Husband uses my towel!!

Exactly that!

Am I being unreasonable to think DH should use his own towel when showering/bathing?

We hang our towels on the back on the back of our bedroom door, my towel is usually pink or purple as I bought them for me and my daughter when we lived together, just us two, a girls house. DH’s towel is usually blue or green, from his house when he lived by himself!

I’m suffering tonight with cramps and back pain and it may be because it’s TOTM but DH had a shower and then came downstairs with my pink towel around his waist and it really annoyed me!! I’ve told him so many times to use his own towel. Tonight he just said in his nonchalant male tone “sorry I just grabbed the first one I saw!!”. He just doesn’t seem to get it. I only changed the towels this weekend and now he has used both of ours, so I’m going to have to get another clean towel tomorrow morning!

YABU - get yourself some chocolate and get over it he is your husband!

YANBU - he should be more understanding, send him out to get you chocolate!

DSDs are always getting threadworms - even at 12 & 14!! 🤢😷 We have had those horrible dry orange tablets more than I care to think about! Which is another reason why I don’t want to share my towel, even with my husband who I share a bed with and have sex with - I blame his genes as DD only ever had them once when she was 4/5years old! 😂😂

You're more than entitled to want your towel to yourself, we are allowed some things to our bloody selves. It's a matter of hygiene as well as respecting your boundaries too!

Ok I have not read all comments but we wash our towels after every use. Prob not good for the environment and I will get slated for this. But even when one has washed themselves, there are still skin cells, pubic hair etc that would be left on the towel.Just my husband and I share our bathroom. Daughter has her own bathroom and her own towels but we just take a clean one form the towel press and once used we throw it in the wash basket. Anything else is just gross in my opinion.

Oh no! Skin cells are literal poison! And pubic hair is equally has harmful to human beings!!!! I can't wait until there is a vaccine for these deadly pathogens!!!!!!!

Keep your towels somewhere else, where they're not so instantly grabbable.

Why should she?

op, my husband does the same. Really annoying

That would be fun if someone caught threadworms...you'd never get rid of them! Do you share underwear too?

some people don't mind this. Some do.

OP does, has asked her DH not to do it and he keeps doing it. Fucker.

I don't want my DH using my towel because he showers about 2 hours before me, then i grab my towel and it's not a nice dry towel it's still wet. That's not what i want.

Flick him with it, OP, on the bare legs and tell him to stop being a twat.

Hahaha! I’m hoping there won’t be a next time but next time I will!

It would annoy me. He also sounds like a bit of an idiot. How many times does somebody have to be told somebody?

Don't be ludicrous. You let him ejaculate inside you, I imagine you put your mouth on his genitals.. he's just come out of a shower and is clean. What on earth is the issue?

Give over, if they don’t want their H to use their towel, there ain’t no way they’re gonna do anything like that with him!

Yes.

@mugglewump

No.

I grew up in a family of seven. The idea of 'own towels' is alien to me. Also, utterly impractical.

I don't understand what the benefit is. To me, it borders on OCD. It's just pointless and, more than that, rather controlling.

Delphiniumandlupins · 14/05/2025 15:07

OK. Those who share towels/use the first dry one they come to - how wide is your communal towel pool? You and DH? Your household, including teenagers? What about overnight guests? If you were sharing a room on holiday with a friend? If you were sharing a house on holiday with extended family (including in-laws)?

Me and teen DS share. Teen DD is more fastidious. Random visitors get a clean towel obvs just like clean bedding.

Yolomy · 14/05/2025 15:19

Before I moved in with DP he had a set of 4 white identical towels and I never knew whose was whose, I hated it. If I ever did shower at his I would feel so stressed if it was my towel or his or the DC 😂 because it was just all bundled up hanging together. I started wiping my eyes/mascara all over mine so it was obvious then he would complain about make up on the white towels.

when we moved in together I allocated us each a specific hook on the rail and asked him not to use mine. We also have different colours. I now notice I wash my towel every 3ish days and he leaves his up for a week or more! I don’t want to share a towel, maybe at a push my kids but they don’t want to share with me they have their own

Delphiniumandlupins · 14/05/2025 15:13

BlueTitShark · 14/05/2025 13:08

It wouldn’t matter because I’d use the other one, which won’t be damp??

I mean unless you have a huge difference between the two towels (like size, one is all fluffy and soft, the other ancient and hard etc…), I’m struggling to see why it matters?

They are different because I like fluffy and he doesn't. So we have different colours to help differentiate and keep them in different places because I'm not sure he wouldn't just use the first one he saw.

You’re being horrible. My DH would be really upset if I moaned about this.

Horrible to want to use her own towel 😂

We have communal towels. I don’t care who in the family is using it as long as it’s hung up afterwards.

Did you need to be so lewd to get such a silly message across? The message being that she's not allowed one single thing to herself, not even a freaking bath towel!

🤣 at lewd! This is Mumsnet..we can swear and everything. Of course the OP can prefer her own stuff but the tone of the post was that it was disgusting on some hygienic level which I just don't follow if it's the person you are married to.

I’m with you weird ones. Been married nearly 40 years brought up 2 kids and have survived sharing towels. No nasty diseases or ill health, so must just be the lucky few.

what do you mean by "sharing towels" tho?

I put out clean towels every week on Bathroom Scrubbing Day. One hand towel (that gets swapped out every other day or so), one towel for me and one for DH. That week we each use the towel that is put in our designated (by me, because i'm the one who does the laundry and gets them out) space. All week he uses his, i use mine. But we don't have actual designated towels.

If he used my towel and i was confronted by my towel being all wet because he'd used it? There Would Be Very Much Trouble.

Or do you just pick one up willy-nilly each time you have a shower?

Not particularly weird but perhaps unusual. I’d be annoyed if someone else used my towel.

BlueTitShark · 14/05/2025 13:11

familylawyer01392 · 14/05/2025 10:44

Would you just randomly use the first towel you saw?

Well yes?!?
I mean where the issue? As long as it’s dry, I’m struggling to see why it would be a problem.
