To now allow DSs friend over because of pillow fight?

I don’t mind the kids playing with their pillows as I know a lot of their games involve the pillows - pillow fight, gladiators, paintballing etc but the rule is no stomper pillow. That’s it.

Last night they were playing upstairs when I heard crying, went up and DS1 had a bloodied nose, DS2 had whacked him in the face with a stomper pillow. He’s meant to be having a friend over tonight and I’m thinking of cancelling. DH said to just remove the stompers but I feel that is just masking DSs behaviour. Would I be going too far to cancel the sleepover?

Get rid of the gross old heavy second hand pillows. Don’t be someone who’s proud of the rock hard pillows they sleep on that are solid dust mite poo

If it’s just a regular looking pillow that’s heavier, they might have genuinely in the heat of the moment playing not realised the difference of a stomper pillow. As I’m still confused.

don’t be harsh and cancel the sleepover

No he would have known as soon as picked it up, they weigh a ton

Sounds like they should be called Danger Pillows

No idea what a stomper is but you should only use one pillow anyway.

When was that law passed? Obviously we’re in danger of prosecution.

Don’t cancel the sleep over, that’s mean Just remove said “ stomper” pillow and crack on. I mean if they can cause a bloody nose, why has DS got access to a stomper?? 🙄

That’s what I saw.

Promptly ordered 5 to smite my enemies since we now have it on good authority from OP that peeps go down like a sack of spuds when hit with one.

I don’t know to be honest, we were given them by DHs mum. They’re awful I don’t know why we use them. I thought everyone called them stompers but maybe not! They’re hard heavy pillows, old fashioned I imagine

Maybe just get rid of them and then the risk of anyone getting hurt by them disappears?

BIossomtoes · 26/05/2025 10:12

Sounds like a bolster. Maybe you should just throw them away @CrabbyPaty.

PumpkinSpicePie · 26/05/2025 10:11

No nationality or area has claimed ownership of stompers yet 😁

What's in the pillow to making it heavy?

It’s not. Does ‘stomper’ sound remotely Scottish to you?

Well it was worth a guess! It's not Northern, Continental or Aussie

Bricks maybe?

Could be Scottish - sounds like one of their strange words! Grin

I saw a couple of entries on Google for a “stomper squish pillow”. Nothing of the nature described by OP.

MiracleCures · 26/05/2025 10:07

CrabbyPaty · 26/05/2025 10:02

Stomper pillows are very heavy pillows. The soft pillows go on top of the stompers.

Is this just a family word?

Westfacing · 26/05/2025 10:03

Maybe the OP is Continental or Northern!

I am a mix of northern and continental and have never heard of these before!

EleanorReally · 26/05/2025 10:07

i wouldnt cancel
just hide the heavy pillows

I'm Australian and have never heard of it! Not one of our terms 😁
