AIBU to feel sorry for Wynne Evans?

He has NO clue.

Watched his interview on breakfast tv, explaining away all the misunderstandings, jokes and social experiments he was involved in which resulted in his BBC contract 'not being renewed '.

He played all the cards, mental health, dead brother, context, editing.

Of course he was in the studio to promote his latest venture, hoping to drum up interest.

Why do so many people ruin the amazing chances they're given? Baffling.

The amount of times you’ve posted, you clearly do care about defending him. I’ve read all of your posts on this thread - I stick by what I say. The main tone of your posts is defending this vulgar man.

No I'm calling out nonsense. I'm fine with Wynne being sacked, it doesn't bother me one bit, but I don't see the need to exaggerate everything. People are posting nonsense with the aim of persuading people he's done more than he's accused of. That's wrong in principle, and nothing to do with the man in question. If we start calling all idiots predators then we water the term down until it becomes meaningless.

Surely harassment requires a person being harassed? If it's wanted attention or within accepted boundaries of friendship then it's not harassment.

It can be overheard or observed behaviour. Employers must make proactive efforts to create a workplace free from harassment, so shouldn't only be acting on complaints.

Yes, there certainly can be times when it is part of a mutually agreed "give and take" friendship, but employers should not simply take someone's word that "it was all a joke" as an excuse to do nothing about creepy men with wandering hands, for instance.

HRTQueen · 15/06/2025 22:36

he is a manipulative

and you have been taken in his manipulation

common with this type of disgusting creep

Rvethetgergwtbteh · 15/06/2025 22:32

@TheWonderhorse Ive never called him a predator by the way. Infact I’m not entirely sure I’ve read that word outside of your posts, it’s just you saying we’ve all used that word.

MasterBeth · 15/06/2025 22:31

TheWonderhorse · 15/06/2025 22:26

I'm not desperate to defend him. I've criticised him. Read back what I've written, I've been pretty clear. I just don't see the need to leap to the language being used on here. I find it ridiculous that nobody can have a view that's not extreme, if I'm not baying for blood then I must know him. No, I've never met the man, and I don't really care to. But calling someone a predator when there's no predatory behaviour in any of the evidence is just stupid.

But you then also go on to say there's no evidence of sexual harassment when there's lots of evidence of sexual harassment. You minimise his behaviour as "juvenile quips".

If your partner or son was accused by seven women at work of inappropriate behaviour, I imagine you would be extremely concerned by it. Why is it different for Evans?

You don't seem to know the legislation. There don't have to be complaints or objections to the behaviour to sanction someone for sexual harassment. And it's not relevant who comments are made to.

@TheWonderhorse Why are you so desperate to defend him? I am assuming you must know him.
The reality is, the BBC could see him for what he is and has got rid of him, you can’t argue with that. The rest of us can’t stand him and most people didn’t even know who he was until he was on Strictly.

The only person he put a hand on the stomach of has publicly said she's got not problem with Wynne and that she missed him when he left.

It's absolutely stupid nonsense that he came out with, but making juvenile quips to unoffended people is not the same as sexual harassment. For it to be harassment there has to be a victim who feels oppressed by the situation. The BBC stated that no complaints were made before the video came out.

It's not a court of law of course, but claims have been made on here that are unfounded and given that this site is popular enough to come up if you Google his name then people need to be careful not to libel him. You can't just publicly claim someone to be a sexual predator, there are laws against that. It was just a reminder to people walking that line, it's too easy to forget when normally we are dealing with the anonymous and can say whatever we think.

MasterBeth · 15/06/2025 19:00

TheWonderhorse · 15/06/2025 17:17

Then we agree.

I'm not saying he's entirely innocent and if you read my post I've been critical of him, but I take objection to him being accused of sexual harassment or being a predator because he hasn't been that. He's been a bit of a dick, yes, but there's a big difference between saying stupid things and being a risk to the safety of his colleagues.

The comments and gestures he has made in a work environment are absolutely in line with the legal definition of sexual harassment. Saying stupid (sexually charged) things is well within the definition, and we all saw the Strictly groping.

There is plenty of evidence, including video evidence and personal testimony. That's enough. We are not trying him in a court of law. We don't have to prove beyond reasonable doubt.

TheWonderhorse · 15/06/2025 17:18

wobblybrain · 15/06/2025 13:09

Are you certain otherwise?

No but we have an innocent until proven guilty system in this country so that people get the facts before they fling dreadful accusations around based on no evidence whatsoever.

TheWonderhorse · 15/06/2025 17:17

Cloudsandbees · 15/06/2025 14:01

And 'spit roast boy' is okay???? You'd have to be living in cloud cuckoo land not to make an association with the sexual connotations of 'spit roast' in any context these days. If you follow his line of reasoning, why wasn't it 'rotisserie' which is what he called it on the ITV interview ?

He doesn't live in cloud cuckoo land.

Many people aren't buying the 'explanations' he's coming up with now, least of all those who were employing him and know him better than we do.

I don't think he's a sexual predator either, I do think he's sleazy and has acted very inappropriately in the workplace.

No-one else should have to tolerate that.

Then we agree.

TwoBakedOnes · 14/06/2025 19:54

Except, he didn't.

One word he used as a nickname was taken out of context.

A dumb 'game' he and Katya played backfired.

He sent a sex toy as a joke to a friend (again, dumb, but to a male friend).

He's in the public eye so he should have thought a bit more carefully about all the above, but it hardly makes him a monster.

And you’ve missed off your list telling a make up artist that he thought his own double chin resembled a vagina.(waiting to see how you can minimise that next 🙄)

The man is disgusting and vulgar and I would be happy to never have to see him on TV again.

Cloudsandbees · 15/06/2025 14:01

TheWonderhorse · 15/06/2025 11:26

Yes I realise he didn't know about the video, but there were loads of witnesses. Plus the video shows he clearly says "spit roast boy" to Jamie.

Don’t like people who don’t agree so suggesting libel? Come on now, be serious.

Calling him a sexual predator is definitely libellous, I'm just warning people that he is named in this thread so they need to be careful. Normally we're talking about unnamed people we don't know and can say what we like.

wobblybrain · 15/06/2025 11:47

TheWonderhorse · 15/06/2025 11:35

Some of you on here are entering libel territory so I hope you're sure of yourselves. It wouldn't surprise me at all if people are googling his name to see what's being said on a forum seen by so many people. Be careful!

Everyone here claiming to know what really happened and that Katya was lying to cover for him and who knows Wynne personally. It wouldn't be right to take the word of anonymous internet people for that.

The evidence that he is a sexual predator that the public have seen is non-existent. He may be a dick in loads of ways, I don't know, but in this particular circumstance I will need more evidence before I'm persuaded.

He didn't realise it was being recorded - only the stills photographers were there at that point and a newspaper reporter who captured it on a phone.

So, no, he wasn't being transparent and in fact ranted about the unfairness of being recorded (on his Facebook page).
Sleazy and also very naive, he was at a press call!
