Re-grouted the bathroom floor at 2 this morning☺️

AmIEnough · 27/05/2025 07:35

I’ve done this at 3am before…

DearDenimEagle · 24/05/2025 12:29

I didn’t get up to clean because that would disturb everyone else but I used to be out in the garden in my dressing gown and wellies at 3 am, weeding

I have the opposite problem. I need to clean, don’t want to so take a nap instead 😂

Same 🤣🤣

browneyes77 · 24/05/2025 09:35

I have to motivate myself to clean during the day. There’s zero chance of me doing it at night if I can’t sleep 🤣

I’d put the tv on quietly on a comedy channel/film, pop my eye mask on and just relax and listen to the tv. Although I go to sleep this way most nights anyway as my brain becomes overactive when it’s silent.

Usually if I’m having trouble sleeping, I’d just pop a Nytol. Works like a charm 😁

stayathomer · 23/05/2025 22:49

I always stay in bed because at least then your body gets a rest.

Beautifulweeds · 23/05/2025 22:47

Whatever works for you to help you get back to sleep. For me I just keep tossing and turning or will put on an ASMD video, chamomile tea. Most just toss and turn but wouldn't dream of cleaning. Xxx

No, I hate cleaning at the best of times, so I definitely wouldn't be getting up in the middle of the night to do it.
If I can't sleep, I read until I realise that I've just read that one paragraph 3 times, then I put the book down and off to sleep I go.

No because its unfair on your family and neighbours. Read a book or get headphones.

Jeez how noisy is your cleaning? I do love a good scrub and mop session.
However Horlicks is my go to sleep aid.

Sorbetto · 23/05/2025 21:44

No I scroll through mumsnet and read about other people cleaning x

ilovegranny · 23/05/2025 20:10

Cup of tea and two slices of buttered toast or crumpets. Read for half an hour until the carbs kick in, and a blissful sleep. I don’t know why it’s not prescribed.

Mummysgogetter · 23/05/2025 19:41

I couldn’t bring myself to do something as tiring as cleaning, it’s the last thing I feel like doing when exhausted but can’t sleep. I usually get up come downstairs, read for a while, cool my body down then go back to bed

Santina · 23/05/2025 19:22

Yep, I often get up and start cleaning the kitchen. Not that it's dirty in the first place. When I'm finished, I make a cup of tea, sit on the sofa and watch TV, sometimes I go back to sleep, I'll wait until about 7:30 before I take my husband tea in bed.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 23/05/2025 19:21

Hell no! Apart from anything else, I'd wake everyone up by cleaning. If I were awake and really knew I wasn't going to get back to sleep I'd read or knit.

3am ironing usually puts me straight back to sleep.

Me too!!!

GYBE4 · 23/05/2025 19:02

I was happy for a while when I had no neighbour near my kitchen because it meant I could do some peaceful late night laundry. Someone else has moved in since alas, so no more late night spins for me.

Nanalisa60 · 23/05/2025 18:59

I will get up and do the ironing if I can’t sleep!! Then when it’s finished I go back to bed and usually fall straight asleep to sleep!! ( watching the tv while doing the ironing)

spanieleyes · 23/05/2025 18:52

Yes, I frequently do the same, I must have the cleanest bathroom on my street! I fall asleep very easily but, after an hour or two I wake up. I try everything to get back to sleep, warm bath, read a book, watch TV, don’t watch TV, anything! 3-4 hours later I’m still awake so I getup and clean! Eventually I can go back to bed and will fall asleep, usually about half an hour before it’s time to get up!

MissHollysDolly · 23/05/2025 18:30

i lie awake and think of the long list of things that I could be doing

oldmoaner · 23/05/2025 18:30

If I can't sleep I put the TV on, guaranteed I'll go to sleep then.

I do this on a regular basis too, I used to clean late at night and love it then go to bed late but now I go to bed and end up getting up and doing more than I intend, x

MMUmum · 23/05/2025 17:51

I get up and do a Duo Lingo lesson, or an online jigsaw, usually ready to go back to bed after about an hour

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 23/05/2025 10:38

Yeah definitely

I definitely get up and clean and not... go hunting for snacks and scroll on tiktok 🙈
