Fuming

BF (few months relationship) invited me over to his for a meal, home made thai curry, so far so good. He plated it up in the kitchen and brought the food to me with all of the curry and sauce on top of the rice, when I like to have them side by side and have some clean rice as a palate cleanser.

Its just good manners and basic rice etiquette to ask first. I cannot believe I was dating such a neanderthal. He even tried to gas light me, saying that it doesn't make any difference and basically trying to invalidate my feelings and lived experience.

Eugh men

I think OP is being slightly tongue in cheek, you can lower the pitchforks.

But why bother? 😂

Figcherry · 06/06/2025 14:23

Can't bear people putting my curry or chilli on my rice.
If I want to mix it I will, but that's my call 😆

MsDDxx · 06/06/2025 14:23

Darragon · 06/06/2025 09:06

Oh it's supposed to be a bloody badly written joke. 🙄

Edited

It’s a really bad joke, and doesn’t come across like one either. Just sounds petulant and ungrateful and a massive great big red flag.

Hoppinggreen · 06/06/2025 14:19

DH knows nobody plates my food - but we have been married ovr 20 years

Tiredandtiredagain · 06/06/2025 14:19

Maybe it’s got ingrained in him that’s it’s the correct way to serve it?

💥

TheAutumnCrow · 06/06/2025 14:19

It’s

a

joke

DisforDarkChocolate · 06/06/2025 14:18

I'm with you, I can't eat food like this. I do tell people before they dish up my food though in case they haven't noticed.

Pinty · 06/06/2025 14:17

Most people would serve the curry and rice exactly the same as your boyfriend.
I would just be very happy someone was making me what sounds like a very tasty meal

ColinOfficeTrolley · 06/06/2025 14:16

Is this just your way of telling everyone you have a boyfriend. Have you just gone exclusive or something. Seems very shoehorny.

nautys · 06/06/2025 14:14

Crickey! Poor bloke.

Tartantotty · 06/06/2025 14:14

You have to be joking!

He made you a nice meal and you behave like a spoilt ,and extremely fussy and ungrateful, brat. You need to take a long hard look in the mirror.

TheAutumnCrow · 06/06/2025 14:14

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 06/06/2025 13:22

Jokes aside, IMO unless it’s for close family, when you know much they like, plating up should be banned anyway. How can anyone know exactly how much someone else would like?

(I dare say I’m influenced by gruesome memories of a SiL giving me a huge plated-up helping of couscous and very fatty lamb. 🤮)

If DP does this I scape it onto his plate. And give him a hard stare.

My body is a moderately well-run church methodist church youth club; not a food waste bin (to paraphrase Emo Phillips).

xPenelopePitstop · 06/06/2025 14:13

Fuck me is this serious? 😂

YABU and sound incredibly spoilt and rude. Your fella should dump you.

When you dine out, do you swan into the kitchen in restaurants to dictate to the chefs about how they plate up your meals? Because if you do, I hope they give you the old Gordon Ramsey style “fuck off”

MasterBeth · 06/06/2025 14:13

BlueandPinkSwan · 06/06/2025 13:57

Sorry, must have lost my sense of humour, what's funny about it ?🤔

Jeez, it's just a light aside not the headline act on Live At The Apollo.

middleagedandinarage · 06/06/2025 14:13

It would genuinely brighten my day so much if this was real 😂

One reads so much batshit stuff on MN it really is hard to distinguish the jokey posts from the simply barmy!

Spot on.

Toomanydogwalks · 06/06/2025 14:11

Hasn’t he got any of those silver bowl things they have at the Indian? Christmas is coming OP, treat him!

TheAutumnCrow · 06/06/2025 14:09

Kelticgold · 06/06/2025 13:08

He should use a sausage as a breakwater.

In a curry? She not a fucking animal.

She’s a lady.

NorthernSpirit · 06/06/2025 14:09

I don’t mean to be mean….. but you sound hard work.

He invited you into his home, cooked you a lovely meal and you ate morning about how it was served (do you have some odd food disorder were foods can not touch)?

I haven’t read the rest of the thread but if he’s dumped you - he’s dodged a massive bullet.

DyslexicPoster · 06/06/2025 14:07

I'm with you OP. No foods should ever touch. I almost faint when I see spaghetti and sauce. Don't get me started on macaroni cheese!

It's the same for weetabix. I eat three dry biscuits first then use diffusion to suck the milk from a separate glass into my dehydrated mouth.

I also eat the sugar, tea and milk in a strict order. The milk is the starter then the tea and the sugar is the pudding part.

emmetgirl · 06/06/2025 14:03

Is this a joke?

babystarsandmoon · 06/06/2025 14:01

He needs to leave…

If it was the other way around there would be hell on.

TheAutumnCrow · 06/06/2025 14:00

alcoholnightmare · 06/06/2025 09:11

Maybe next time take round your own plastic toddler plate with the separate section bits?

I’m not kidding, I have seriously thought about buying one of these, but maybe prison size?

BlueandPinkSwan · 06/06/2025 13:57

MoominMai · 06/06/2025 10:22

It’s a joke thread.

Sorry, must have lost my sense of humour, what's funny about it ?🤔
