Things that don’t bother you that seem a big deal to other people

Lighthearted really but I honestly can’t understand why anyone would feel precious about a friend forgetting their birthday. My very best friend has forgot a couple of times and it’s more funny than anything else. But other people seem up in arms about things like this.

Weddings… I couldn’t give a shit if someone couldn’t make my wedding or posted a photo too soon or whatever else. I’m amazed people care about this stuff.

Obviously there’s plenty I’m highly strung about though! 😅

I know this sounds silly, but my hair

Last year,I found out I was going to be a granny and something just snapped inside me-i grew out my roots and found my Steel gray hair (its silver-and i love it) and suits me much better than my dark brown dye job

I don't have the time or money to sit at the hairdressers and I don't want to sit on my sofa with chemicals on my head (while trying not to cover the sofa in it)

The amount of women (mainly at work-i work in retail) who have got funny about my hair is unreal

'Oh I just couldn't!' (Bully for you)
'It's aged you' (really?)
'Why not try xyz colour?' (Because I don't want to)
'That's your natural colour?' (With a look of distaste)
'Have you tried xyz salon?' (No because I don't have the will, the time nor the money to get my roots done every month)

I will never colour my hair again but it really seems to hit a raw nerve-I'm honestly amazed by how many women have said the above

I’m developing a pale grey streak in my mid 30s and I love it.

Young, in my 20s: everything annoys me

Old, in my 60s: nothing annoys me any more

Teasloth · 11/05/2025 23:22

Weddings (dull)
Breast/bottle feeding-I have zero opinion
What my kid eats-as long as its mostly ok I'm not too fussed
Sitting behind a learner driver-we were all there
Not being married - too indicisive 😂
Not having much to do with my family - meh. They're OK but draining a lot of the time
Cleaning /hoovering (gets done when it gets done)

The big one is probably going on holiday

As an adult I just can't be arsed. Its hassle, it's expensive, it's exhausting, come back more tired than I went.

It's all just a lot of faff 😂😂

To be fair not a lot bothers me. I'm a pretty chill person 😂

Apart from tea making. People who put the milk in before removing the tea bag give me an unhealthy dose of rage

I didn't even know there was a wrong way for toilet roll 😂.
Ours sit on a shelf!

This doesn't bother me as much as people not replacing the toilet roll does.

Dymaxion · 11/05/2025 23:10

I have reached that point in life where very little bothers me anymore, but at the same time some tiny little insignificant thing can bring on a bout of rage so extreme, that its a bloody miracle I am not currently on remand for murder !

Stuff that doesn't bother me;

Anything wedding related, the only thing that I was bothered about at mine was that people had enough food and drink. It's a party, you've invited people, be a good host !
Childbirth, Ive done the whole variety of styles and it honestly matters not a jot how they get here, you are still expected to look after another tiny, vulnerable human being on torture levels of sleep deprivation. Don't judge yourself or anyone else, its pointless.
Driving, OK I will judge you if you drive right up my arse, because its dangerous and illegal, and you are ignorant and arrogant if you think your car can stop faster than any other car on the road or that your reaction time is beyond that of normal human capacity. And put your mobile phone down, if you aren't looking at the road you are putting everyone including yourself in danger !

Other than that, meh !

coldsae · 11/05/2025 22:15

Not having mum friends
Not lving in a detached house with driveway
Not living in "villagey" neighbourhood
Saying hello to strangers on walks
Older women wearing their hair long
Neighbours having parties
Fireworks
DH not contacting me in the working day
Not having "equal child-free time"
Living in a city centre location
Living car-free

Jack80 · 11/05/2025 21:58

I don't care about people going away for a hen do or having a baby shower
I couldn't care less how you birthed your child it's a birth
I don't care if you bottle or breastfeed

Whether people (men) lave the toilet seat up or down.

This didn’t used to bother me, but I currently have a water obsessed toddler, so it’s a current annoyance. 🤣

Takeingmytime · 11/05/2025 21:19

Loads of things.

I care about the lid being down too.

TrixieMixie · 11/05/2025 20:09

Oh I thought of another one. I don’t mind admitting I’m wrong but lots of people seem to! They tie themselves in knots trying to avoid saying they’ve made a mistake. That just seems bonkers to me - where’s the shame in fessing up to an error, we all make them…. I don’t mean in a context where there could be awful retribution but, for instance, in a debate or a discussion where someone introduces a new fact or a line of reasoning that refutes what I previously thought - or they know more about it than I do!

Worriedsickmostofthetime · 11/05/2025 20:03

Also my own wedding. I mean I loved the day and getting to be married to my DH. But I’m just not bothered by all the traditions.
No hens do.
No guest seating chart.
and my best no bother… no bridesmaids. I have been a bridesmaid 4 times and I could never really understand what the point is? Why are there 4 women all dressed the same holding flowers standing next to the bride? I felt like a part of a circus to be honest. I had my 3 best friends with me all day, we all had our makeup done and hair and they wore exactly what they wanted to. We drank champagne and laughed. We had wonderful photos together and had the best day. Nobody had to parade down an aisle ahead of me and stand to attention. It was wonderful.

Annierob · 11/05/2025 20:00

Leaving pegs on the washing line

TrixieMixie · 11/05/2025 19:59

I don’t care about having a big house which most people I know seem obsessed by. We could afford one, but can’t be bothered with all the maintenance and the bills. DH and I are just not massive home bods, we like a nice small cosy house and our little garden to come back to after adventures.

Whatafustercluck · 11/05/2025 19:50

Neighbours barbecuing and generally enjoying their gardens in the summer.

Cynic17 · 11/05/2025 19:45

Christmas
My own birthday
My own "milestone" birthday
Reality TV
Shoes off in the house (floors are literally there to be walked on)
Holidays/theatre/events on my own - going solo is my favourite thing
Constant messages/calls with the other half - yuck; we never do it
Other half being away - happy that we can both be independent and do our own thing
Cleaning the house - it just needs to be "good enough", whereas "spotless" houses are soulless
Sentimentality and fuss about any normal life event (births, marriages, deaths)

Moobear1420 · 11/05/2025 19:28

Husbands/partners going out or away with friends. I love it and encourage it - the house stays tidy and you get peace (and the bed to yourself if its overnight). I love him to bits but I love my own space too

Catsandcannedbeans · 11/05/2025 19:22

Didn’t really care much about my wedding, if we could do it again we would elope. It was fun and a great party, I looked great, but I wasn’t that bothered. I am pretty sure some random guy wandered into our reception.

Also have never cared about being near the front at gigs or even being able to see the stage. I want to listen to the music and dance.

Yourcatisnotsorry · 11/05/2025 19:17

Lateness - unless it’s for a train/plane or something that starts at a certain time it doesn’t bother me if someone turns up late. Shit happens and I’m happy with my own company.
swearing - as above 😂
what other people are wearing - wouldn’t notice and wouldn’t care

Debtdolly · 11/05/2025 19:16
  • Leaving toilet seat up - genuinely not bothered, but DP and DS missing the toilet in the night and peeing on seat is another matter!
  • child free weddings - love an excuse to go out without the DCs, doesn’t happen often these days
  • people addressing me as Mrs/Ms when I’m a Miss - I’ve seen other people get up in arms about this but it’s not a big deal for me, not particularly fussed with being addressed by a title at all to be honest.

mjf981 · 11/05/2025 01:39

Most things.
In general, I think we have become far more uptight and less tolerant as a society. In the end, none of the small stuff really matters. Shrug and move on. The mental gymnastics people get into over the smallest matters sounds absolutely exhausting.

The counterargument is why shouldn't we call out crapness? If we don't it becomes normalised and everyone's quality of life goes down, and once it becomes normalised it becomes an entitlement from which there is no going back. I find it bizarre because it is really mimimal effort to be thoughtful and considerate of other people.

CandidHelper · 11/05/2025 19:07

I detest sniffing, and have been known more than once to launch tissues at the offender. Hate plate scrapers and slurpers of hot drinks(just let it cool for a few minutes), don't understand why people eat chicken wings.
