Petty neighbour

So I’ve been living in my flat with my family for just over 3 years now, everyone has been lovely never had an issue with anyone, we have 1 allocated parking space for each flat and the parking is really tight, I always be careful to not hit anyone’s car door with my door but sometimes I have to lean my door on there’s to get in and out as I won’t fit otherwise and I think it’s gotten harder now as I’m 37 weeks pregnant!
so in my post box today I found a handwritten note from the neighbour who parks next to me and she’s said she’s noticed some paint marks of my car on her car and if we could call her to look into it together 😐 its just transferred paint and will come off even if you lick your finger I’m so shocked she’s actually said something like this as she knows I’m pregnant and we’re also moving out in 2 days!
Do I act like I’ve never seen the note and just leave or do I actually call her I’m literally waddling around in so much pain moving house and heavily pregnant I thought she’d be more considerate

Not sure why your litany of problems are anything to do with her.. she's not gonna refrain from complaining about your actions because you're pregnant, back pain, damaged bath, moving house etc. and why SHOULD she? It's literally not her problem you're knocked up!

@ReadingSoManyThreadsTHANK YOU! somebody who finally understands! I usually am really careful as well as I wouldn’t want to damage my own door who does? But if you have no other choice and the car door doesn’t open all the way and you need to squeeze out what can I do? It’s literally some paint! I’ve never hit her car door hard or anything ever just had to lean on it to squeeze out

I agree too OP. Sometimes you do need to rest your door on a car parked to get out in a tight space. I can’t understand really people saying they’ve never had to do it. Some parking spaces are just super tight and if you are somewhere alone you can’t just not park your car. It doesn’t damage either car. I don’t think I’ve ever had paint transfer doing so but as you say paint transfer normally comes off so I’d just go out and do that for the neighbour and let them know.

@sheknowsitstoolateMy husbands just done it now he said there isn’t a single mark left it was only 3/4 tiny white spots literally omg I can’t believe she was crying over that 🫣 wow if I’d seen it before I would’ve just done it myself honestly I’d be embarrassed to write someone a note without trying to sort it myself

How does writing you a note mean she was crying over it?

If I'm parked close to another car so that there is a risk of my car door touching theirs, I always hold on to the door around the widest bit to make sure it doesn't. If I can't open the door and get out without hurting my fingers, obviously I'm parked too close and I either repark or get out the other side. It's really not difficult to avoid hitting another car in those circumstances.

DiscoBeat · 24/05/2025 23:36

To be honest if you can't open your door without it pushing into her car then you shouldn't park there. Paint doesn't just come off cars. It will have been scraped into the other car to come off.

mmsnet · 24/05/2025 23:31

You are rude, entitled and dont give a shit about other peoples property

Bet your neighbour is glad youre fucking off

Nominative · 24/05/2025 23:30

raisingstars · 24/05/2025 22:38

@Londonrach1well whoever parks next to her will be doing the same thing so good luck to her 😂 if she doesn’t like it maybe she should move because there’s no way someone is getting out of their car without having to lean their door on hers

So it's nothing to do with you being pregnant?

I wonder how she's managing not to lean her car doors on your car?

MoominMai · 24/05/2025 23:29

Delphiniumandlupins · 24/05/2025 23:20

If it was so easy to sort why didn't you wipe your neighbour's car door when you knew you might have rubbed paint onto it? You know your door has been leaning on hers, you could have checked for paint and cleaned it off. This would have stopped any drama.

That’s what I wondered lol. Bit odd her husband went out at 11pm and magically wiped it all clean. Wouldn’t it have been easier to actually view the damage and sort it in natural daylight?! OP just sounds entitled and immature inbetween banging on about her stone bath and brass radiator damage 🙄 and how she doesn’t mind as if everyone should have her approach to life. Completely pointless thread really when it all it took was her husband and a tissue after all that and she’s going back and forth on MN for hours arguing with strangers😂

VivX · 24/05/2025 23:25

raisingstars · 24/05/2025 22:36

@VivXCall her to say what sorry I got a bit of paint on your car? Fair enough if it doesn’t come off but I will try to take it off first It’s no biggie 3rd world problems seriously

"Call her to say what sorry I got a bit of paint on your car"
Yes, obviously that. It's common courtesy to reply to her very straightforward and polite note to let her know what's going on.
You could have sorted all of this out really quickly and simply, hours ago, in the time it has taken you to disagree with everyone on here.

(Edit typos)

raisingstars · 24/05/2025 23:19

@CanelliniBeansBut it wasn’t really damaged was it ? Ive had my brand new stone bath damaged and scratched my brand new brass radiator scratched from top to bottom, my new door frames bashed, my flooring completely ruined after paying so so much for it as well and I’ve said nothing! Because some of them was an accident and accidents happen I don’t go around asking people to go pay for it I know a lot of people would and I probably should’ve

@MathsMagpieOh don’t worry I’m sure she’ll be over the moon that it’s gone and won’t worry if he’s been fiddling with her car for Christ sake 😂

OP posts:
raisingstars · 24/05/2025 23:12

@LaMarschallinYes were friendly to each other but she moans about others a lot we’ve never had a problem between ourselves before or anyone else in the flat and the mark is gone like it was never there I knew it was just a bit of paint lol she really didn’t have to take it as far as putting a note in our letter box like that

Did your husband ask her permission before fiddling with her car this evening?

Wise up, he just wiped off the mark she had complained about. He has quite literally solved the problem!

CanelliniBeans · 24/05/2025 23:09

You sound very entitled and unreasonable. Try and imagine having your car damaged that way by someone so entitled.

LaMarschallin · 24/05/2025 23:09

I’m too nice especially when we were friendly and nice to each other

Really? You're not sounding very nice here.

Also, one minute you say you "were friendly and nice to each other" then say:

She moans about everyone in the flat she’s going to have a good moan about the new tenants nobody bothers her but she’s one of them ones who thinks she owns the place!

Presumably, the mark will get fainter and easier to remove and your neighbour will get nastier until everyone on MN agrees with you.

Praise be! Your actions have caused me damage and costs to my car

bless you and bless that you couldn’t get out but you did anyway

sheknowsitstoolate · 24/05/2025 23:01

Go and rub the paint off if it’s so easy to get rid of and let her know you’ve sorted it

@BallerinaRadioI do get where she’s coming from but I wouldn’t do something like that and leave a note myself but I guess that’s just me and I’m too nice especially when we were friendly and nice to each other it’s come as a shock tbh maybe she could have worded it nicer in the letter I don’t know she was asking us to sell our wardrobe to her the other day and now she’s talking to us like this it’s just come as a bit of shock tbh

You’re too nice? Grin

Just because the red paint just wiped
off yours, doesn't mean you've done the same damage to hers.

i HATE my car being damaged by other cars doors, so i park as carefully as I can, but it still happens. My neighbour who I get on with very very well. Chipped paint on my door the other day & im pissed off because she's hit careful.

but my paintwork is scuffed in places due to people 'l resting' their doors on mine, then getting out. The change in height (their dirt moving up and down due the change in weight as they get out scuffs my paint work. It pisses me off, but what can you do??

I've mentally prepared to have it sprayed at some stage.
