Husband uses my towel!!

Exactly that!

Am I being unreasonable to think DH should use his own towel when showering/bathing?

We hang our towels on the back on the back of our bedroom door, my towel is usually pink or purple as I bought them for me and my daughter when we lived together, just us two, a girls house. DH’s towel is usually blue or green, from his house when he lived by himself!

I’m suffering tonight with cramps and back pain and it may be because it’s TOTM but DH had a shower and then came downstairs with my pink towel around his waist and it really annoyed me!! I’ve told him so many times to use his own towel. Tonight he just said in his nonchalant male tone “sorry I just grabbed the first one I saw!!”. He just doesn’t seem to get it. I only changed the towels this weekend and now he has used both of ours, so I’m going to have to get another clean towel tomorrow morning!

YABU - get yourself some chocolate and get over it he is your husband!

YANBU - he should be more understanding, send him out to get you chocolate!

Just a thought, he isn't colour blind is he?

I had a similar problem with my then teenage son, who kept using my towel. In exasperation I said to him, "Look, mine is the mushroom coloured one and yours is (jade) green, so stop using mine."

He responded, "What do you mean? They are both the same colour!"

I then got out an old visual perception textbook to check his colour vision, and sure enough, he is colour blind. We'd never noticed before.

Since then, I've bought much stronger coloured towels so we don't have that problem anymore.

No, definitely not colour blind. Just annoying!!

Don't be ludicrous. You let him ejaculate inside you, I imagine you put your mouth on his genitals.. he's just come out of a shower and is clean. What on earth is the issue?

That her towel will be all wet when she wants to use it and he will never need to bother washing his own

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 13/05/2025 22:02

Dillydollydingdong · 13/05/2025 21:47

Keep your towels somewhere else, where they're not so instantly grabbable.

But they should be grabbable
For her when she has her shower

Well I never realised that people in a family household had their own towels. We just have shared towels. Are we the weird ones?

😮😮

I don't understand how people can be so nonchalant about sharing towels. I don't think, even when I was a child, we would have shared towels (might be wrong about that though).

Ours are left over the shower room radiator after use and we know not to use each others.

This. Exactly this. Never grew up sharing towels, never will share. I can’t get my head around it!!

What on earth does chocolate have to do with anything?

Or are you saying you're in a mood because 'period' and not actually because he used your towel? 🙄

Temporaryname158 · 13/05/2025 22:00

@mugglewump same here, a family of towel sharers….and nothing bad had ever happened!

Lovemybunnies · 13/05/2025 21:59

I have the same problem. My husband grabs whichever towel is nearest. It’s not stupid as there are skin infections etc that can be passed around. I hate it. There has been the odd occasion it has happened with my toothbrush as well…

Stickortwigs · 13/05/2025 21:58

Couples have separate towels?!

My dh is well trained... He uses his own towel.
Not so long ago Hell broke loose here when teen ds used my large pink towel.

Disgusting cretin...

😂😂

I have one large pink towel and one hair sized pink towel. I feel your pain!

Wot! Really. You share towels? Bathtowels?

Clownsy · 13/05/2025 21:58

Honestly OP I think this is him subtly telling you that he will do EXACTLY as he pleases and doesn't give a shit what you think.

Massive red flag that you have had him move in.

4 children here. All with different colour flags.
Of all the bickering over 25 years, not ONCE has there been an issue with their own towels.

They have enough cop on and courtesy towards each not to use someone else's towel.

I would be more pissed off by his persistent blatant disregard for a reasonable request than the act itself.

Not someone I would want around my child.
This is his mask slipping, you just haven't realised it yet.

Be warned.

WhiskyandWater · 13/05/2025 21:57

I’m with you OP, I wouldn’t want to get a damp towel that someone else has used either. Also, DP’s smells of his shower gel, a lovely smell on him but not something I want to dry myself on.

I was thinking the exact same, just wondering if its worth it's own thread! 😂

EveryOtherNameTaken · 13/05/2025 21:50

He's just had a shower and wiped the water off him not had a shit and wiped his arse.

Don't see the issue.

The issue is his towel is next to mine. It doesn’t take a lot to pick his own! Also I have to be up earlier than him to go to work in the morning and my towel won’t now be dry by the morning. It’s not about cleanliness, it’s about his thought process!

steelingmyself · 13/05/2025 21:56

YANBU - you’ve told him it annoys you and he’s ignoring you, that’s really frustrating!

My other half likes his own towel, while I happily share with everybody else in the family. Weirdly he hardly EVER remembers to stick his in the washing basket so it’s filthy compared to the rest of them which get chucked in the machine all the time!

If you like your own it’s fair enough - he’s being rude not to respect that. Hope you get some chocolate from somewhere 🤣

Genuinely, I don't get it. He's clean. What exactly is the problem?

Hedjwitch · 13/05/2025 21:54

Oh NO! You will probably both die a lingering death because of some hideous communicable disease....
Or...nothing will happen and the drama will all be for nothing.

AdoraBell · 13/05/2025 21:53

That would annoy me too. Either keep your towel somewhere else or just get another towel out for yourself when you shower.

ExhaustedPigeon37 · 13/05/2025 21:53

EffortlesslyInelegant · 13/05/2025 21:51

If you washed your towels every ten minutes like a proper Mumsnetter you wouldn't have this problem.

Once a week is enough for me! 😂
