Called Unsociable 10 year old a fat c*nt

Ok, am I the worst person ever??
Last week I was at marks and spencers and there was this boy there, about 11 who was riding around on a electric scooter, whizzing past people and behaving in a passive aggressive way. When I past him he loudly made throwing up noises several times right in front of me, to scare/shock me and I said oh are you ok, maybe you need a doctor (because I don't like to be initimdated by youths). Anyway I do the shop and keep thinking about him, I was in a bad mood already and he really annoyed me, I'm fed up of little shits thinking they can terrorise people.
Anyway I saw him again on the way out and again he was whizzing past scaring people. He came past me again and then I said it.....I said 'fat cnt'!!! Now I actually do not use that word, I don't like it, I don't like it when it's used around me either but I was so pissed off that that's what I said!!!! Anyway he circled round and was like what did you say....I ignored him and he started insulting me and following me as I walked to my car, saying is this your car you fucking bitch, cnt, etc etc. I walked away saying I'm calling the police! Then this guy comes over who's his dad! He apologies and says he's trying to get him home (the kid had been in the car park for half an hour at least, maybe longer), the kid tells the dad what I called him and the dad says 'no she didn't' then the kid goes off at the dad for taking a strangers side. The dad is completely useless as the kid is still circling me where I actually have to push him away from me! Eventually he leaves after a lot of verbal abuse, from the kid. Now I'm thinking I shouldn't have done it and feeling guilty and also worried that I can't go back to M&S because he might be there and start abusing me and I have 2 young children. Thoughts? I am going to hell?

Who speaks to anyone like that? You sound as rough as old boots. Not a good look.

If you called my kid a fat cunt, you wouldn’t have to worry about going to marks and Spencer’s again.

What would have you done to OP?

Dragged her to Lidl and given her a good pasting in the middle aisle.

LacashireButterPie · 12/06/2025 23:54

Fat prick would have been better.

I'm not fond of the name of female anatomy being used as a slur. "Cunt" has a whiff of misogyny about it.

She would have called the OP a fat cunt back perhaps

Alucard55 · 12/06/2025 23:52

Loving the it's fine to call him a cunt but not fine to call him a fat cunt comment🤣.

As annoying as this kid sounds, I can’t lie to you OP, If you called my kid a fat cunt, you wouldn’t have to worry about going to marks and Spencer’s again.

ooooh you're hard 😂

DietQueen2023 · 12/06/2025 23:52

Good for you OP 😂

Frozenpizza · 12/06/2025 23:51

Sounds like he deserved it. Reminds me of that scene from Afterlife.
Maybe if more people stand up to him in the future, he won’t turn out to be a complete arsehole.

CantStopMoving · 12/06/2025 23:51

JabbaTheBeachHut · 12/06/2025 23:16

I didn’t say that. But I sure as fuck would’ve made sure by the time she left the shop she wouldn’t dream of calling a child a cunt again.

But the poster is asking you how?

I must admit I'm mildly interested now too, but only because you keep avoiding answering? 😂

@wobblyewobbly Yeah I’d love to know that too

i’m very confused- it is not ok for the OP to say what they said but you would either have hit her or verbally abused her yourself in retaliation? . What exactly would you have done in response?

MyNeedyLilacBird · 12/06/2025 23:50

He was a cunt and deserved it quite frankly. You called him out for what he was (I'd probably have went for little cunt mind).

These brats are terrorising people and need calling out as do their parents. Honesty the feral youths that are being dragged up these days, I despair for the future. No proper discipline or deterants for these little brats

SheridansPortSalut · 12/06/2025 23:50

None of you are coming off well in that story.
Your behavior was worse than the kids.

NC28 · 12/06/2025 23:50

How have we gotten to page 5 of responses without someone suggesting he has ADHD?

MN record. 🏆

The ‘child’ called her a fucking bitch and a cunt back.. 🤷‍♀️ it doesn’t sound like he was deeply wounded it’s sounds like an 11 year old was successful in intimidating an adult

Why in gods name have you put “child” in inverted commas? Do you not think an 11 year old is a child?!

what is wrong with the world that half of mumsnet thinks this is ok!!!??

ofc YABU OP. You shouldn’t call anyone that, let alone an 11 year old child.

Slatterndisgrace · 12/06/2025 23:49

JFDIYOLO · 12/06/2025 23:45

YABU.

You behaved like an adolescent and used a vile term to child who (horrible though he was being) needed better than that example.

You could have done the adult thing and told the shop manager there was an out of control child being allowed by his father to behave in a dangerous way in their shop.

I despair at the amount of people believing that ‘people with some authority’ are actually going to do something that has an effect. I posted in another thread about some feral brats terrorising people in a block of flats. The police do nothing. The councillors do nothing.

the manager would have told the child to leave the shop. Then what? Torment people outside the shop? Go in another shop?

yeah, the kid was out of order and annoying but he didn’t swear at you or threaten until you called him a fat cunt no? And also if I was the kid, I’d be quite pissed off my dad didn’t believe a stranger would call me a fat cunt?? You know why the dad didn’t believe it? Because it’s so fucking outrageous.
You go to a staff member, who have security, who would’ve dealt with this.

also just to add. Yeah YABU, the moment you called a child a fat cunt.

Edited

Fair enough but you did sound a little pompous.

I see your point. I was trying to work out how to phrase it, things don’t always come across well in text, and my default setting is teacher mode.

neilyoungismyhero · 12/06/2025 23:47

FumingTRex · 12/06/2025 23:24

You were totally out of order. His Dad was clearly allowing him to ride a scooter in the shop, so were the staff, so how would he know its not acceptable? If it was causing a problem you should have complained to the staff.

The brat was in the car park not in the shop. He was out of control if you read the OP.

Bringinguptherear · 12/06/2025 23:45

A random guy gave me a “cheer up love” type comment the other dad and I responded with a particularly vicious “FUCK OFF!” - normally I might have just rolled my eyes so I’m not sure where it came from, it was very out of character

So I can sort of sympathise with having a response in the moment.

Though I do think there’s quite a difference between shouting “fuck off” at and adult and calling a child a “fat cunt”, however obnoxious.

Too early for a Classics nomination?!

We’ve not had the early to bed posters in yet. What will tomorrow bring?!

Itallcomesdowntothis · 12/06/2025 23:45

Who the hell calls an 11 year old that? That is absolutely appalling.

Yeah sure say something to the kid but how you reacted always awful.

Slatterndisgrace · 12/06/2025 23:44

ThreePointOneFourOneFiveNine · 12/06/2025 23:42

Don’t be ridiculous. Having said she was being unreasonable I think it’s fair to acknowledge her follow up. A lot of these threads end up with loads of people piling on with abuse long after the OP has acknowledged their mistake. I think it’s nice for them to get a few posts actually recognising that they’ve conceded the point. AIBU can be an awful experience if you post something honest that doesn’t paint you in a good light, people can turn really nasty.

Fair enough but you did sound a little pompous.

NC28 · 12/06/2025 23:43

Haha, he deserved it IMO. Never mind all this “you need to demonstrate good behaviour” lecturing. No she doesn’t, not when he’s acting like that. His caregiver was outside in the car park not giving one fuck, but some stranger being harassed by his offspring is expected to? No chance.

It he’s acting like that at such a young age and nobody stands up to him, imagine him at 15.

Dad needs to stop being so impotent, standing about in a car park while his kid intimidates and annoys people. The boy will find out one day when someone knocks the shit out of him for being so obnoxious.
