Watching Lilo & Stitch..is this odd?

Here with Dd, only one other family here…and this guy, munching on snacks..watching Lilo & Stitch

Is it just me 😂

OP posts:
LoremIpsumCici · 02/06/2025 14:33

Many parents prewatch everything before they let their children see it.
I have also gone to the cinema and my DC wanted to sit in the very front row. I cant sit with them as it would hurt my neck. So i sit by myself several rows back.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 02/06/2025 14:28

What are you saying then? What are you saying people are being too accepting of and unflapped by?

I'm saying that yes, it's odd. Which is what the op asked.

You think it's not? So you think it's usual/ordinary?

Do you think it's common for adult men to go to the cinema and watch a kids films alone? Really? You see this often?

Bollocks you do 😂

BunnyLake · 02/06/2025 14:32

familylawyer01392 · 02/06/2025 14:09

No it's not odd, how judgemental! I went over the weekend and there was a man on his own sitting next to me, didn't even occur to me that it could be seen as strange

Only if you were the only two there 😂

OverpricedCupcake · 02/06/2025 14:31

I went to a kid's theater production on my own last year and loved it.

MoominMai · 02/06/2025 14:31

@Littlebluecreature yes it’s just you. Most of us live and let live 🙄.

Onlyharmony · 02/06/2025 14:31

Wow you are so judgemental. 😲

You're trying to police what people watch now?

Was he sat there with his hands down his pants because I feel like you're trying to insinuate something bad here.

Guess what as an adult woman, I have no kids but I went with a male colleague friend to see the lion king in cinema. Is that okay with you?
The audacity honestly. 😅😅😅😅

I cannot believe how much time you must have!

caringcarer · 02/06/2025 14:30

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 02/06/2025 14:10

This is so perfectly normal, I can't believe you even noticed. Disney films have very broad appeal.

Why shouldn't he enjoy watching g a film? Is he hurting anyone? Has he made any inappropriate advances towards anyone? Live and let live OP.

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 02/06/2025 14:30

Very strange behaviour (you OP, not the man)

SmallSoupcon · 02/06/2025 14:30

I'm more concerned that OP seems to be on her phone while the film is playing.

StMarie4me · 02/06/2025 14:30

How horrible you are.

Judgy and horrible.

CantStopMoving · 02/06/2025 14:30

AzureShark · 02/06/2025 14:27

Not following your logic here - I didn't mention rule breaking.

Something can be odd as hell without breaking any rules or laws.

When an individuals behaviour appears unusual, it will usually make you more guarded, for obvious reasons.

It’s not in any way strange though!

I can’t work out how watching a film alone is odd, cartoon or not. I’m in my 40s and I have to admit I like to watch cartoons still.

It's not odd to go to the cinema by yourself.

I often go alone, and often there are a good few other people by themselves too. You get to see what you want, when you want and there is nobody nicking your sweeties.

I've even - shock - gone to see films aimed at families/kids by myself too.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 02/06/2025 14:28

I saw Lilo and Stitch in the cinima age 20 all be it with a load of other students, if I didn't have a child I would happily see the live action on my own. Media can still be entertaining without 'adult themes'. It doesn't make me weird or immature to enjoy something without swearing, extreme violence or sex scenes from time to time.

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 02/06/2025 14:28

I'm a big burly man with a skinhead. I'll also be heading to see How To Train Your Dragon the minute it comes out.

If people think I'm a bit odd, fuck 'em.

MrsPinkSky · 02/06/2025 14:28

Certainly no odder than starting a thread on the internet to discuss this complete stranger's viewing choice.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 02/06/2025 14:28

AzureShark · 02/06/2025 14:22

I've no idea what you're on about here or if you're replying to the wrong post maybe? I said nothing about the guy being a predator.

What are you saying then? What are you saying people are being too accepting of and unflapped by?

FedupofArsenalgame · 02/06/2025 14:27

Littlebluecreature · 02/06/2025 14:14

Ok wasn’t trying to be awful at all, wasn’t judging him, feel bad now.
I love going to the cinema on my own, it was just the kids thing, that’s all

My ds 21 went to cinema recently and saw a kids film. He also has a pass and is a film studies student.

CantStopMoving · 02/06/2025 14:27

Smoulderdash · 02/06/2025 14:19

@Littlebluecreature would you think it was weird if he was female?

I’m asking because I’m trying to pluck up the courage to go to the cinema solo (unsure which film..) following the recent breakdown of my marriage. Maybe I’ll be judged though?!

No one cares. Just go and enjoy. I wouldn’t give it any thought if I saw someone watching a film alone. Watching films is not a group activity is it? You sit there in silence. What does it matter if someone you know is next to you or not.

CherryAlmondLattice · 02/06/2025 14:27

I have a pass for my local cinema and go solo all the time. Nobody has ever said anything or probably even noticed.

Sometimes during the day I'll get the screen to myself or there'll just be a couple of other solo people there. Blissful.

AzureShark · 02/06/2025 14:27

CantStopMoving · 02/06/2025 14:23

Why is it odd though? He was literally just sitting there watching the film.

what rule do you think he has broken?

What a weird weird post.

Are you suggesting people can't go to the cinema on their own or are you insinuating this man is a predator?

Wishboneswishes · 02/06/2025 14:25

What a sad post - assuming weirdness because someone is watching a hugely popular movie on their own. Adults love ‘kids’ movies.

BurntBroccoli · 02/06/2025 14:25

babystarsandmoon · 02/06/2025 14:15

I’m sick to death of strangers being judged in a world where friendships are dying, people are lonely and they get told to go and do the thing and then when they do it’s seen as odd.

Exactly! There was a post the other month about people who go for walks alone seen as odd.

GetOffTheCounter · 02/06/2025 14:25

Personally i love going to the cinema on my own. I am a bit of a film lover and if i am with someone else tend to worry about if they enjoy it or not.

It's less stressful going on my own.

CherryAlmondLattice · 02/06/2025 14:25

DH was going to see this on his own, but I'm glad we tagged along now so he didn't get flagged up as a pervert!
