DH is NOT a morning person. Getting out of bed is a task he just cannot master at the best of times and needs about 10 alarms before he gets out of bed.

Recently, he’s announced that he will start doing some exercise before work. Great - good for him. His alarm is now set at the wonderful time of 5am, an hour before I get up with the kids and then it’s go go go.

Only he is too tired to make it, his alarm blares at 5am, waking me in the process, he snoozes it a million times so I can’t get back to sleep because baby starts shuffling about in their cot and now I’ve been robbed of an hour of precious sleep!

I asked him to get rid of the alarm but heck! How can he TRY to go an exercise if he doesn’t put his alarm on? I mean I see his point but come on!

so AIBU - suck it up, he’s TRYING or YANBU - that would drive me round the bend!

I am considering setting up a bed in the garage for him!!

As to the watch type alarms - he has one. When I say he sleeps like a LOG, he is unwakeable (probably not a word). This thing can buzz for hours, it wouldn’t even make him flinch.

Tell him to get a different type of alarm - there are ones he can wear - like a wrist watch - that will wake him up via a vibration (ooerrrr) rather than a loud noise that bothers both of you.

No jury would convict you.

ThatDaringEagle · 19/05/2025 13:11

Explain why this is totally unacceptable.

Then get him to either get a smart watch with a vibration alert alarm , or better to sleep in to a reasonable hour for the whole household & maybe do his exercise after work instead if possible. Simples.

P.s. otherwise show him the door ;)

Quite often I see posts asking if I'd be annoyed and think really, life's too short, but this? I'd be fuming. There's no way DP would do that more than once.

He is so selfish, I would absolutely not tolerate that OP.

MsBette · 19/05/2025 13:09

Hes Being incredibly selfish. He’s never going to get up at 5am. I’d go as far as to confiscate his alarm.

WhySoManySocks · 19/05/2025 13:08

I would get a new patio, per MN speak.

maximalistmaximus · 19/05/2025 13:07

I’d break up over this.
