chicken wings and being very meticulous about using a knife and fork to eat them and very slowly. It was holding up the next course for everyone.

Do you have any examples of getting the rage over something silly 🤣

I find the use and overuse of "peri"really irritating. Why can't women just say they are going through the menopause, menopausal or whatever. You either are iin it or aren't. I only see people saying thet they are peri on Mn. Nobody irl has ever said it to me.

Summertime62 · 22/06/2025 10:29

Multiple people walking in the swimming pool blocking the pool.
when my clothes get caught on door knobs, only happens when I’m in a bad mood!

amooseymoomum · 22/06/2025 10:27

phone charging leads. if you find them, which is a challenge in itself despite the partner swearing blind he has not had it/moved it/seen it.
Then you get it connected, and it is not charging! yet again it is broken, so another expensive trip to the electrical shop
With the amount of leads we have bought, we could have a month in the Bahamas!

thisfilmisboring123 · 22/06/2025 10:25

Oh god, could be a long list….

chewing loudly
slurping
when someone walks too closely behind me
people who just stop dead in the middle of the street/supermarket aisle
people who have no idea of personal space
people who take calls on loudspeaker
using a seat for their bag on a train

many more that aren’t springing to my mind at this moment.

I think I could just change my list to people tbh- I hate people.

Am I allowed 2 posts!!

We have friends who say “literally” the same way everyone started saying “like” in one conversation it’s will be about 5-6 times “literally” and it’s both of them.

I bet they're not using it correctly either (this was one of the bugbears I listed above)

E.g. "I literally died of embarrassment!" Well no you didn't because here you still are, alive and annoying me...

"Literally the funniest thing ever!" Was it? Really? In 30 years on this earth you never saw a single thing funnier than that YouTube video?

Grrr.

Or averse and adverse.

Or Affect and Effect.

Flightsoffancy · 22/06/2025 10:19

Dropping something, picking it up and then immediately dropping it again.

'a myriad of'. Myriad means 'many', so the a and of are redundant and infuriating.

Any kind of chewing, knife scraping, forks clattering or scraping on teeth... A lot of us on here have misophonia!

The washing machine helpfully beeping every thirty seconds to tell me it's finished. I KNOW! I just can't or don't want to deal with it instantly!

My sister mentioning or even appearing to mention anything to do with her obsession with slimness. Fuck off. I put up with it throughout my childhood and teens but I'm nearly 50 and so over it. Oh, and in related rage, my inability to lose weight 😂😭

cliffdiver · 22/06/2025 10:18

People who moan relentlessly about having a headache / cold / other minor ailment but will not take painkillers etc.

Either do something about it, or stop moaning.

People who have such little linguistic imagination they use clichés like "grinds my gears."

I'll take that. I'd sooner lack linguistic imagination than speak badly, given a choice.

coat hangers getting tangled in my wardrobe give me the absolute rage!!!!! Why do they do this to me, the more I tug the more tangled they become. It annoys me even more that I have to try and calm down to stand any chance of success in retrieving my garment.

I do not know why coat hangers give me the rage. Or anything that gets tangled. I could cheerfully throw the lot through a window.

How can you tell the difference between draw and drawer?

You wouldn't believable how many times I have said "draw" and "drawer" today. I can't say the two words differently.

In a world of people who "ain't got no", "didn't have nothing", and say they "seen" something, "draw and drawer" seems to pale into insignificance.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 22/06/2025 10:06

People who refer to Elsa as a princess. She is for the first what 7 minutes of the film and thereafter IS A FUCKING QUEEN!

Also (this is very specific to Danes) Danish people saying they re going to sejle (sail) a canoe. If you're sailing it's not a canoe. You paddle (padle) a canoe.

SunnyDayDream · 22/06/2025 10:05

Jambolass · 21/06/2025 21:14

People eating with their mouth open
People talking with a mouth full of food
Spitting
People saying draw instead of drawer
People who litter

I'm stopping at 5 otherwise I could be here all night 😂

How can you tell the difference between draw and drawer?

That sounds very hard, sending big hugs as a fellow wife of a very similar DH, I hope today is better, maybe go out.. grab yourself a book and a cold glass of wine somewhere.

Thankyou so much. Sending solidarity to you ❤️

VelvetWren93 · 22/06/2025 10:04

For absolutely no real reason, winds me up a treat when you're waiting to pull out of a junction and the very last car, with nobody at all behind them, slows down and let's you out. Just keep going because I can go after you!

Yeah no reason for it. They're being kind and it doesn't affect me it just irritates me

Energywise · 22/06/2025 10:03

Dumb people- get to the front of the queue and jam the queue with dumb stupid questions, then take out their phone to try call someone.

Bad spelling and grammar.

My husband's supermarket walk. Walks perfectly normally everywhere else but as soon as he's in a supermarket he shuffles along soooo slowwwly even in we were just meant to pop in for a couple of things.

People pronouncing 'h' as haitch rather than aitch.

People saying disinterested when they mean uninterested (yes I know language develops).

People I'm walking behind on a crowded street suddenly stopping dead to look at something or do something on their phone so I nearly walk into them.

People saying literally when they mean figuratively.

People who say ATM machine and pin number.

The National Express website. I never pre-book seats as they're all at the front and I prefer the back. So I press the 'no' button and it goes to the next page where I immediately get a big urgent pop up warning me I haven't booked a seat and have to press no again. Like I did literally seconds ago. Funnily enough I haven't changed my mind in two seconds!

Ex workmate used to say penultimate when he meant ultimate. And he'd say it a LOT.

My bloody phone autocorrecting in to on and into to onto (just remembered this one as I see it just did it on this post!).

I could go on but I'd be here all day 🤣

Edited

People who say ATM machine and pin number.
I hate this too. The "m" meaning machine is totally redundant when people say "ATM machine". Likewise the "N" in "PIN number".

I never pre-book seats.
This is a perfect example of when words are redundant. To book is, by nature, something which happens before an event. To "pre-book" would only be correct if a booking had to be done before the actual booking was made. This is borne out by you then saying I immediately get a big urgent pop up warning me I haven't booked a seat, which is correct. You haven't "booked". Not you haven't "pre-booked".

As you've proven, it is so easily done. But as you also say, language evolves. It doesn't mean we have to like it.

Or averse and adverse.

There's a whole bunch of them (e.g. foundering and floundering) but the stationery/ary is the absolute worst for me.
I see it too much where I work.

Livpool · 22/06/2025 10:00

Groups of people who walk abreast on the pavement and don’t attempt to move as you approach them.

People who have their calls on speaker phones when out in public - no one needs to know that they’re waiting on the chlamydia test!

My Asperger's DH :
-the endless monotone dry monologues

  • the wandering off
  • the zero need for intimacy and connection
-zero need to socialise -zero understanding that I have any needs whatsoever including socialising
  • the fucking verbal ticks (I have a highly sensitive startle reaction) so him shouting "mummy!" Loudly out of the blue really fucks me off
  • the walking 900 feet ahead
  • the stress over really stupid minor inconsequential things
  • the robotic sex where all the moves are there but no emotional connection and no desire for it
  • wandering off to do 'man jobs' without telling me in the middle of a weekend

I could go on and on and on. I never open up, never moan. But today has been a particularly hard and bad day and I feel isolated, lonely and depressed and constantly invalidated so please be mindful of that if anyone wants to attack me. Please not today 🙈.

I know this was meant to be light-hearted but , yep that's whats given me the rage today.

That sounds very hard, sending big hugs as a fellow wife of a very similar DH, I hope today is better, maybe go out.. grab yourself a book and a cold glass of wine somewhere.
