To think this is really cheeky

So where I live the local farmer allocated a bit of extra garden to the rear of the houses. Currently all I do is cut the grass while i decide what to do with it. So next door asked me today if they can put up a trampoline in my bit of garden . Part of me thinks say yes as their garden at the rear of their house is awful and full of junk . But then another bit kicks in and thinks no sort your own garden out . Advice please

Massively entitled of them. They have a garden already! The adults need to get off their backsides and sort out the space they already have. Poor kids.

Rainbowcat99 · 26/05/2025 23:55

No!! Your garden will soon become full of their overflow junk too…very cheeky!

Copperoliverbear · 26/05/2025 23:41

No sort out your own garden for your kids sake, they have a cheek

Wtafdidido · 26/05/2025 23:38

You say no as before you no it the space will be filled with crap and rusty neglected old bikes and toys which they will not clear and you will never get the patch of l d back and they will not maintain it. In fact they probably expect you to keep on mowing and tending it!

Gothamcity · 26/05/2025 23:37

And what happens when one of the kids/friends of the kids flies off the trampoline and has a serious accident in what is considered "your" garden? Considering they're cheeky enough to ask to do this, it wouldn't surprise me if they're cheeky enough to try and sue you for an injury that happened on your property. Not sure who actually owns this piece of land, but I'd worry you could end up in a bad legal situation. And what happens if the farmer wants this bit of land back, and they refuse to move the trampoline. If he's allocated that part to you, you could end up having the hassle of removing it, or in some legal battle with the actual landowner.

Offer to rent it to them - with the stipulation that it is for the trampoline only so that it doesn't become a junkyard extension.
At least if it's beyond the bottom of your garden, screechy bouncing children will be further away.
Didn't they get allocated extra space at the end of their garden.

and what will you do when they start dumping junk and ignore you?

ScottBakula · 26/05/2025 21:09

Nope absolutely not.
If they were given a bit of extra land but didn't want it and gave it to another neighbour they should go to that neighbour and ask for it back or ask if they can put the trampoline in their garden .

Lovelycupofcoffee · 26/05/2025 21:00

@ThinWomansBrain yep all the houses were allocated a strip of extra garden but they didn’t want it so let next door have it .

coxesorangepippin · 26/05/2025 20:59

Nope!!!

Coffeemat · 26/05/2025 20:58

Absolutely not.
What if someone hurt themselves on your property.
Tell them No, you have plans for it.
Partition it off if you can.

Tell them to piss off!

Freeme31 · 26/05/2025 20:50

No

Dangermoo · 26/05/2025 20:50

Then there will be another boundary, that they literally push, if you show weakness.

GloriousGoosebumps · 26/05/2025 20:48

Have I misunderstood your post at 19:13? They had a similar strip of land but gave it to their neighbour? Clearing out their garden is the obvious solution but they could ask the neighbour to give back the land.

TheyFuckYouUpYourMamAndDad · 26/05/2025 20:06

Bloody hell OP…I just can’t fathom why you are/were even thinking about agreeing to this! 🤯

Give your head a wobble and stop being such a people pleaser 😩🥴

MovingBird123 · 26/05/2025 19:53

No! They could tidy up their garden if they want. You are entitled to enjoy yours however you want. Having their trampoline there sounds like a nightmare.

Stopitbella · 26/05/2025 19:52

I sometimes wish I had the absolute cheek of some people. Who the hell would ask that!

It’s not your fault their garden is awful. If they want somewhere for their children to play, they should sort out their own space.

Laura95167 · 26/05/2025 19:43

Someone comfy asking to use your land for their kids won't like it when you decide you want it back

These kinda people get an inch and take a mile.

Don't do it

MoominMai · 26/05/2025 19:36

Remember that ‘’possession is nine-tenths of the law" so you’ll be hard pushed to get it back I reckon!

outerspacepotato · 26/05/2025 19:16

You do NOT want a trampoline anywhere near or definitely not on your property. Not at the end of your garden, no where near.

It's not just the noise. They're terrible accidents waiting to happen.

godmum56 · 26/05/2025 19:15

Lovelycupofcoffee · 26/05/2025 18:55

@eldermillenialmum Their garden is awful

every single garden in the UK would be awful if the owner didn't keep them tidy and not dump crap in them!

Lovelycupofcoffee · 26/05/2025 19:14

If I see them over the next few days I will tell them

@Oldraver so all the houses were given an extra strip of land at the rear of the house. They didn’t want it so let the neighbour have it . They now need extra space as their garden is full of crap.

Take the easy way out and tell them you have plans for the area. As PP have said, you’ll have a terrible job getting them off the land if you allow them to use it.
