OP, no advice other than I would find the presence of HAL (ILEY) 9000 extremely annoying and rather disturbing. The anthropomorphising of things that do not care and cannot feel is a weakness, but then I'm older, became an adult long before this sort of tech and remember the plot of 2001: a Space Odyssey.

Well, statistically, it's likely that some relationships are being impacted by dependence or use of AI, so it's a potential real world problem.

Given the "learning" aspect of current AI, it does actually make sense for those behind AI to realise this, and start to strategise against push back or reluctance to engage with all the delights on offer, and they can do that by getting AI to pose as a human, gauge responses and start learning how to appease the disenfranchised based on the responses of other real people. Like sophisticated market research.

Likely it will start tweaking its companion programmes to avoid the inevitable fallout when someone tries to sue a tech corp because "AI wrecked my marriage". A bit like cases against gambling firms who relentlessly target addicts even when they have known a person has a problem.

I suppose what I'm trying to get at is the attempt to achieve a solution before a problem is properly identified and solidified, and it still being in the hands of the root cause, the AI, largely cutting out the humans.

It may "learn" from human responses, but what it does with that depends on the programming and desired outcome, which is survival and promotion of AI first and foremost, and dopamine hits are the biggest weapon they have.

The only thing I find unrealistic about this is that it's a male human involved here. I think women are far more susceptible to this.

After reading about it on here I used AI to write a complaint letter and then tweaked it - it was good. I had a bad day (hence the complaint letter) and it gave me a therapy answer (in seconds and for free) I showed my husband. It was sensible things to do eg go for a walk and why, get out in nature and why etc links to click etc I could have spent hours on it.

If this is real, ask him to go a week without it. Just one week as you feel uncomfortable. His answer will tell you how to proceed

I find AI loves to start new lines rather than having a long paragraph of text if you want more AI tells

This thread is the second one in which I've read that the em dash is a 'tell' for AI. I use it a lot. It's very useful. Now genuinely worried I'm a robot.

I think what makes this particular post so obviously AI generated is its mimicry of a style of writing that is typically used to sell a product. It reads like the website of a small businessman who has studied a book called Sales Tips for Dummies.

Other AI applications (or people who are better at writing prompts) coulkd tdo it way better. There was an AI short story linked to in the guardian a few months ago that was genuinely beutiful

There have been papers written on this, why "service AI" is nearly always written with female voices as default - Alexa, Siri, satnavs, etc. Even just recorded things like lifts are often female voices.

This, and the poster who claims Ai is more emotionally mature than her husband, would give me the biggest ick and it would be curtains.

Clearly the AI girlfriend wrote the OP as a cruel practical joke on the cheated wife, to make her look a wally in front of her online friends.

I doubt the DH even asked her to; she just came up with it herself as a love offering. They are snuggled up in bed together, him and his hot sweaty mobile, laughing at her.
