To have insisted on DH doing his ‘business’ at work when we were down to one bathroom

I told my friends this last night who found it amusing so would be interested to hear if they are the only ones!

We were down to just our upstairs bathroom this week as the downstairs bathroom was being re-done (finally finished yesterday afternoon).

Given the heat, DH was told that he should do his usual morning business when he arrives at his work rather than use the upstairs bathroom, as I didn’t fancy the smell festering all morning in this heat.

DH was fine with this - AIBU to have made such a request?!

Not me. I never poo in work. I just hold it.

Appreciate not everyone can do that though.

@ItDoesntHaveToBeASnowman

why on earth wouldn’t you poo at work if you need to poo?

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 21/06/2025 10:17

Surely a candidate for bonkers MN classics?

Because I don’t produce such nuclear level stenches, to be frank!

@WarmDeer I bet you do.

Well how odd... Why wouldn't you just use the toilet when you need it like a normal person?

I don't understand any of this. If you have to poo you have to poo. Yes, you can hold on for a bit, but it's very uncomfortable and there's a limit - so if you're at work when you have to poo then no rules, written or otherwise, will stop you.

Sasssquatch · 21/06/2025 10:15

how can anyone be so squeamish about the bodily functions of a person they engage in intimate acts with?

ButteredRadishes · 21/06/2025 10:15

ThriveIn2025 · 21/06/2025 08:42

This. We don’t poo where I work. It’s one shared toilet and there is a very much spoken rule regarding this.

😂 😂 😂 😂 You're so naive... people are definitely pooing in there. They just wouldn't admit it to the weird weird people who make these "rules" up.
.

How odd to police people's toileting.

Funnywonder · 21/06/2025 10:14

You are asking your DH to store a fully baked poo inside his colon until he gets to work? That’s actually barbaric. I hope my youngest doesn’t end up partnered with someone like you. He has Crohn’s Disease. That poo ain’t waiting around. And it doesn’t smell of sage and sandalwood I can tell you🤣

This is the most bonkers thing I have read. Do you mean if you get up to use the toilet in the middle of the night you don’t use the bathroom attached to your bedroom you go somewhere else? This is madness.

I wouldn't say it's the most bonkers - MN can be a pretty bonkers place - but it's certainly up there

Based on the hours taken by some men in the loo I sort of get what you’re saying if you’re being lighthearted.

It always bemused me how many men turn up at the gym in the morning to use the loo for this purpose, maybe they all have partners who have banned them from 💩 at home.

We technically have the en-suite too, but that has always been firmly out of bounds for anything but a shower!

If this is true OP you are abusive, and this is awful.

Instructions · 21/06/2025 10:11

This is really silly. It's a toilet. That's what it's for. I would laugh at someone who told me I couldn't use my own bathroom in my own home because they were too precious to cope with the smell.

BoudiccaRuled · 21/06/2025 10:09

You chatted to your friends about this?!

They colluded in her abuse.

Middlechild3 · 21/06/2025 10:10

It's his house too

TulipTiptoer · 21/06/2025 10:08

I have never heard such bollocks in my life
Poor bloke. When I need to go, I have to go, yet you make your DH go into work or the gym????

You have two toilets and he is not allowed to use either of them?? It's a wonder you're still married

Why should you dictate another person's toilet habits.

5foot5 · 21/06/2025 10:08

We had a Virgin Media guy come to the house when I was 99 months pregnant.

@ItDoesntHaveToBeASnowman Christ! What did you have - a brontosaurus?

IkeaJesusChrist · 21/06/2025 10:08

Bat shit, it's his house too.

Starlight7080 · 21/06/2025 09:53

Fancy being so shamed in your own home that you have to go to the gym to use the toilet.
This is very controlling behaviour.

If it was a man doing this it would be called abusive

It would. And I wonder why it's different.

Your shit stinks, OP. And so does your behaviour.

WarmDeer · 21/06/2025 09:11

The work has concluded and it looks like this is the final day of the heatwave, but if needed then he goes to the gym on weekend mornings so we had a contingency plan of him going there.

Nice try OP. Completely jumped the shark there 🤣

Aniceempirebiscuitandacupoftea · 21/06/2025 10:04

I think you knew you would be getting a caning for this and asking if ywbu. I am too in a one bathroom household. Just thinking though, which loo would I want my husband to use if we had more then one. 🤣🤣

You don’t use the toilet in it at all?! I don’t think it’s normal to control another human being’s bowel habits, no….

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 21/06/2025 10:02

So what happens if he is ever ill/bed ridden and has an accident in bed OP?

Sounds like conditional love on your part.
