Why do people vote for Reform and in particular Nigel Farage?

Oops, yes, sorry - less than £8 per day for those not receiving bed and board and less than a tenner a week for those in supported accommodation. I'm so jealous of the absolute luxury they live in. I think I'll go and start a riot. 😁

Not bad for criminals who shouldn't be here and haven't paid a penny into the system.

Pensioners get £230 pw for everything.
That's housing, furnishings, poll tax, food, clothes, toileteries, heating, TV and utilities.

Hardly luxury is it. And I don't think the bed and board is silk sheets and a Michelin chef, more like 4 to a room sharing a small ensuite. You need to widen your pool of information. Less than a tenner a day for toiletries, pay for a mobile, buy a packet of fags, a bus ticket. Blooooody looxury, eh?

Not bad for criminals that have broken into this country?

And if they are so hard up why are they smoking?

Toileteries are free.

It’s a tenner a week, not per day.

Why anyone would want to align themselves with the sort of far left ill informed great unwashed bigots from Antifa is beyond me.🤔

No aligning with antifa here - they're bullying thugs just like knuckle dragging nylon flag raising ilk. The two ends of a horseshoe. I take it you're not a racist thug of the far right?

Even suspending all critical thinking for a moment and assuming Farage has a full portfolio of developed policies beyond ‘send them back’ why anyone would want to align themselves with the sort of far right ill informed racist bigot his party attracts is beyond me.

Full bed & board paid for by the UK taxpayer, laundry done, and £9.95 spend when our pensioners and veterans are scrabbling to make ends meet.

This house contains two pensioners, one of whom is also a veteran. We’re very comfortable, thank you. No scrabbling around here - largely due to the veteran’s generous pension.

Farage has always been a racist. I read an article this weekend that alleged he’s trying to turn the small boats issue into another Brexit. Divide the country and turn us against each other while he emerges the other side richer and unscathed.

Remember Brexit. He did that . How often does he point to the ‘successes’ of Brexit these days…?

Why are the brilliant outcomes from Brexit not his No1 claim in all his campaigning…?

Isn’t it so odd that the thing that consumed him for decades - which he achieved - barely gets a mention these days?

It amazes me people are still stupid enough to fall for his shit.

He has participated in about 33% of parliamentary votes whereas the average MP participates in 72%. He doesn’t give a fuck about representing his constituents. But people vote for him. Like a true con man - even Farage must believe those voters are stupid.

They are not living in 'idle luxury'.

So you're happy paying £5 million a day to keep these migrants in idle luxury?

Well, some of us aren't 😡

Perhaps he was generalising because he knew about two in five of those arrested having previously been reported domestic abusers…

Perhaps he was just being an ill-informed numpty as usual ?

When he called all the Southport protesters "far right thugs" ( BTW he called them all "criminals" before they'd even been arrested and taken to court.)

Very few people do. The turn out was low. Of that number (19% here) only 20% voted for Reform.

That number would be much higher if a general election was held tomorrow.

luckylavender · 31/08/2025 07:39

@themoonandtenbob- I get it. You hate Starmer. I hate Farage.

VeryStressedMum · 31/08/2025 07:35

Apart from their (anti) immigration stance I have no idea what they will or won’t do if they get voted in.
I don’t think they believe they will get in, maybe they’re aiming for at best a Tory coalition

Did you see his face? He was as mad as a wet hen !

@themoonandtenbob- there are many things we could criticise Starmer for but I can’t think of an occasion where he has lost his temper or been thin skinned.

Actually he is a very intelligent man with excellent communication skills and very competent in debates. He has a distinct personality and charisma. He never loses his temper no matter how much some idiot wants to wind him up and I can tell he has a sense of humour. He doesn’t dodge questions and always has a measured answer.

If you read MN you get the impression that he is not popular, but MN does not represent the real world. MN is mainly a bunch of bored leftist housewives. Go on YouTube though, watch his speeches and it is a different story. Read the comment section below his videos and draw your own conclusion.
Here’s an example for you:

I was going to say something along these lines (apart from the bored housewives bit!)
That much of MN is seriously behind the curve on this topic, there are still many posters on here who call anyone voting for reform a thick racist and it’s a seriously outdated opinion. It’s not representative at all.
Some Reform policies are actually pretty sensible in my opinion. Scrapping HS2, scrapping DEI and banning teaching gender ideology in schools, for example. But I doubt anyone who calls Reform voters ‘thick racists’ would bother to read their policies because they don’t have much in the way of critical thinking skills.

TooBigForMyBoots · 30/08/2025 23:54

Im not worried about Farage's Reform party succeeding at thr next election.

If it happens, it happens.🤷‍♀️

But it probably won't happen. For a start, Reform are a mess. Every day brings another story about their failure. To balance the books. To select their candidates properly. To improve the UK.

Nigel Farage himself wasn't willing to back them himself until a few weeks before the GE.

Also the next GE will happen after the Presidential election in the US. By which point RW politics will be poison to Liberal democracies and everyone else.

ProudCat · 30/08/2025 23:33

Jerrypicker · 30/08/2025 18:06

Who else’s side would he be on, if not the British people’s? 🤔
He is definitely not on the side of illegal migrants or the woke leftists. So the only side left is that of the British people.
You might say he just wants to get into power. But to what purpose? To become rich? He already is.
His opponents like you just want to discredit him by any means.

Edited

He's a politician. He's on his own side. And the options aren't either Farage supporters or 'illegal migrants or woke leftists'. It's not like there's only 2 perspectives in the whole country. Christonabike.

But you're right, he is rich, FROM THE MONEY HE'S MADE AS A POLITICIAN. How do you think he's made his money? His city company 'Farage Limited' went bankrupt. So the purpose of his political activity is to keep coining it in.

I'm not discrediting him by any means. He's discredited by the facts. As I've said elsewhere, if you want to believe in some fantastic myth and pretend it's not not insanity, go right ahead, see where it gets you.
