Does this reply sound OTT? Dating

Wellisayohyeah · 09/06/2025 20:26

Someone I'm dating, he messaged me about 7:30pm last night, and I didn't reply until 9am today, I got in late last night and just fell straight asleep.
We normally text every few hours, we send about 2 or 3 texts a day.

Anyway I messaged saying 'sorry for replying late, I just fell asleep last night' he replied saying 'aw it's ok, just as long as you're alright 🥰'.

Does that sound a bit OTT from him or is it just me overthinking it?

I don’t see how PP could think of that comment as negative. He is showing care while not prying and he is not demanding anything.

It sounds a bit like he's trying to say that he was worried about your well being because he didn't hear from you. It would put me off because I wouldn't want to be guilt tripped into having to reply to someone immediately so they don't worry.

Poor bugger can’t win

The tone of messages had been absolutely fine since.
I do often take several hours to reply as does he, I think it's just as I never took this long before.

Seems nice?

WTF is with the "passive aggressive" PP, honestly😆

Wellisayohyeah · 09/06/2025 21:10

I think it's because I hadn't taken that long before, so it was a 'hope all is ok' I'm guessing?

Yes, OTT.
The implication is that it is only appropriate to not instantly reply to his messages if you're not "alright", i.e you better have a good excuse for leaving him on read.

Bollocks

he replied saying 'aw it's ok, just as long as you're alright

I'd take that as a passive aggressive dig. Until I knew better.

Thanks, I'll try to not think about it anymore.

Yes. I thought it was a really sweet reply and I'm a cynic so I don't know what that makes you 😅. Maybe you have some bad experiences so you're seeing 🚩where there are none.

pinkyredrose · 09/06/2025 20:34

What on earth is OTT about that?

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 09/06/2025 20:32

What were you thinking?

leopardprint17 · 09/06/2025 20:32

What was he meant to have said?

That sounds perfectly normal to me - sent a text, didn't get a reply, waited until you did reply and then said, thanks, glad you are ok - sounds perfectly normal.
Would you rather you woke up to 100 messages from him saying he is worried?

Dangermoo · 09/06/2025 20:29

Wellisayohyeah · 09/06/2025 20:29

I don't know..just thinking too much.

Sounds like a rare good one.
