Men with hands down the front of their trousers

Am I being unreasonable in thinking this is absolutely disgusting and unhygienic. I keep seeing young men out in public with one hand inside their trousers and very obviously on their dicks. My husband thinks it’s disgusting too and I rate his opinion.

I work in a prison. Lots of the men behave like this, and i challenge it every single time I see it. Its now got to the point where I can walk onto the landing and see men literally whipping their hands out of their pants when they spot me. It is both gross and hilarious. I take it very seriously, though, precisely because they're all going to go back out on the streets one day. Being told quite firmly that it's disrespectful and unacceptable might occasionally make a few of them stop doing it.

What happens if they refuse @PonyPatter44 ?

Why do they do it?

Do they realise how disgusting and vile it is or are just unaware?

Because they can.

They don't give a shit.

It's vile. I hate it!

BilderbergPoop · 15/06/2025 22:32

I didn’t think this was grim but if your husband thinks it is then I definitely do.

RowsOfFlowers · 15/06/2025 22:22

Grim

This is why I don't start threads nowadays.
Some people just take simple comments to ridiculous levels!

And there must be some strange relationships where women never ask or value their husbands opinions.....

Edited

Exactly. Mn is getting worse for this attitude. It's perfectly obvious what op meant.
Apparently you're supposed accept what a bunch of horrible women say but not the man you actually know.
Yes it is horrible that men do it in public and my dh thinks so too, I just asked him.

Does it happen a lot on the estate you live on?

Mainly outside the court I work from.

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 15/06/2025 21:59

I’m not criminalising it. Society - as in everyone passing these specimens on the street - should be making it abundantly clear to them that it’s unacceptable. Unfortunately, our society is not like that any more and people who behave in anti-social ways can just crack on, as no-one is bothered enough to tell them off. Added to which is the over-riding ‘I can do whatever I like, fuck everyone else’ attitude of many.

MemorableTrenchcoat · 15/06/2025 21:54

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 15/06/2025 21:52

Anyone who has been properly brought up knows you don’t go around scratching your genitals in public, however bloody itchy your bits are. Or is this another thing the revoltingly rude and utterly selfish TikTok generation now think is perfectly acceptable?

Perhaps, but if we’re going to start criminalising it, we’re going to have to be able to actually prove it, no?

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 15/06/2025 21:52

MemorableTrenchcoat · 14/06/2025 18:23

And how could you prove they were actually touching their genitals? And not just, say, scratching an itch in that region over their underwear?

MrsTigerface · 15/06/2025 21:40

YANBU. It is utterly gross, and I have noticed it a bit more in recent years. I have heard this referred to as ‘playing trouser hockey’, if only it was that hilarious. It isn’t, it’s vile.

I only ever see this from the lower class.

Who cares if it is masturbation or not? It's still absolutely disgusting.

Well, it's obviously disgusting but I'm shocked to think that you can't see the the massive difference between one thing and the other.

Well the police would definitely care if
someone was openly masturbating in public
versus
they would not care about a man (albeit disgusting) walking his dog with his hand down his trousers

Who talked about masturbation. That's just your imagination 😂

There was a term for it when I was young... "pocket billiards" 😂 The fact that there was a term for it means it's not uncommon. Doesn't make it right though... it's gross... 🙄

"Can you take your hands out of your pants, please? It is not appropriate to do that"

Then, and this is the important bit, I stand and look at them until they move their hands. I don't belittle them or joke about it, but I make them more uncomfortable than they make my female staff. Its a balancing act.

@PonyPatter44 that is assertive. Glad you brook no nonsense.

If they refused to, what would the consequences be, given it presumably won’t actually be a prison rule nor is it a crime? @PonyPatter44

Jc2001 · 15/06/2025 11:56

Ambaallen4 · 14/06/2025 16:48

What?

Its a crime to masturbate in public.

I saw a video where a woman was arrested and jailed in the US, for masturbating on a beach.

The minute a woman does it, it is reported. We are too nice to men, and we dont report them

Conkersinautumn · 14/06/2025 23:10

I work in a school (secondary) I have different approaches (theyre young, sone of them cannot handle me making a point to the whole class) but I will always bring it up. When their trousers are under their arse at the back I do tend to use the mum 'pull your trousers up' with a touch of toddler sing song. Unfortunately it needs saying.probably daily
