AIBU to feel sorry for Wynne Evans?

He has NO clue.

Watched his interview on breakfast tv, explaining away all the misunderstandings, jokes and social experiments he was involved in which resulted in his BBC contract 'not being renewed '.

He played all the cards, mental health, dead brother, context, editing.

Of course he was in the studio to promote his latest venture, hoping to drum up interest.

Why do so many people ruin the amazing chances they're given? Baffling.

I don't know who he is!! Am I getting old?

The annoying opera singer with the twirly moustache on the ‘Go Compare’ ads.

MasterBeth · 16/06/2025 09:11

So we don't believe the words that came out of her mouth, as standard?

If a friend came to us with a black eye and a husband with a history of violence, would we believe her unreservedly when she said she'd walked into a door?

Uricon2 · 16/06/2025 09:10

I've known plenty of people with MH issues. I've also known quite a few handsy " bantering" sex pests who push the boundaries a little bit further each time until someone stands up to them (thankfully easier now than 40 odd years ago) Strangely, there is no overlap between the 2 groups.

MH problems are not responsible for inappropriate and sexually harrassing behaviour and as has been pointed out, the complaints go beyond the two incidents that we know of on SCD.

ShiningStar3 · 16/06/2025 09:01

He's vile and I'm bored of hearing about male celebrities/public figures being outed for sexual harassment, creepy comments, assault, grooming minors etc. Not because I don't think they should face consequences and scrutiny for their shitty behaviour but because it's so widespread and expected. And because there will always be a group willing to defend them because we're just getting too woke now and blokes will be blokes.

He could just not have made disgusting lewd remarks about women. Kept them in his head instead. Then he'd still have a career. It's not difficult so no I don't feel sorry for him.

The amount of middle aged men who think they have a right to make revolting comments about women makes me want to scream.

@Romvalley Thank you for that. Hopefully it will give his 2 fans on this thread something to think about.

He sounds like a narcissist.

Did you miss the part where he was sacked ?

Pitchfork 🙄

TheWonderhorse · 15/06/2025 23:22

I see you're happy there with your pitchfork so crack on. I never for a second expected to change your mind.

We are all getting the information we have from sources with skin in the game. That's reason for caution not certainty, surely?

HRTQueen · 15/06/2025 23:14

You believe statements the BBC make to defend themselves

i don’t and for very good reason

HRTQueen · 15/06/2025 23:12

No I will not stop calling someone what they are

his actions are sexually predatory

he is a disgusting creeps who got caught out

if he wants to keep trying to gain public sympathy by using manipulation I shall keep repeating myself too

TheWonderhorse · 15/06/2025 23:09

MasterBeth · 15/06/2025 22:53

But the perceived victim has stated that it was a joke between them,

You have no way of knowing what conversations she has had with her employer about this incident.

"But she said on Instagram..." is not a good indicator.

Edited

So we don't believe the words that came out of her mouth, as standard?

That's a reach and a patronising one at that. The BBC themselves said nobody complained until the video came out.

If she has said differently to her employers then we don't know, so we shouldn't be making assumptions.

HRTQueen · 15/06/2025 23:08

Yes as of the BBC have not tried to protect their predatory employees before

we all saw her face we all heard him

many of us have had to deal with these disgusting creeps, we see them

he was on one of the most highly viewed shows and he still felt it was ok to behave this way what arrogance

TheWonderhorse · 15/06/2025 23:05

Rvethetgergwtbteh · 15/06/2025 22:44

Nobody is posting nonsense, they are posting the reasons the BBC sacked him. The KNOWN and PUBLICISED reasons.

We've had a discussion about celebrity perv off, he's been called a sex pest and a predator.

People are declaring that Katya is lying to cover up for him, so that she keeps her job.

People are accusing him of cheating on his girlfriend, of keeping his money from his ex-wife.

He hasn't been sacked by the BBC, he's not had his contract renewed. I don't care if he can't work for the BBC any more, that's proportional to what he's done.

All I'm saying is let's criticise the things we do know, and not try to fill in the blanks. Partly because those statements are legally questionable on a public forum, and partly because it's morally dubious. People kill themselves over things like this, and people need to bear that in mind.

TwoBakedOnes · 15/06/2025 22:46

Or, the media has manipulated the narrative to suit.

His 'sins' have been a (pre-agreed) hand on a waist and a nickname taken out of context; also a stupid toy purchased for a mate - dumb, god yes.

Contract not being renewed? Possibly also correct, people in the public eye should be held to high standards and be accountable for mistakes.

But being labelled a disgusting creep, and article after article negatively attacking him - a bit much.

Oh yes that’s right

women should just have to put up with wondering hands and feeling uncomfortable and laugh along to grotesque sexual degrading remarks just smile sweetly and play along

of course this was all set up he is such an influential person it was the only way to drag him down

disgusting creeps now are being called out and facing consequences boo fucking hoo

Rvethetgergwtbteh · 15/06/2025 22:49

@TwoBakedOnes nothing was manipulated by the media, all of his behaviour was caught on camera! It’s undeniable.

TwoBakedOnes · 15/06/2025 22:46

HRTQueen · 15/06/2025 22:36

he is a manipulative

and you have been taken in his manipulation

common with this type of disgusting creep

TheWonderhorse · 15/06/2025 22:37

No I'm calling out nonsense. I'm fine with Wynne being sacked, it doesn't bother me one bit, but I don't see the need to exaggerate everything. People are posting nonsense with the aim of persuading people he's done more than he's accused of. That's wrong in principle, and nothing to do with the man in question. If we start calling all idiots predators then we water the term down until it becomes meaningless.

Nobody is posting nonsense, they are posting the reasons the BBC sacked him. The KNOWN and PUBLICISED reasons.

TheWonderhorse · 15/06/2025 22:43

MasterBeth · 15/06/2025 22:36

It can be overheard or observed behaviour. Employers must make proactive efforts to create a workplace free from harassment, so shouldn't only be acting on complaints.

Yes, there certainly can be times when it is part of a mutually agreed "give and take" friendship, but employers should not simply take someone's word that "it was all a joke" as an excuse to do nothing about creepy men with wandering hands, for instance.

But the perceived victim has stated that it was a joke between them, and even after he stepped away from the show she was speaking affectionately about him on her social media. She's been as clear as she can be that she didn't feel victimised by him.

Rvethetgergwtbteh · 15/06/2025 22:43

MasterBeth · 15/06/2025 22:38

I think maybe one poster on this tread has used that term, apart from @TheWonderhorse.

Ah, so @TheWonderhorse is exaggerating.

MasterBeth · 15/06/2025 22:38

Rvethetgergwtbteh · 15/06/2025 22:32

@TheWonderhorse Ive never called him a predator by the way. Infact I’m not entirely sure I’ve read that word outside of your posts, it’s just you saying we’ve all used that word.
