To think all MNers hate men?

I’m a lesbian so I don’t date men and I like women both to have relationships with and as a species! I’m a feminist and share some of the views on men that seem to be very prevalent on MN. I don’t hate men though. I actually feel a bit sorry for boys and young men today growing up in a world that is very critical of them (a view which I’ll probably get flamed for which’ll further prove my point!) I struggle to understand some of the clear contempt and, often what appears to be hatred of men from straight women on here. How do you date/fancy/fall in love with them if you have such negative views of them? Or is it just that every single woman with these views just happens to have one of the good ones? I doubt it. Isn’t it not that different to a misogynistic straight man who hates women but is happy to date them (thereby pretty much objectifying them for their own needs)??

I don't hate men. My DH is lovely, and so is my son. True gents. BUT....I do have issue, with the fact that men are the cause of most of the world's problems. They commit 98% of violent crimes. They start wars. Look at Khamenei, Netanyahu and Putin. Three stupid men, hell bent on violence, I could bang their heads together. And these are old men, who should be wiser. I think there would be more peace if all nations had female leaders.

Really??
Thatcher almost caused civil war in the UK

I certainly don’t hate men at all ! But as I’ve gotten older and resentments kicked in my views have changed.

I now realise my husband needed a mummy and not a wife. Despite working full time paying half the bills (probably more due to children’s expenses) looking after full house and everything for the children, he wants everything done for him. My friends have very similar marriages and we’re all at a point of resentment. We see our husbands as pathetic little boys who can’t grow up. I think this becomes an issue for a lot of women.

And vice versa. Men are never, ever, called trashy, cheap or home wreckers.

There are, undoubtedly, women who target married fathers and seek to have them for themselves. Do men do this to married mothers? Maybe, but I suspect much less often.

... and I'm yet to hear of a lazy father in law or brother in law who just sits there and doesn't muck in. Because there's no expectation that they ever would.

Shitmonger · 21/06/2025 13:45

Very unreasonable. I have an excellent father that I’ve always been quite close to and three brothers. I’m often harsh regarding the shit male behaviour posted about on here simply because I have great men in my family and I know how good they can be. It gives me zero tolerance for men acting like arseholes and manchildren. There’s no excuse for them to be worthless.

And so many women are so tolerant of men being deadweight in a relationship that sometimes they need to hear people bluntly telling them just how crap their partner/relationship is. For some of them it’s like hearing that other women wouldn’t tolerate it helps them understand that it’s okay for them to stand up for themselves and not tolerate it either.

It's certainly the case that most MNers fall over themselves to blame or criticise men, in situations where, if the sexes were reversed, the woman would almost always, at a minimum, be given the benefit of the doubt.

MorrisZapp · 21/06/2025 13:42

I don't think that having male relatives or loved ones proves much - every raging misogynist loves his mum and 'adores' women.

I think it’s just personal experiences. I’ve had great men in my life - family, friends, dh, colleagues.
the worst experiences have been women so I’m not a sisterhood kind of person. I wouldn’t automatically take a woman’s side.

I couldn't agree more OP, but the result of the poll clearly supports your hypothesis.

How so?

No doubt even if the result of the poll was 70%, YANBU, some people would say,

”See???? The shameless, bitter old trouts even admit it!”

🙄

Pollqueen · 21/06/2025 13:39

No, not at all. I hate lazy, feckless, sexist, misogynistic man babies with zero emotional intelligence but then I also hate the female equivalent

I have a male DP, many male friends and relatives and I love them all

Theeyeballsinthesky · 21/06/2025 13:39

Yes! Yes we do, we hate ALL men, every single one!! Our fathers, brothers, sons, uncles, the bloke next door, the bloke over the road, in fact everything male - bulls, cockerels, rams, all of them should be up against a wall

I mean FFS

OhCalmTheFuckDownBarbara · 21/06/2025 13:37

A lot of people do express pure hatred toward man on here. The venom and pure hatred absolutely drips from their posts. I sometimes wonder if some of them have made such poor choices to cause such hatred or if they’ve just never had a relationship full stop.

Isn't this thread a massive generalisation which is banned on MN?

I assume OP is just bored on a hot afternoon!

KenAdams · 21/06/2025 13:36

Yep. The stark difference in responses for near identical posts are eye opening, if one is posted by a woman and one is posted by a man. You can be a woman who doesn't work or reduces their hours and its fine but if a man does it, he's lazy.

I'm a woman btw, despite my username.

Since when ?

Dominoeffecter · 21/06/2025 13:34

This is an offensive generalisation.

BMW6 · 21/06/2025 12:55

I've noticed a bias - if a man hits a woman he's scum, if a woman hits a man he must have provoked her.........

But I wouldn't say that we all HATE all men, no. Just the abusive wanker ones.

I'm not keen on women, apart from my sisters.

I have never seen that! I’d be equally horrified

Sherararara · 21/06/2025 13:32

There’s definitely a minority that do, whose response to every post about men’s behaviour is it’s unacceptable and LTB, rather than offer genuine relationship advice, which back in the day MN used be great for. Much more balanced and helpful. Now if a man so much as looks at you funny you are told to leave. Increasingly the people with genuinely healthy relationships are staying away from MN and advice is increasingly skewed.

thepariscrimefiles · 21/06/2025 13:28

I hate a lot of the men that are the subject of many posts on here. But that's because they are often lazy, sulky, financially abusive, unfaithful, sexually abusive, absent or neglectful fathers.

Most women who post on here, particularly on the AIBU or Relationships boards, do so because they are in a difficult situation with their husband or partner. It is rare that someone would post on here simply to sing the praises of their partner, although that does happen.

MayaPinion · 21/06/2025 13:26

Nooooo, I love men, but I couldn’t eat a whole one.
