Just being nosey and quite bored 😅

So..me, mid 40’s, live abroad, sat on balcony drinking a Somersby, Dd, 7 will come up to bed in a minute and we’ll do bedtime story. I’ll probably come back on the balcony when she’s asleep. Dh going out

Anyone else? Vague age, area, plans? Sm shows me everyone is out and my road is very quiet

UK based, late 30s, just come to the coast for the half term with DH and my 2 little DC.
We are usually very on it, set off early not to waste the day, and quite strict with routine! But we've done it very differently today - didn't pack until this morning, didn't give the kids lunch at all (didn't plan anything so they've just had a ton of snacks 😂) then we've spent a spontaneous evening near a beach, had our tea outside, and let the kids go to bed late!
I'm currently debating whether to have a nice hot shower or just go to bed early, very exciting I know.
Also holidays are the only time DH and I share a bed (due to snoring) so a bit nervous about how tired I'm going to be tomorrow! Must plan in a coffee shop!

Arlanymor · 24/05/2025 21:07

Also mid-40s in rainy sunny Swansea Bay. Dad stayed over last night and we had a nice brunch before he left, then I went into town to get some bits and pieces, came home and had a tapas tea. Cwtched up in bed with a glass of wine and scrolling through potential holidays for November as I have not been abroad since 2018 - I think I fancy Madeira and I would melt if I tried to do it in the summer, plus gives me time to put some money aside as I am going down to four days a week in my job from June (can’t wait!). Even though it’s a bit blustery I live in the Marina so can hear waves and boat bells, it’s really quite lovely. Tomorrow I have a creative writing workshop and then drinks with friends at a local pub with live music in the afternoon. Feeling quite content to be fair.

Backinthedress · 24/05/2025 21:07

Early 40s. DS 13 is having the world's longest shit, so I'm sitting at the kitchen table with DP doom scrolling while DD,10, keeps starting conversations about her latest obsession because her toothbrush is trapped in the bathroom with her brother and his laptop (whyyyy?!)

DP and I gonna watch a bit of telly together once she's actually gone to bed.

Just back home from dinner at our local Italian. We’ve been going there about 8 years and it’s great as it’s very accessible for my elderly and wheelchair bound FIL and for my 12 year old with AFRID. We go 1 or 2 times a month.

It was not good tonight. They have clearly had a change of management and most of the staff. I spoke to the head waiter and gave some gentle feedback and it was amicable even though 3 of 5 of us left hungry as the food was inedible. They did reduce the bill and tried very hard to get us to say that we would come back but I need a reliable and consistent local restaurant and am happy to pay for it - not to accept cheaper ingredients and blatant cost savings (no Parmesan offered for example). I think they’ve tried to keep the prices the same whilst dealing with increased costs, and I get that, but I think they’ve made the wrong decisions. I feel very sad about it.

But anyway, even though I am mourning our previously lovely local restaurant I am in the kitchen with a glass of red and the dog sitting next to me, DH is playing Waterloo Sunset on the guitar in another room and the kids are playing Minecraft together upstairs. It’s nice

40s Devon, sat in garden under a parasol as it’s just started raining a little, smoking a cigarette( I know!) just had steak and chips with cheesy garlic bread for dinner. 18 year old dd gone to a party. Me and dh will probably watch a film on Netflix soon

Mumtobabyhavoc · 24/05/2025 21:06

@BrunchBarBandit I hate a bad meal. 😿
@OysterSatin jealous!! Enjoy! 😺
@Noodge still chilly enough for the electric blanket?!🙀

... and baby is now, blissfully, asleep. 😇

OysterSatin · 24/05/2025 21:05

52, Ireland, waiting for friends to pick me up on the way to a gig in a little seaside venue. Bonfire on the beach afterwards. Option of staying over with a friend, and having an early swim and a harbourside sauna in the morning.

Noodge · 24/05/2025 21:05

Early forties. Live alone aside from my beautiful dog. Currently eating hummus and crackers and before posting this was paying invoices/doing random bits of paperwork. I have quite bad period pain and am annoyed that I have napped away some of the afternoon thus having to do it now. I'll take myself off on a date to my local shortly for a couple of wines then home to bed with my electric blanket on and the dog. How exciting.

Holliegee · 24/05/2025 21:05

I’m 50, in the north west it’s a full and damp day, going dark already - I’m sat on my phone and watching tv, partner is on his computer doing work stuff - youngest son and his girlfriend have been here all
afternoon and for dinner so had a nice day.
im drinking vimto and eating grapes - I live opposite a park and there’s no children playing on it or teenagers due to the weather and the cat is snoozing beside me.
i think I’ll put my pjs on and suggest an early night !!

MagpieCastle · 24/05/2025 21:05

Late 50's just got back from meeting a friend and having a wander round Spitalfields. About to have a Prawn Bhuna and watch some TV before turning in.

AliTheMinx · 24/05/2025 21:05
  1. Scrolling on sofa under blanket after a busy day helping my DS (13) revise for his upcoming Year 8 exams. Worrying I should be doing more revision notes, but quite sleepy, so will call a day on that. DS and DH are both gaming together upstairs, so I'm considering an early night. Have just had a pre-mixrd Archers and Lemonafe... rock n' roll!
Barney16 · 24/05/2025 21:04

Sixty, in the south, lying on sofa whilst DH and I watch Code of Silence on catch up. Absolutely knackered, but comfy and cosy and it's half term. Hurray.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 24/05/2025 21:04

This is a really nice thread.... it's a bit like when you're travelling out of town on a train in the evening, and you get a glimpse of twilight lit houses, seeing little snapshots of people's lives as they're cooking, or sitting down for dinner through warmly lit windows, or you see kids and a dog playing in the garden.. maybe a barbecue being fired up.

It's making me feel a warm sense of connection, if that doesn't sound weird, imagining the visuals.

I want everyone to be having peace and respite from their problems, for these minutes.

Yes, I'm a soppy old mare.

BookWorrum · 24/05/2025 21:04

I’m 41. Curled up on the couch with very severe period pain (happens maybe 2-3 times a year). Too sick to have dinner so my lovely husband has just brought me a drink, some snacks, and a blanket.

Going to take painkillers and go to bed soon and hope it’s gone in the morning.

(I’m usually not such a moaner, I promise!)

Mumtobabyhavoc · 24/05/2025 21:04

Single mum in YVR, nursing baby atm 😹, older toddler put self down for a nap! 👏👏👏👏
Just hung up a load of laundry with plans to get two more loads done once baby falls asleep.
Gorgeous spring day here and about 16c.
Morning was up and out for older one's sport.

anareen · 24/05/2025 21:02

Early (ish!) 40s on an island, just got the kids to bed, although I can hear ds is still awake (preteen)
. we have sausage and chips in the oven. Hubby’s stretched out on the sofa, scrolling after a long day.. sitting with my feet up staring out the picture window across our garden to our front field with calves in, slopes downwards towards a river with loads of mature trees and honeysuckle. It’s so green and lush. It’s drizzly but warm, lots of sea gulls about which is unusual inland, someone must have been ploughing on the next farm.
when teas ready we’ll watch clarksons farm and then go to bed, busy day tomorrow with church and we’ll take the kids somewhere in the afternoon, hopefully it’ll be dry possibly down to a beach, most likely ice Cream will feature!

Lovely! Where is that, sounds beautiful

Already on a crown victory.

Don't see how life could get better.

AzureShark · 24/05/2025 21:01

Late 30's. UK.

Had open surgery yesterday morning to remove a dermoid cyst and an ovary. So currently on night 2 on a hospital ward, in pain and trying not to freak out about my temperature being raised. Waiting for a Dr to call round.

Feeling sorry for myself and would very much like to be on a balcony abroad about now!

GreenDogDot · 24/05/2025 21:00

30s, SW England; just finished breastfeeding the baby and passed her to DH to jiggle to sleep. I’m supposed to be leaving baby (with someone other than her Dad) for the first time tomorrow and I’m on the verge of cancelling. In case I hold my nerve I should probably have a scrub in the shower so I can put some fake tan on though!

UseNailOil · 24/05/2025 21:00

Late 50s, southern England. In bed early, husband is downstairs watching telly.

Greenfingers37 · 24/05/2025 21:00

Just had a lovely homemade curry whilst watching BGT (load of shit) with DH. DS at gig in town. Won’t relax properly until he’s home.

EwwSprouts · 24/05/2025 20:59

Late 50's in Yorkshire. I'm scrolling and watching a film. DH in another room watching cricket highlights. Adult son at university. Had a lovely afternoon at the theatre with a friend. No plans for tomorrow.
