To think forced starvation is just plain evil!

On the BBC today. The UN has condemned using man made starvation as a war tactic. Surely we can come to a general consensus that whatever you think about the conflict, Israel's actions here are just plain evil?

In 1847 the British government exported food from Ireland while the people starved and called it a famine

In 2025 there are 3000 trucks lined up at a border and prevented from entering by Israel while starving people are metres away., calling it a famine now as well.

Seems humanity has not evolved at all in nearly 200 years.

And why do you think aid isn’t allowed in?
Nobody seems to be answering this question

Would you feel the same if a right-wing group had a founding charter that called for the murder of all black people, but then replaced it with a new charter that didn’t say that - but never apologised for, or actively repudiated, the old one?

HonI stay I don’t know whether to pity or feel embarrassed for the people who swallow the blatant lies from terrorists. Like how thick can you be? Hamas given the chance would shit MN down in a minute and have gay people killed and women oppressed. They aren’t people’s friends and they aren’t the innocent hapless victims by nasty old Israel.

Embarrassed, actually. I feel embarrassed and almost quite alarmed at the general stupidity

Throwawayyyy · 11/05/2025 16:37

JandamiHash · 11/05/2025 16:28

Unless it’s Jews apparently, then they brought it on themselves and it “didn’t erupt from nowhere”

I have repeatedly condemned both sides behaviour. Hamas’ acts have been horrific, as have Israel’s. Rape, torture and murder on both sides.

You can support a cause whilst also condemning their crimes.

There is a derogatory word that I absolutely hate and refuse to use. But I have found myself using it more and more, and it is exactly what Israeli settlers, the IDF and the Israeli government are, they are C**T’s!! I hope karma hits them big time.

I hope karma hits them big time.

What kind of karma do you hope for exactly?

JandamiHash · 11/05/2025 16:28

You really need to have a think about where you get information.

Those poor kind Hamas terrorists just want to help the Jews they’ve kidnapped and tortured right

Your post has nothing to do with mine.

Hamas agreed to swap hostages for Palestinian detainees

The Israeli Government broke that agreement.

They aren’t interested in their own people held by Hamas, they never have been. We all saw that with Netanyahus plans for Gaza at the UN general council in September 2023

JandamiHash · 11/05/2025 16:32

Elizacat · 11/05/2025 14:28

That information comes from the Israeli government, who cannot be trusted, having been found to lie repeatedly.

You say Hamas are cruel for stealing from aid trucks, can I ask then what words you would use to describe the IDF massacring civilians trying to collect food from an aid truck (well documented even by our rancid media) or bombing an aid truck and murdering the international aid workers in the process?

Aid workers have seen the thefts happen.

So you think a Jew hating terrorist group is to be trusted?

JandamiHash · 11/05/2025 16:32

Thegreyhound · 11/05/2025 14:28

also returning the hostages would not end this- the stated aim is to remove Palestinians from the Gaza Strip

Do you support Hamas?

🥱 What do you think will happen to Jewish people if Palestine and Hamas is allowed to take the land “From the river to the sea”? Ethnic cleansing is fine if it’s Israelis right?

Throwawayyyy · 11/05/2025 14:12

Surely supporting torture in any form is hateful though?

Unless it’s Jews apparently, then they brought it on themselves and it “didn’t erupt from nowhere”

DrPrunesqualer · 11/05/2025 14:11

Hamas has offered the hostages.
Israel doesn’t want them, Israel broke the ceasefire

Keep up

Yes we do. Antisemitism being one

One example of so many
including starving civilians in this case ie the thread subject.

DrPrunesqualer · 11/05/2025 14:05

I suppose we have to accept in a free world that some people have very low standards in terms of what is hateful and what isn’t.

Yes we do. Antisemitism being one

Your posts are dripping with hatred.

You should always report hateful posts.
But don’t be surprised if MN’s definition of hate differs to yours.

Replaced implies repudiated usually- as in, you get rid of something and then replace it with something else

Would you feel the same if a right-wing group had a founding charter that called for the murder of all black people, but then replaced it with a new charter that didn’t say that - but never apologised for, or actively repudiated, the old one?

Dontlletmedownbruce · 11/05/2025 16:08

The way I see it there are 3 ways of looking at the killing of civilians in retaliation, where those civilians are connected by race, blood, ethnicity, territory etc to the perpetrators of an atrocity.

  1. those who believe it is always wrong to kill someone in retaliation for anothers wrong doing, whether that's a terrorist group, national army or whatever. An innocent life is an innocent life regardless.

  2. Those who believe it is OK to kill innocent people in specific circumstances as retaliation fall into 2 categories

A) those who believe in eye for eye, or to avenge their own type. They believe anyone of the race/ethnicity is fair game and believe in revenge as a concept. This means they will also condone mass killings in the future against those that are doing it now and so on.

B) people who don't believe in this as a concept but believe it's ok in this specific circumstance because they believe one race to be of more value and superior than the another.

SpaceOfAides · 11/05/2025 16:06

DrPrunesqualer · 11/05/2025 16:02

Israel doesn’t see them as important enough to take back.

Israel broke the ceasefire…..nothing new then.

Ceasefire is suicide for Israel, and in the long run tragic for the Palestinians too. The government is quite right not to agree to one.

SpaceOfAides · 11/05/2025 16:05

Dumbledore167 · 11/05/2025 15:53

Do you really believe that? That if the hostages are returned and Hamas surrender, all conflict and persecution stops and Isreal will work peacefully towards a two state solution with equal rights for all?
I think most people believe that Israel’s most recent stated aim of eradicating Gaza of Palestinians, was always the aim.

Two state solution? Is there even anyone in Gaza who wants that? In any polls done to date, formal and informal, there has been extremely low support for a two state solution amongst the Palestinians. The vast majority want a 'free Palestine' from the river to the sea.

Surrender would mean accepting and acknowledging defeat. It would mean realising their stated aims are not going to happen, and relinquishing them. I think with time and good faith shown on their side, they could probably have some kind of semi-autonomy, perhaps similar to devolvement in the UK.

But what is certain is that the actual war stops as soon as they surrender fully and unconditionally. I don't think any sane person could deny that.

JandamiHash · 11/05/2025 16:05

Interesting how nobody can answer (except one person who said it would be a blood bath) what would happen if Israel couldn’t defend itself (and yes people have suggested that).

I think the bars of thinking on this thread believe because I haven’t rushed on with dramatic statements that I am justifying starvation. I’m not. But the blame cannot be on Israel for reasons already stated.

Meanwhile we have several posters justifying or downplaying October 7th, an attack where babies and toddlers were murdered and women were raped. What is your justification? Please tell us.

As for people saying those with opinions different to them should be deleted - go find an echo chamber elsewhere then. This is MN and a variety of opinions are allowed. Imagine being so arrogant you think you the The Only Right Opinion and everyone else should fall in line or STFU

DrPrunesqualer · 11/05/2025 15:58

Elizacat · 11/05/2025 14:50

Ah yes in Gaza the adults are all sat feasting whilst watching their children starve. Because of course they don’t care about their children like people in the West (white people?) do. I mean are they even human?!

Absolutely despicable post.

Agree.
This post is one of the many low points of this thread

DrPrunesqualer · 11/05/2025 15:54

Thegreyhound · 11/05/2025 14:28

Agree
even if that means starving them out Netanyahu and his evil war mongerers will carry on regardless.

Dumbledore167 · 11/05/2025 15:53

SpaceOfAides · 11/05/2025 15:36

I doubt your question was posed in good faith, but I'll answer it anyway. The key difference is that if the adults of Gaza return the hostages and surrender unconditionally the war stops immediately. That wasn't an option for the Jews under Nazi Germany.

As I wrote before, the only way to stop the bloodshed in the long term is for one side to have a clear victory and the other side to acknowledge defeat. When the price of continued 'resistance', aka terrorism, becomes too high for the adults in Gaza and they will hopefully surrender, and from there in the rebuilding and healing can start.

We can only hope it happens sooner rather than later, but hey, they should be the ones to care the most about their own children.

DrPrunesqualer · 11/05/2025 15:52

Jerabilis · 11/05/2025 14:14

Yes, it's been incredibly cruel how Hamas have stolen money and aid that was meant to go to the Palestinian people forcing them into starvation. Hopefully Hamas will be defeated soon

The only thing forcing the Palestinian people into starvation is the Israeli Government.
You block aid and bomb humanitarian ships you commit a war crime. You starve innocents. You are the lowest of the low.

Comedycook · 11/05/2025 15:51

Thegreyhound · 11/05/2025 15:35

Clearly neither! One is a terrorist group and the other is a fanatical right wing government practising apartheid and genocide
