Petty neighbour

So I’ve been living in my flat with my family for just over 3 years now, everyone has been lovely never had an issue with anyone, we have 1 allocated parking space for each flat and the parking is really tight, I always be careful to not hit anyone’s car door with my door but sometimes I have to lean my door on there’s to get in and out as I won’t fit otherwise and I think it’s gotten harder now as I’m 37 weeks pregnant!
so in my post box today I found a handwritten note from the neighbour who parks next to me and she’s said she’s noticed some paint marks of my car on her car and if we could call her to look into it together 😐 its just transferred paint and will come off even if you lick your finger I’m so shocked she’s actually said something like this as she knows I’m pregnant and we’re also moving out in 2 days!
Do I act like I’ve never seen the note and just leave or do I actually call her I’m literally waddling around in so much pain moving house and heavily pregnant I thought she’d be more considerate

Jeez. Your pregnancy, your car, your inconvenience, your stressful renovation… It all doesn’t revolve around you? If you couldn’t get out of your car without transferring paint onto her car, park somewhere else!
Fix what you did - even if it’s just “a wipe off”. Bet your neighbour can’t wait for you to move. She’s sure as shit not the unreasonable one.

I was gonna say it definitely isn't only the OP that's looking forward to moving day 😂

raisingstars · 24/05/2025 22:55

@Panterusblackishyeah because I enjoy purposely damaging other peoples property makes me feel so much better

She asked you politely to look at the damage you'd done to her car. I'm not sure why you've taken such offence to this

@CanelliniBeansnobody purposely would want to “damage” someone else’s car if I’ve done it then it’s clearly because I couldn’t fit where the space is so tight, my flat is on a steep hill and I suffer with severe lower back pain atm the last thing I want to do is park down the main road and walk up because I have a tiny bit of paint on her car 🫣

Precisely, “it’s clearly because I couldn’t fit”.
Your space is therefore not appropriate for you to use at this time as you can’t utilise it without you causing damage.

@mrskittenpiewell how do you expect to fit out of your car door if someone is parked so tight to you pregnant or not but being heavily pregnant makes it much harder? You don’t sound like you’ve been pregnant before 😂 I’m sure there’s been times you’ve had to lean your door on someone else to get out so stop it please be realistic I know what Mumsnet is like anyway don’t know why I bother tbh😂

@BallerinaRadioI do get where she’s coming from but I wouldn’t do something like that and leave a note myself but I guess that’s just me and I’m too nice especially when we were friendly and nice to each other it’s come as a shock tbh maybe she could have worded it nicer in the letter I don’t know she was asking us to sell our wardrobe to her the other day and now she’s talking to us like this it’s just come as a bit of shock tbh

Yes much better to damage someone's property to ease your own existence

MoominMai · 24/05/2025 22:50

@raisingstars honestly you do sound quite entitled. Just because you have a lot of things going on in your life right now doesn’t negate anything (no matter how small it may appear to you) going on in hers. If you’re so sure that’s all it is then why bother making a MN post lol. If it’s all very first world problems just give her a call then go investigate, whip out your magic wipe and job done! Good luck anyway with your baby and move!

You genuinely can't see why she's annoyed? You keep brushing it off as 'just paint' but you must be able see where she's coming from?

raisingstars · 24/05/2025 22:47

@olympicsrockOk so you’ve never ever done it before? Yep ok because you fly out of the roof of your car yep 😂

OP posts:
CanelliniBeans · 24/05/2025 22:46

Go and look with her. I’m sure she’s tried rubbing it off. Even pregnant women shouldn’t damage other people’s cars. Park elsewhere until you move if you can’t exit the car without damaging others

raisingstars · 24/05/2025 22:46

@ReadingSoManyThreadsTHANK YOU! somebody who finally understands! I usually am really careful as well as I wouldn’t want to damage my own door who does? But if you have no other choice and the car door doesn’t open all the way and you need to squeeze out what can I do? It’s literally some paint! I’ve never hit her car door hard or anything ever just had to lean on it to squeeze out

OP posts:
raisingstars · 24/05/2025 22:44

@LaMarschallinWell being pregnant makes it twice as harder especially when your struggling with severe lower back pain and finding it difficult to get in and out

OP posts:
ReadingSoManyThreads · 24/05/2025 22:43

If it doesn't wipe off, try a bit of T-cut. I can't believe people are seriously suggesting OP pays for a whole door to be re-sprayed due to a tiny bit of paint transfer. Jesus! By the way, I am super careful with car doors, but come on, it can be very difficult getting in and out of tight spaces with a full-term baby bump.

olympicsrock · 24/05/2025 22:43

It is wrong to lean your car door on someone else’s car. Damaging other people’s property is wrong and not acceptable behaviour.
Simple.

LaMarschallin · 24/05/2025 22:42

if she doesn’t like it maybe she should move because there’s no way someone is getting out of their car without having to lean their door on hers

So, nothing to do with being pregnant?

BallerinaRadio · 24/05/2025 22:40

This is just bizarre

@VivXCall her to say what sorry I got a bit of paint on your car? Fair enough if it doesn’t come off but I will try to take it off first It’s no biggie 3rd world problems seriously

I think you mean "....1st world problems...."

Youbutterbelieve · 24/05/2025 22:39

Definitely try and get it off for her before you go. If you don't she could involve insurance companies which you don't want the stress of!

raisingstars · 24/05/2025 22:38

@Londonrach1well whoever parks next to her will be doing the same thing so good luck to her 😂 if she doesn’t like it maybe she should move because there’s no way someone is getting out of their car without having to lean their door on hers

Yes, you absolutely should apologise for causing paint transfer to her car. Obviously.

Well said.

Londonrach1 · 24/05/2025 22:35

Yabu. Can't believe you think anything else. I bet the neighbour is pleased you are moving away. You never ever rest a door an someone s car. It's rude and yes I've been pregnant and lived in a situation whilst pregnant where cars were parked in blocks next to each other and I never think of damaging a neighbour s car.
