To want my parcel - woman denying accepting it but I have a photo..

I ordered some stuff off sports direct (about £20 worth) and, because I haven’t ordered off there for a couple of years, stupidly got it sent to my old address which was stored on the web site. Yes I know it’s annoying and stupid so I don’t need that lecture.

So once I clocked on what had happened, I went round there to collect it - couple of days later. The woman who bought the house off me completely denies having received it, despite the courier’s photo showing it being accepted at the front door. I can see two sets of children’s feet at the door on the picture. I obviously recognise the doorstep - I lived there for nearly 20 years.

Please note, I did not shout or accuse, I was very polite, I said I was “puzzled” and that there must have been some sort of confusion but she was adamant she hadn’t had it. It was a shoe box sized parcel so not massive to store and not easy to lose either.

Do you clever lot have any idea if there’s anything I can do?

I half expected her to come to the door wearing my gym gear 😆

Trust me my morals are plenty strong. I just don’t think my morals will be served by trying to get revenge. I’m going with serene acceptance that I’ve done what I can.

Well you obviously have more bandwidth than me for that level of fury. I’ve moved on. She’s had a massive fright and not a little inconvenience and that’s enough for me tbh.

Oh no it’s not fury, it’s just that I have strong morals and injustice is something that really riles me.

I did think about it but I’m not really in touch with them and I don’t really want to go there tbh. Not only do I not want to see her but also it’s a 30 minute drive and I CBA. The moment has passed.

You are a far better person than me ., the moment would never pass for me. I’d make sure she knew that she might have got away with it but I know exactly what she is and so does everyone else.,

Hmm I think that’s bad. That parcel went into her house and the photo proves it. Crime is legal now. If I don’t want to pay in Tesco, do I just get a child to steal the shopping?

That’s not the point at all. There’s no evidence against this woman. If she denies it, there’s nothing to say she’s ever had it. Just that it was at her front door. She could say she wasn’t even in.

Not sure if it's been mentioned but I'd tell all your old neighbours what she did in case she takes parcels in for them then denies it.

Edited

As promised, an update. The police have closed the case because the delivery picture didn’t show the woman. Just the children. Got to give them credit, they tried their best.

Erm, no thanks. I’m already well past the even mildly annoyed stage. And I think the stress she must’ve had from this is already enough.

I'd like to hope so. Certainly hope she will think twice before stealing other people's parcels. She probably thought she'd get away with it and you wouldn't follow it up but she must be pretty stupid to do it to it to the person she bought her house from and I bet underneath all the lies and deceit her husband isn't too impressed at the trouble she's brought to the door. Especially as she's implicated her own kids in her theft.

Send her a shit 🤣

I've used this site before. It's legit and it comes from another country so very very unlikely that police would get involved 😅

I only know about this site because someone sent one to my sister 🤣

Wtaf.

I’m curious what your sister did to deserve this? 😂

I assume she did come to the door and take it - she came to the door about 5 seconds after the kids opened it to me - but that’s not what the photo shows so it’s no use.

This has happened to me too. Some
people have no shame.

a friend sent a present to me with the wrong door number. The woman at the address refused to agree she or her family had accepted the parcel. Despite a photo of her door and the parcel and some feet. She had a distinctive door mat and the door number was in the photo….. I have no idea how it could be denied but I lost that gift.

however
when it happened again I went round and said I would wait until she had consulted with her family. Or would ask my husband to come back later to check again in case her family were not home at the time…... I also reminded her that this had happened before and so would be a little weird if a second parcel disappeared.

somehow the second parcel was eventually found inside her house and brought out to me.

but required me to be up for the fight which is disappointing

however when I received a parcel intended for her I did not take it round to her like I would anyone else in our street.

oddly she never came asking for it either so I returned it to sender after a month. We were wfh so she could have popped round at a time to suit her.

on the other hand when we moved the new tenants of the house were so helpful when items got delivered there by mistake. Used to whatsapp us!!!!!

KimberleyClark · 27/08/2025 08:37

Some people are just utterly shameless aren’t they?

LittleBitofBread · 27/08/2025 08:34

What a pity. But hopefully the police being involved has put the wind up her and she won't steal anything else in the future.

Wonder if your persistence would make her think twice about doing it again.

People like her don't think twice about anything. .

So the answer is to get the kids to accept the parcels.

Have you told your courier? It might make them think twice before they hand it over. Some people send all sorts of things which children shouldn't see. Not much point in a law that says ;''over 14 only'' if it applies to an item in that package - other than weapons, that is.

randomchap · 26/08/2025 22:37

Well, that's a shame. Hopefully it'll make her think twice about doing it again though.

You clearly don't understand how the scam works
Of course the op has a photo, because the parcel is genuinely delivered. The accomplice picks it up an hour or so later saying its been wrongly delivered.. I don't think the op is a scammer but I can see how the police might think she is.

Except for her being known both to the person who has stolen her parcel, and to the police to whom she has reported the theft: that's why I said I didn't see how it would work in this case. I assume scammers generally don't report themselves to the police.

MoominUnderWater · 27/07/2025 11:43

In a way I’m glad if it goes to court, though I suppose the officer asking if you’d be prepared to go to court doesn’t mean it will? You’d think at the point that the police visit her/visited her she’d apologise, say there had been a terrible mistake and hand the sandals over? Guess she’s maybe started wearing them by now?

LittleBitofBread · 27/07/2025 10:57

Good for you, OP. I do appreciate that court can be very stressful, and that this isn't exactly a high-value crime, but I agree with others that this might be either part of a bigger investigation or they're just tired of parcel crime and looking for someone to make an example of.
It might well not end up in court, but just go as far as the police confronting her with your statement and giving her a stern ticking-off. Which she deserves/has brought on herself.
