Have the school done the right thing even though it punishes the wrong set of people ?

DC is in year 6 and as I am sure everyone with a child in the same year is aware the leavers celebrations are in full swing.
The leavers hoodies were organised by the class parent rep.
The hoodies were handed out a while ago and the children have been proudly wearing them 2 days a week in school and were due to wear them for their residential.
unfortunately the Rep has purposely left 1 child without a hoody and also did not include their name on everyone else’s hoody.
I am not sure why it has only been bought to the attention of the school now, but they sent an email basically saying due to one child’s name not being on the hoody they are now banned from being worn on the school premises. Some very angry parents who think the school are punishing the children for something not in their control.
I am not sure what else the school could of done ? I believe they made the right decision but I seem to be the minority!

I feel for all the children here.

Those that were so happy / excited to get their leavers hoody’s now banned from wearing them casting a shadow over them. Also the parents who have forked out £20-£30 for something normally allowed now banned.

Class rep sucks for excluding one child. Would love to know their excuse.

Theworsttiming · 23/05/2025 20:02

And it wasn’t done accidentally?

Hankunamatata · 23/05/2025 20:02

Bet the parents who are angry would be the type to insist no one wears them if it was their child

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 23/05/2025 20:01

What a nasty piece of work. Im glad you agree with the school. Anyone who wants to get angry about it needs to be angry at the class rep

How do the missing child’s parents feel ?

I don’t know, I don’t think many of the other parents talk to her after some issues with actually the same set of parents so she doesn’t really talk to anyone. I do believe there is some additional needs present with her DC.
I am concerned though that it will be her who gets the blame.

I think the school did the right thing.

I agree with you. However, why did this stupid fuckwit of a ‘class rep’ purposely leave this child out?

So a parent is bullying a child? WTF? I would be expecting that parent to fix the error - at their own cost. But I'm not sure there is an easy way to compel them to do so in a reasonable timeframe.

Mumof3bringwine · 23/05/2025 19:53

Yes. I don’t know the complete reason as to why only snippets but yes.

Well that's appalling, and I hope everyone knows that this immature bully is the reason, not the school!

witwatwoo · 23/05/2025 20:00

How do the missing child’s parents feel ?

ThereWillBeSun · 23/05/2025 19:59

That is horrific! My sons year 11 leavers hoodies have gone wrong, the school sent a full list of names to the hoodie company but they’ve only put on the names of those that bought them.

Mumof3bringwine · 23/05/2025 19:59

I agree my DS was a little “ disappointed “ but soon was over it.

I'm with the school on this. Class rep has been absolute ass. Iv been in charge of a few leavers hoodies and have the class teachers to check and the school secretary so this doesn't happen

Parents should direct their anger to class rep

Wickedclimber · 23/05/2025 19:59

The school have absolutely done the right thing and any parent who is angry at that is as bad as the bullying rep who purposely left out a child.

Obilisque · 23/05/2025 19:58

Unbelievable. What a terrible thing to do.

Auroraloves · 23/05/2025 19:57

It’s absolutely ridiculous. The class rep is a bully. Not a good example set to their children

witwatwoo · 23/05/2025 19:57

School’s not punishing anybody, it’s the nasty fucker parent that’s at fault

GladysHeeler · 23/05/2025 19:57

I think the school did the right thing. And the only thing they could have done.

It’s stuff like this that puts a stop to nice things happening. No doubt there will be no hoodies next year.

Oddsocksanduglyshoes · 23/05/2025 19:56

The adult responsible needs to pay for a complete reprint of all hoody’s

This !!

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 23/05/2025 19:57

The class rep should pay for a new set of hoodies.

ARichtGoodDram · 23/05/2025 19:56

School have totally done the right thing. It might be shit for the kids to not be able to wear their hoodies, but no way can the school allow the bullying by the parent to be advertised in front of the child daily.

I imagine that will be the end of the leavers hoodies in that school. I worked in several schools that ended up banning them and without fail it was down to a parent (or two).

Octavia64 · 23/05/2025 19:56

School have done the right thing.

like others I suspect next year either no hoodies or school will do.

that’s absolutely brutal. Poor kid.

Oddsocksanduglyshoes · 23/05/2025 19:56

TheNightSurgeon · 23/05/2025 19:56

The school were really between rock and a hard place there, I think they made the right call tbh, but would allow the kids to wear what they wanted on those days instead of the hoodies.

The class rep is an absolute arsehole.

SquashedSquid · 23/05/2025 19:56

That's disgusting. Shame on that adult. Were they not approved by the class teacher or the head before they went to print? I always get two others to look at my hoodie orders before I submit them.

NerrSnerr · 23/05/2025 19:56

I agree with the school. That is awful of the rep- why did they do it?
