DH fascinating over my tablets

I have an inner ear infection, DH reckons he does too - which ironically came on after I told him my symptoms. I went to GP Wednesday and have been given antibiotics. Ever since, DH has been sniffing around my tablets, keeps asking to share them but I’ve told him I need them all as I have to finish the course! Last night I went to take my dose and they were missing - I found them in a shoe (accidentally as dog just happened to pick that shoe up to carry around). DH reckons he doesn’t know how they got there. This morning I woke up with a bad stomach, DH says it’s the tablets causing it and I should stop taking them - he basically just wants to get his hands on them. Lunch time they were missing again (found in a random cupboard). AIBU to be furious at his behaviour?? He did this last time with my sinus spray.

Do you think he might want antibiotics for something else?

That was my first thought until I read about the sinus spray!

Do you think he might want antibiotics for something else?

I would be saying “oi fuckface, I need to take the full course. If you’re sick, go to the doctors”
then hiding the bloody tablets and contemplating what other shitty things he does

Your thread has reminded me of one of the distressing ones from a few years ago where the OP's partner used to steal her medication - for a serious condition- because he had a drugs habit. He left her in pain and didn't care.

I would find your H's behaviour weird and extremely selfish. He obviously doesn't care about your health and wellbeing.

VexedofVirginiaWater · 06/06/2025 14:44

This is awful - if he thinks he has the same infection you have then why hasn't he been to the GP to get his own medication? (Because he knows in his heart that he hasn't.) Hide your medication from him and tell him to stop being so selfish.

steff13 · 06/06/2025 14:44

So weird.

They're just antibiotics, right? I can't imagine being that desperate to get my hands on some antibiotics unless I was really sick. And if he's really sick, he needs to get his own doctor's appointment and his own antibiotics.

Shetlands · 06/06/2025 14:44

I bet this isn't the only weird thing he's ever done is it?

yeesh · 06/06/2025 14:43

This is one of the strangest things I’ve ever read on here.

FeministUnderTheCatriarchy · 06/06/2025 14:42

He needs quite serious help.

Health anxiety is one thing.

Being bloody attention seeking and getting in the way of your wife's recovery by deliberately sabotaging her medication is another.

If he is sick, he can go to the GP.

Does he take other things that are yours? Like eat your treats or always steal the best bits of everything? Does he resent you having anything for yourself?

IsabelleLeduc · 06/06/2025 14:40

Is this for real?!

JustAnInchident · 06/06/2025 14:40

That’s fucking bizarre. Is he otherwise controlling in your life? I just can’t understand this level of weirdness to be quite honest

sploshsplash · 06/06/2025 14:39

This is beyond odd behaviour
