I don't agree to giving away so much money when the UK borrows money to do the gifting. It's madness. I hope Reform will stop this nonsense.

I hope they never get the chance.

And stop foreign aid -

Which countries receive overseas aid?
In 2023, Ukraine was the top recipient of UK overseas aid. It received £250m - a decrease of £92m (26.9 per cent) - compared to 2022.

Ethiopia came second at £164m in 2023, a huge 82.4 per cent increase (£74m) compared to the year before. Afghanistan was third place, receiving £115m.
Syria, Yemen, Nigeria, Somalia, Pakistan, Brazil, and Bangladesh were all in the top ten recipients, receiving a combined total of £597m.

You stop wasting so much money, that's how. Stop paying for gardening lessons and cake decorating for migrants and as for some London councils paying for immigrants DC being taught languages such as Somali the mind boggles. I've read about adverts for staff to teach these illegal immigrants balloon animal making g lessons. Stuff like this is happening up and down the country. Wtf can't their parents teach them if they want their DC to speak Somali? Why should council tax payers pay for it? No one needs to learn to make balloon animals or to decorate cakes. Stop paying for leaflets to be translated into so many languages. Stop giving legal aid to illegal immigrants. Stop housing them in 4* hotels. Put them in tents like they do across Europe. The pull factors are so strong to come to UK. This government wastes so much money. Then puts taxes high to pay for their reckless spending.

This and stop encouraging people to come. As Andrew Neil said, you have to de -insensitive people to want to come to the UK. Poor France is probably sick to death of the UK because people are crossing all over Europe to get here.
If you come here illegally, the chances are you’ll stay. If your asylum is rejected, they’ll appeal. And probably win.

I don’t blame migrants wanting to come here because the country roles the red carpet out for them. The government meanwhile tries to tax everyone every way they can to pay for it.
My dad is in his 60s and retired at 58. He got a letter asking him if he’d like to return to work.

He laughed and threw the letter in the bin. They want him to go to work so he can support people who’ve came here illegally was his response. Thats a big no !

@Jerrypicker- he often loses his temper, he’s very thin skinned. And he definitely dodges questions & does not have an answer for everything.

Sounds like Starmer not Farage !

I’m politically neutral. I think Farage was saying that Europe has an immigration problem- which is fact. It’s not exactly false is it?

That was pre 2016 and the immigrants he objected to were to the UK from the EU. Last time I looked the majority of them were white. Like I said, his is the only white face there. If you genuinely can’t see the racism in that there’s no hope for you. Obviously you can see it but have painted yourself into a corner.

Snake oil charlatan? Really? To what purpose?
He doesn’t strike me as such.
Do you call everybody whose policy you don’t agree with a ‘snake oil charlatan’?

@caringcarer You want lower taxes but more money spent on defence, education and benefits. How does that work?

Who else’s side would he be on, if not the British people’s? 🤔
He is definitely not on the side of illegal migrants or the woke leftists. So the only side left is that of the British people.
You might say he just wants to get into power. But to what purpose? To become rich? He already is.
His opponents like you just want to discredit him by any means.

Edited

He wants to be even richer. He wants to end govt funding for the NHS but refuses to say how Reform will fund it. He's for small government, and anyone on benefits who votes for Reform is like the proverbial turkey at yuletide.

Because he's a relatively skilled speaker. Like many others in the 1980s, he was literally taught the art of persuasive speaking - or rhetoric as it's properly known. So was Johnson as it happens. Trump's a monkey in comparison to these guys.

And because Farage learned from Enoch Powell, a successful Cambridge academic with a background in classics. The thing that Powell understood very well was that if you wanted the people to vote for you, then you must appear like you're on their side. There are various ways of doing this, for example, in Powell's case, for his River of Blood speech, he simply made up the housewives and concerned folk who he was quoting. Neither they, or the problems they were talking about, actually existed. But it didn't matter because it SEEMED real to people.

Farage is cut from the same cloth. His background also involves fiction - commodity trading and futures. He knows how to work a market, how to operate the levers and pulleys. And in the same way that people believe money is somehow real (when actually it's just numbers or bits of plasticised paper in their wallet), they believe what he's saying has some sort of basis in fact. It doesn't. He's a kind of one man casino. But you know what they say, the house always wins.

There's an old Latin tag: cui prodest? It means 'Who stands to gain?' Farage will know this in its original Latin. Powell studied it and understood it intimately. The average bod in the street has no idea that they're just the pawns in this game, the future casualties, the cannon fodder. They're clueless. They have neither the education or the skills to work out what's happening. And so like turkeys they'll vote for Christmas and then wonder why their teenage children / grandchildren are being called up to die in ditches.

Those who do not understand the lessons of history are doomed to repeat it, eh.

Actually he is a very intelligent man with excellent communication skills and very competent in debates. He has a distinct personality and charisma. He never loses his temper no matter how much some idiot wants to wind him up and I can tell he has a sense of humour. He doesn’t dodge questions and always has a measured answer.

If you read MN you get the impression that he is not popular, but MN does not represent the real world. MN is mainly a bunch of bored leftist housewives. Go on YouTube though, watch his speeches and it is a different story. Read the comment section below his videos and draw your own conclusion.
Here’s an example for you:

Well said 😁

OK. Obviously you’ll deny something that’s right in your face but at least I tried. You don’t think this is racist? You’ll note that, despite allegedly being about the EU, the only white face on that poster is Farage’s.

Tearosepadstow · 30/08/2025 15:50

I can't stand this snake oil salesman. His beloved Brexit is the total disaster all us "remoaners" said it would be but that's not his fault apparently! All Brexit has done is make the Country poorer and weaker as we all predicted.

Seen that before .All I saw was some carefully selected comments . Shouted Hitler as a kid ? What 50 years ago when he was a at school allegedly ? Where is the evidence? Farage has denied it anyway.Still can’t see anything other than an Evening standard article looking for something.

renovatedlady · 30/08/2025 15:36

OneSharpFinch · 30/08/2025 01:59

Because he's not Labour, who have doubled the national deficit in a year, tried to screw over disabled people, pensioners, children and come October taxes will go up, inflation is up and job losses are hugely up so yes he isn't Labour, i can't believe that people still think that Labour are doing a good job.

But reform will need huge spending cuts - in the billions - to cover promised tax cuts. Tax cuts that benefit the rich far more than the poor. That means huge cuts to public spending. So the winter fuel allowance may come back and the 2 child cap abolished but other benefits will be slashed instead. The poor voting for Reform is like turkeys voting for Christmas. I won't vote for them but as a higher rate tax payer it will be great for me...

ProudCat · 30/08/2025 15:16

I absolutely agree with you about people feeling as if those that they vote for aren't representing them properly. My point is that Farage and Reform aren't going to represent them properly either.

I mean, do you really want Zia Yusuf (the multi-millionaire businessman who had to quit his role as Reform's Chairman following a BBC investigation that highlighted serious financial irregularities) in charge of the economy? He's made a profit out of every company he's been part of but the workers haven't. They've suffered. For him, Parliament would just be an opportunity to asset strip Britain. Unfortunately, people think Reform will somehow make things better for them. It won't. That's my problem. Folks are being sold a lie by very accomplished salesmen.

But back to your point. I agree. In a democracy, the government should represent the people, all the people, not just the left or the right or those who voted for them. That's not how a democracy is meant to work. It's been a mistake to label anyone who expresses concerns over immigration, grooming gangs, rabid misogyny, etc., as a fascist. It closes down the space for proper debate and for things to change in a way whereby people feel like their lives are improving. However, I don't think the answer is to get even more undemocratic by electing people who openly sympathise with the ideas of dictatorship.

To be fair, I don't know the answer either. I do think that the problem we really need to fix is how wealth is held by so few, and I don't mean the person living in a £600,000 house who wants to leave it to their kids, I mean the multi-millionaires and billionaires. Reform won't touch this because they're Farage and Yusuf's mates. As for the immigration issue, I can see it's only going to get worse. It's not like Reform can turn down the rising temperatures in the global south, and Europe won't listen to them since Brexit. It would literally take a military mobilisation and I fear they'll try and fix youth unemployment by bringing in conscription to achieve this.

In other words, what I'm hearing from Reform is a lot about what they'd do, but hardly anything about how they'd do it (that's credible in any way). I don't think I'm the person going to get the shock at the next GE, I rather suspect it's all the poor sods who'll end up voting for them realising what this means 3-4 years down the line.

You may be correct but what’s the alternative to people who are concerned about mass migration of men coming to our shores who we have no idea where they are from ?

The main political parties have ignored peoples genuine concerns for too long. Or they are too scared ( understandably) to do something radical.

Thats where people like Farage come in. If you keep voting the same parties in again and again, don’t be surprised if nothing will get done.

You can hate Farage all you like , it matters not a bit to me as I personally have no strong opinions of him. But if the UK carries on the way it’s going , don’t be surprised if a shock happens at the next GE.

People want a real change and immigration is a major concern that’s not going to go away.

Southern25 · 30/08/2025 14:40

I could do it but if people aren't intelligent to work it out for themselves then we don't want them in our party.😃

What party ? I don’t want to be in any party?
