If you allow your kids to kick a ball at a joining fence repeatedly, you're a trash person.

It's 24 degrees

We all want to enjoy our outdoor spaces.

If you allow your darlings to repeatedly thump a ball at a fence because "kidz shud b allowd to play innit"

You're a trash human
.

Where has consideration gone in this country.

Surely you just water the plants along your fence line?
Ime.

Orangesinthebag · 11/05/2025 19:43

Neighbours a few doors up from me have a type of pool they use as soon as the weather gets warm.
Then every sunny day we are all subjected to their kids just splashing, shouting & shrieking for literally hours on end.

I find it rude and selfish tbh because it's constant and can be literally all day at the weekend.
I get kids want to play and can be noisy but I think they could limit the hours of use or tell the kids to stop shouting and screaming.

I can only imagine they are monitoring from inside with noise cancelling head phones on!!

Threads like this and I’m glad I’ve got an 9ft tall conifer hedge around my garden! 😁

Drangea · 11/05/2025 19:40

Kids play in gardens and balls go over. In RL it’s fine.
Kicking against a fence is annoying because it’s loud and repetitive and can damage the fence. Kicking against cars etc is also not OK but kids playing in their own garden is allowed and normal. If a balls goes over throw it back or throw it in the bin if it bothers you. All part of living in suburbs next to other families.

You sound just like my neighbour. Excuses and bullshit.

If your neighbour is popping balls they are really really fucked off, and it takes a while to get to that stage. When you say you are trying what is it you are trying with? Telling your kids to keep the ball low isn’t trying. Why haven’t you put a net up? You can buy ready made ball stop netting or install your own for next to nothing. Why haven’t you done this?

Nothing should be going from your garden to anyone else’s garden. Absolutely nothing. It’s unacceptable, your neighbours garden is not a backdrop or a playground and your kids aren’t entitled to intrude into that private space.

I wish parents like you would stop going on about screen time as if it’s some sort of justification. Nobody cares how much screen time your kids have.

Everyone has the legal right to quiet enjoyment of their own home. You might find, like my neighbour, that kids regularly launching missiles into other peoples gardens isn’t considered playing by the local ASB team.

Didn't you listen? She can't get to the park.

(But can get to the beach and seemingly wherever else suits her...)

the other neighbours well ball goes over it gets popped

Not those neighbours then. The ones who are clearly fed up to the back teeth with what you allow your children to do.

TesChique · 11/05/2025 18:07

She isn't.

That's the problem.

Not even an ounce of consideration or balance

But didn't you hear why she shouldn't parent her kids?

I'd never get anything done. 2, I don't see why they shouldn't be aloud to play in their own garden.. its what it is there for. 3, you know nothing about me

She wrote that, genuinely as why she is entitled to repeatedly leave her 4 "boisterous" children pelting their football against the neighbours fence, until it goes over, from their too small garden.

She'd never get anything done.

Vitrolinsanity · 11/05/2025 18:42

My utterly lovely neighbour used to field for DS when he did cricket practice in the garden. Ball against a fence though, that’s a hard no. Narrow gardens are what Killer Swingball were designed for. Dsis, my cousins and me would spend hours trying to knock each others block off whilst developing killer backhands.

They also managed to land it in the middle of our garden table yesterday while we were eating dinner, and sent everything flying.

That's appaling! Did you get an apology?

They're always apologetic after the fact, they promise to be more careful, and then carry on as normal.

How annoying, I can relate, I used to live in a flat, I was in the corner leading on the communal area, they used my wall to kick a ball EVERYDAY, it was so annoying, none of the parents would stop them. What a sh*thole, thank goodness I moved and never choose a flat with a communal area, social housing is the worst. Scum!

When I was an adolescent, my mum retaliated by setting up my music stand in the back garden.

I was learning the piano accordion.

dynamiccactus · 11/05/2025 18:05

Oh dear we used to let our son do this. But we did tell him not to do it until 10am at weekends.

And he didn't scream and squeal all the time like the little girls either side of us do. I just can't believe how much they scream All The Time. The only good thing is it's not late in the evening.

Fence banging is annoying, but so is screaming.

And then of course you have the loud parties.

AubernFable · 11/05/2025 18:03

I honestly could not care less! Next door neighbour has 4 boys, one with special needs who makes a lot more noise than a football and I think its lovely to hear them all playing outside in the summer. They kick footballs over, have water fights with the hose that might splash us and generally do loud kid stuff.

Someone else’s neighbour is barbecuing twice a day, that would wind me up but kids having fun is not ‘trash human’ behaviour, being classist is though and thats what I got from your OP.

ArtTheClown · 11/05/2025 17:49

My neighbours have destroyed about £70 worth of plants so far this summer by kicking the ball over the fence. They also managed to land it in the middle of our garden table yesterday while we were eating dinner, and sent everything flying. I spent a considerable amount of time trying to wash orange juice and bolognese out of everybody's clothes instead of sitting in the garden enjoying the evening. I am so, so sick of it!
