Yet where they had collected data it was shown that Pakistani men where over represented.

And it is funny that they couldn't draw a national conclusion yet people are on here trying to to cite debunked data from a floored study to still try and brush it under the carpet by saying ," akshully most sexual abuse gangs are made up of white men"

It's brave to try and double down on something that has specifically been called out in the actual report especially when it was talking about covering up and using dodgy datasets from hard truths.

The UK is 81% white it's like these people have never heard of per capita

I think the victims should decide but of course nobody wants to listen to white girls because they will name their attackers and the name won't be john Smith. There is nothing racist about the truth. Those that try and close down communication be screeching racism normally have a lot to hide.

I still can't believe one of the first comments on this thread was about what a 62 year old Pakistani man says as if his word is gospel.

Part of me hopes that was a troll because surely no one is that tone deaf

It was interesting in the report where they said that it is not possible to draw any conclusions relating to ethnicity because of the missing data.

Pointless. Pandering to the racists.

Nazir Afsal said it will retraumatise survivors.

From the Casey report

"Media reporting at the time the Home Office paper was published included headlines the "most child sexual abuse gangs made up of white men" and the report continues to be referred to in the media as proof that the has claim has been 'debunked'"

I know some people are just going of the same script they have always done, no doubt waiting for the next narrative to use, but if you are going to try and gotcha other users, it is probably best to have actually read the actual report.

One can whatabout all over the threads until heads are spinning, but the poll is not lying, 92% in favour. And MN is a progressive place.

It is high time to talk openly about cultural differences in the UK (which is not racism, it's about culture, not colour), about the neglect of the white (ex)working classes, about the sheer contempt for these children, who have been let down by everyone, time for some people to admit these inconvenient truths do exist and, hopefully, get their head around basic statistics.

So this isn't about justice for the survivors or changing attitudes, it's one of your typical xenophobic posts.

Justanotherlurker · 17/06/2025 10:14

MarianaMuse · 17/06/2025 09:50

Exactly. Some uncomfortable truths will emerge from this.

There will, if you actually read the report these stats are specially called out.

It isn't the gotcha you think it is

We know that most people who are stopped and searched are white, because this is a white majority country.
But we know that black men are disproportionately more likely to be stopped and searched.
Do you think focusing on ethnicity there was pointless @Fetaface ?Because following your logic, we should be focusing on white men being the victims of heavy handed policing, since white men make up the majority of all people who are stopped and searched

If I was a black mother I would be happy that my black son was being stopped as it’s predominantly black boys who are killing each other with knives at the moment.

Jess Phillips was on Newsnight last night, apparently feeling like she's done all the right things.

I’m yet to hear a Labour MP say anything else even as they move from one position to another on a raft of things.

Nope I do not think it is pointless. I think it should be included as part of the enquiry.

I haven't said we should be focusing on white men at all. Not sure where you have got that from.

MarianaMuse · 17/06/2025 10:06

EasternStandard · 17/06/2025 09:56

I think that’s why Labour and others have been trying very hard not to have an enquiry, with use of far right etc

We’ll await the outcome of the inquiry.

The difference @saraclara is that these vile creatures were prosecuted. The victims were believed. The communities weren’t shielding the perpetrators. The police weren’t afraid to prosecute them to the full extent of the law. The victims weren’t selected for their race. And nobody was dissuaded from talking about it for the sake of community cohesion.

The fact that there are white grooming gangs does not take away the seriousness of the cover ups and failure to tackle Pakistani rape gangs. Pretending that concerns and calls for further enquiries are based on racism just doesn’t cut it anymore. We know too much now.

I'll repost my earlier comment for those coming back to the 'all lives matter' arguments.

Did you miss the bit where they said from a majority white country, there is a disproportionate percentage of Pakistani men committing these crimes? Selective data you're choosing.

I don't know how many times it's been said, most recently in the Casey report, that we simply don't have the data to assert with confidence anything about ethnicity. A couple of police forces have collated some data on ethnicity and it does appear that men of Pakistani heritage are disproportionately involved but that's not definitive.

I was sceptical about this inquiry, because there have been about ten reports and investigations and nothing of note was implemented. However, they're saying that there could be prosecutions of those who covered this up. I'd be absolutely delighted if these institutions and individuals were held to account. I'm not holding my breath though.

@Fetaface there have been accusations of racism in this thread - both overt and implied- every time the race of the perpetrators was mentioned. This has been a major reason why the authorities did not tackle the issue properly.
You deployed a different tactic of whataboutery and deflection .

Oh I have seen that. I have been accused of racism on this thread.

Maybe ask for a change of title on the thread if you want to focus on one group.
You are allowed to talk about one group - pakistani gangs but the thread is about grooming gangs so that is what I will talk about.
