Watching Lilo & Stitch..is this odd?

Here with Dd, only one other family here…and this guy, munching on snacks..watching Lilo & Stitch

Is it just me 😂

OP posts:
Koalafan · 02/06/2025 15:56

I'm late 40s and love Stitch - I might well go with lots of nibbles alone to see it.

ZoeCM · 02/06/2025 15:56

My sister's in her thirties and went to see Lilo & Stitch on her own. She has a monthly cinema pass, and it's a film she has fond memories of. I'm a bit alarmed that posters on here think she's someone they need to be "on their guard" around!

I rarely go to the cinema on my own, but that's because I'm lazy. If I want to see a particular film, and no one else wants to see it, I'll just wait until it's on streaming.

Ok wasn’t trying to be awful at all, wasn’t judging him, feel bad now.
I love going to the cinema on my own, it was just the kids thing, that’s all

Don’t feel bad - just do better next time. You don’t know what someone’s going through and if watching a kids movie lifts their spirit leave them to it.

It’s not as if he’s just randomly hanging out at a kids playground and staring at kids. There’s no issue here.

whitewineandsun · 02/06/2025 15:56

EmeraldRoulette · 02/06/2025 14:06

I'm usually there on my own.

Same. I have an unlimited pass. I'm going to watch Lilo & Stich this week. I'm a woman. Maybe I'm allowed?

YABU, OP.

tinyspiny · 02/06/2025 15:55

Lots of people saying about ‘watching a cartoon’ , this is a live action remake of the original so not a cartoon , not that it makes any odds to who should or shouldn’t be going to see it .

LemondrizzleShark · 02/06/2025 15:55

Onlyharmony · 02/06/2025 15:49

Wtf has this got to do with the trans debate?

And also how do you know what people's political stances are?

Not hating all men doesn't mean people don't believe in certain other things. It also doesn't mean that they do.

It's a cinema, not a women's area.

Even if I hated all men, I would draw the line at saying they shouldn’t be allowed in the cinema unchaperoned!

imisscashmere · 02/06/2025 15:53

Allaboutmememe · 02/06/2025 15:46

Theres small minded and there is being stuck up.

Are you suggesting I’m stuck up? Why?

Onlyharmony · 02/06/2025 15:53

This thread just proves to me you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't. 😅

People you'll be judged no matter what you do, so live life exactly as you please.

I have realised that as shit as my life can get, at least I aren't this pathetic. That's something to be happy about.

cheesycheesy · 02/06/2025 15:53

Whiskyfromsmallglasses · 02/06/2025 15:47

People like you are the reason I haven't plucked up the courage yet to go to the cinema on my own. Seperated from my husband of 23 years and finding my way on my own is tough. There is loads I want to try on my own but don't due to fear of judgement

Please don’t listen to a few idiots on here. Around half of people on cafes and cinemas are alone. I’m going to the cinema alone tonight and can’t wait!

SuperTrooper14 · 02/06/2025 15:53

GinAndJuice99 · 02/06/2025 15:49

I don't think that's what the OP is insinuating at all. She just thinks it's strange that an adult would go and sit through a kids' film when they could be watching something a bit more interesting.

Oh come on, that's exactly why she started the thread. In her follow up comment she tries to backtrack but then says "it was just because of the kids" that she thought it was odd he was there. Not for watching a kids' movie, but because kids were in the audience.

Keepingittogetherstepbystep · 02/06/2025 15:53

There might be numerous reasons he was there on his own.

In my late 20's I went to see lemony snickers a series of unfortunate events on my own but I was completely on my own for the viewing was like a private viewing.

SeaShellsSanctuary1 · 02/06/2025 15:53

Yes it is fine and you shouldn't give any thought.

Even PPs that say 'yes it's fine, maybe he.....'
are overthinking. There is no justification needed

Dodeedoo · 02/06/2025 15:51

So what

LemondrizzleShark · 02/06/2025 15:51

AzureShark · 02/06/2025 14:27

Not following your logic here - I didn't mention rule breaking.

Something can be odd as hell without breaking any rules or laws.

When an individuals behaviour appears unusual, it will usually make you more guarded, for obvious reasons.

So you don’t think he’s a predator, just “somebody you need to be on your guard against”. Ok Confused

TheMimsy · 02/06/2025 15:50

I get it’s a kids movie etc. this came out when my kids were younger and it’s our family favourite and always quoted to this day. My eldest son has one of the sayings tattooed. Nemo was our second favourite. Closely followed by penguin’s of Madagascar etc.

eldest is 31 and will no doubt go to watch this as he’s not insecure about being seen watching kids films. Youngest is 24 and will watch at home as he’s does worry what people will Think of him.

eldest also went to watch Minecraft last week and loved it.

MissPrismsMistake · 02/06/2025 15:50

I’m still processing @Daisymaybe60 going for a walk without her husband. Shock

Grin
BellaTheDarkOverlord · 02/06/2025 15:50

I won’t judge as I told my brother who is in his 30s that dh and dd1 will be going to see it soon. He’s asked if we can wait until he comes back from holiday so he can go with them too… without his kids 😂

FYI on that one his kids are very young and wouldn’t enjoy it.

MaggieBsBoat · 02/06/2025 15:50

This is so depressing that a person can’t go and do something alone. Maybe the poor guy has no friends. FFS.

AstonUniversityPotholeDepartment · 02/06/2025 15:50

Was the film any good?

Smoulderdash · 02/06/2025 15:50

With you on this (I posted about this very thing above!) I’d probably want to go watch Disney if I know my kids have seen it with their dad so I know what they’ve seen and can share in chatting to them about it. It’s the judgmental people out there that are stopping me. Nice to see it’s such a minority though. That makes me feel better.

Trumptonagain · 02/06/2025 15:50

Adults, both male and female have been going to the cinema alone to watch animated films since the days of 'Happy feet'.

Not everyone wants to 'borrow' a nephew or niece in order to do so.

GinAndJuice99 · 02/06/2025 15:49

SuperTrooper14 · 02/06/2025 15:28

My BIL is a massive, massive movie buff and often goes to the cinema during the day if he's not working. There isn't a film he won't watch, even cartoons. But he's there to watch films and not to ogle children as OP seems to be insinuating that's what single men must do if they are going to the cinema by themselves.

I don't think that's what the OP is insinuating at all. She just thinks it's strange that an adult would go and sit through a kids' film when they could be watching something a bit more interesting.

Onlyharmony · 02/06/2025 15:49

GoodOldTrayBake · 02/06/2025 15:24

Yeh. It’s weird. Ignore the holier than thou bunch. They are the reason why the trans lobby were able to exert so much power and influence, because liberal people were falling over themselves to prove how accepting they are that they couldn’t bring themselves to call out weird behaviour. And by the way, I’m a liberal. I’m one of the so called metropolitan middle class elite. Only difference is I’m happy to call a spade a spade. A man dressed as a woman is still a biological man. A single man alone watching a kids film is weird.

Wtf has this got to do with the trans debate?

And also how do you know what people's political stances are?

WhereIsMyJumper · 02/06/2025 15:49

I think it’s completely irrelevant if you thinks it’s weird or not. I wouldn’t think it was, someone else might think it is. But either way, being weird isn’t a crime
