Have I just been thrown out of GP Practice?

Long story short. Transferred ( no choice) to new GP Practice when my previous Practice closed. I had been very happy there.
The new Practice was very disappointing in several ways which led me to make several written complaints about GPs, Nurses, etc. The Practice did respond in writing to these complaints.

However, my latest complaint led to me now being advised that the Practice can arrange for me to move to a different Practice. This move would not otherwise be possible due to local GP pressures.

Is this the same as being kicked out? Should I agree to move elsewhere ? Worried it might be worse!
Do you think I am being unreasonable...complaining / expecting too much?
😕

Yes it sounds like they think that the relationship has broken down and want you to go somewhere else.

thedeadneverdie · 13/05/2025 17:16

Go somewhere else. That is ypir right.

What is your job and work history?

PoopingAllTheWay · 13/05/2025 17:15

What are the kind of things you are complaining about?
Then we can help you (without any personal details obvs)

Surely not all the doctors and nurses are bad
One or two members of staff ok but the way you have put it, it seems to be most of the staff

Theworldisinyourhands · 13/05/2025 17:15

I am a GP. It's incredibly stressful receiving a formal complaint. We have to formulate a formal response to the complaint. We often have to involve our defence union in this response. We have to document them in our yearly appraisals and then formally reflect on them. It can be hours worth of work and even more hours worth of stress.

If you have a good reason to complain then absolutely fair enough. However if your complaints are petty, vexatious and multiple then yes we would regard this as unacceptable behaviour and a breakdown of relationship and it might lead to your removal from the practice. The complaint response you've posted doesn't sound like you've removed it sounds more like a polite way of saying 'if you think we're that bad then maybe you should move' I would think carefully though OP about why you're complaining and what you're hoping to acheive as it definitely sounds like you're upsetting them. They won't tolerate it forever.

Wow, thanks for so many quick responses. First time posting here.

It seems I am being unreasonable. Just cannot stop complaining..it's like a compulsion.
I will move on now..and try not to complain.

Well if it's a compulsion, it's a new affliction, if you will, as it seems you were very happy with the last practice.

So, thinking of the low likelihood of sudden-onset "complainitis", maybe there is something to your grievances? Hard to tell as you have given no details.

My guess is, to have made so many complaints so soon after moving, that you're expecting too much. Maybe you'd like them to operate the same way as your previous practice, but they have other (just as valid[ ways of doing things?

Either way, you'd probably be happiest if you move, as PPs have said.

I don’t think people think there’s real humans behind the staff at places these days. Complaints are increasing all over the place. I’m a dental hygienist and I had a complaint last month. One said I left plaque “all over” her teeth. (I’ve been doing this 20 years. I can guarantee there was not plaque left all over her teeth) So I replied to her email asking if she wanted to come in again (for free obviously) for me to check it or would she rather have the money back and go elsewhere if she really wasn’t happy. I’ve never heard back from her. So obviously it wasn’t that bad. So why complain?

LadyWiddiothethird · 13/05/2025 17:05

They are not kicking you out,but they would like you to leave.I have never, ever complained about a GP practice, several complaints is unusual.

You are clearly not happy there,so move.

PruthePrune · 13/05/2025 17:04

You are one of those nightmare patients and they will be glad to see the back of you.

PestoPasto · 13/05/2025 17:04

Surely depends what you are complaining about? Appointments running 5 minutes over… unreasonable to complain.

You putting in a prescription request and it getting ignored meaning heart medication is dispensed over a week late (my own personal experience and my GP does this a lot)… reasonable to complain.

ParmaVioletTea · 13/05/2025 17:03

If you've complained several times, and you're obviously dissatisfied with the way they work, so maybe they're just trynig to keep you happy . They're offering you an alternative as a special consideration, because they want you to be happy with your GP practice, and obviously you & this practice are not a 'fit.'.

Maybe your attitude is problematic, as you've taken this offer as an offence.

orangedream · 13/05/2025 16:59

You are being asked to leave.

WomenInSTEM · 13/05/2025 16:57

This reminds me of a parent of a child in my class many years ago. She was always moaning about ridiculous things. Apparently all the children and all the staff had it in for her son.

One day our fantastic headteacher, after listening to another litany of complaints, said;

'It sounds like you've been unhappy with us for a while now, how many other schools have you looked at?'

Apparently she back tracked very quickly. I wish I'd seen it. 😆

Are they justified complaints or are you just causing trouble

TidyDancer · 13/05/2025 16:55

What kind of things are you complaining about?

Sometimes even multiple compulsive complaints can have a legitimate basis. It does sound as though you need to move on regardless and it is bordering on vexatious.

I’ve known (professionally) of patients who have got themselves banned from all local practices because of certain behaviour so it does sound like you might need some reflection and help with this.

hopeishere · 13/05/2025 16:55

What have you complained about?

Compulsion?

Just with the practice or with everything/

StarlightLady · 13/05/2025 16:53

For whatever reason things are not working for you. Under the circumstances l would jump at a chance to start afresh elsewhere.

LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 13/05/2025 16:52

I can understand once but multiple times?

What are you actually complaining about? Can you give examples?

Also if I was bothered enough to complain in writing twice id have just moved GPs...

AreolaGrande · 13/05/2025 16:51

You sound vexatious and impossible to please.

I'd be moving you on as well citing breakdown of the surgery/patient relationship as the reason.

Greybeardy · 13/05/2025 16:50

very much sounds like the professional relationship between you and the Practice is broken down. I'd accept their invitation - it will be better for both parties.

Maybe ask the GP for some help with your complaining compulsion?

NamelessNancy · 13/05/2025 16:49

Services like GPs really require mutual trust to work so I'm not surprised they are suggesting you move on. It sounds like the patient-practice relationship has been damaged.

A compulsion? So you're complaining for no reason? You sound like a nightmare.

Do you think the complaints with hindsight were justified or not?

You have a compulsion to complain? Hmm
So you actively look for things to whine about? Look forward to being sacked from the next practice as well, unless you sort your shit out.
Grow up.
