To wonder if there's any actual evidence that's trans women are not safe in male loos?

I feel, as a FWR lurker, that I would have seen linked articles to bank up the fact that trans identifying men aren't safe in men's loos, and therefore that's the rational why women should budge up and accept trans identifying men in their spaces.

I'm pretty sure with a quick Google I could fund evident that trans identity men have made women's spaces unsafe (Kate delowski? The one who worked for a charity and made a masturbation video).

So AIBU to wonder what hard evidence there is?

Then maybe individual unisex toilets? I'm sure everyone would much prefer that than to be surrounded by potential perverts.

They're not as safe as unisex toilets with gaps under the cubicle doors.

Wow, how victim blaming do you sound! You are no longer at threat, men are not allowed into female spaces.. That doesn’t mean it’s okay to throw trans people in lions den because they might wear lipstick and a mini skirt.

Women have to moderate their clothes, behaviour and language to protect themselves from men all the time. Does that not sound sensible to you?

Regardless, there is no need for men who identify as women to use the ladies. They can use the men’s (with very few problems) or the unisex provision. High profile trans ppl like Fionne Orlander or Miranda Yardley have reported no problems in the men’s. Men dress up as women quite frequently- stag dos, theme night fancy dress parties - they’re all fine.

You're wrong about women being challenged in toilets, and resorting to slating people's looks is just lazy nastiness.

The only trans woman I know in real life is a nailed on 10/10 and I guarantee you wouldn't be able to pick them out of a line up if your life depended on it.

Funnily enough womens lives DO actually depend on being able to tell someones sex so I am 10/10 certain I can
And where did I "slate someones looks"?
Is it offensive not to pretend we can't tell what sex someone is?

Because disabled provision is awful already and those of us who genuinely need those toilets have no other alternative

I think it’s up to the trans person to decide which option is safer for them, depending on the situation, venue, context and risk.

No it is not up to the transperson. It is not up to an individual to decide if the law applies to them or of they can ignore it. Or of their wants are more important than the effects of their actions on other people.

The UK law is clear and it is amazing how many people and organisations seem to think they are above the law.

I’m a missing something.. Op didn’t ask, should trans women be allowed into women’s restrooms, they asked if trans women are at more of a risk in the men’s restroom than men who aren’t trans?
Yet the thread has turned into.. we don’t want trans women in our spaces. You don’t have to worry about that anymore.. It’s not allowed.
Does that mean there can’t be a conversation that acknowledges that trans people don’t feel safe and need an alternative.

Okay, so on the basis on that question then - where is the evidence that transwomen are more at risk in the men’s toilets than other men? The odd anecdotal article doesn’t actually show any stats or evidence that they are more at risk than men in general - including boys, effeminate gay men, men with disabilities and so on.

And yes, we fully support them having their own space if they wish to campaign for it. It’s not women rejecting that idea.

Calm down, men are not allowed in women’s spaces, you don’t need to worry about it anymore!!

In Tenerife they are. A big black woman was ENCOURAGING men into the women's toilets at a club. Suffice to say, I didn't oblige.

Why can't trans people just use the disabled loos? And no, I'm not saying it's a disability! I'm just saying, I always use the disabled loo myself if I can avoid being surrounded by trampy public loo users...

That's a conversation for the men.

There is plenty of evidence that men attack other men in male toilets so from that argument I guess transwomen are not particularly safe in men’s toilets no.

But I’ll tell you who is less safe - my 11 year old son who is pre-pubescent and less than 5 foot tall. He is a lot less safe than a transwomen who is probably a foot taller than him and has been through (male) puberty. But I still don’t let* him go in the women’s toilets because it would not be fair on his 11 year old female classmates who need privacy and dignity. Even if it is safer for him.

*By let I actually mean force as he would be mortified to be expected to go into the girls toilets.

I was thinking about this recently and concluded that we would all be a lot better off if the activists had campaigned for a third space instead of fighting to use ours. As a mum and grand mum there have been occasions when I haven’t wanted my boys to go into the men’s loos on their own but have also been reluctant to take them in with me. A neutral space would have been ideal.

Didntask · 24/05/2025 19:34

Evedence · 24/05/2025 17:54

I agree entirely, but where I'm coming from is they're stating something to achieve a goal. To be properly persuasive they've got to back that up with evidence, haven't they?

No! It doesn't matter how 'unsafe' they are on men's loos. It could be the most dangerous place on earth but frankly, I couldn't give a shit. They need to make their own spaces, not take ours. Male on male violence is NOT a problem for women to solve or shield GNC men from.

Apart from the fact that many of them have no intention of complying with the law, you mean?

It doesn’t matter how minuscule people think the threat is from the ‘small’ proportion of people who call themselves trans and have gender dysphoria. You let one bloke in, and you let them all in.

Women and girls are overwhelmingly at threat from men. Even more so when they are in private spaces where they are in a state of undress or vulnerable. Why don’t all the bleeding hearts care about that? Good old fashioned misogyny.

No male bodies in women’s spaces. None.

Perhaps it would reassure trans people to know that they aren't in fact the main character, that most people aren't the slightest bit interested in them, and that men using public toilets aren't scrutinising other male people wearing jeans and T-shirts for signs of a trans aura.

Very well put.

Women are not being challenged in womens toilets and even if they were I think they would survive it.
And no, a lot of Trans women do not look "no different" to women. No genital inspections are required to know who is a man and who is a woman

Yes I think we're supposed to see they feeling in their heads. I could be wrong though as no one can tell me the difference between a biological man and a biological man who identifies as not a man.

No, I've never heard of a trans woman assaulting anyone in a toilet. I jave heard of cis men attacking men and women in toilets though.

So the issue is male violence. That's exactly why we need all men to stay out of female only spaces.

You use the disabled loo when you're not disabled?

JFC.

Disabled loos are for people who can't use regular loos, not people who just don't want to use regular loos.

If they're empty, what's the problem?
