Sir Tom Cruise 🙄

Tom Cruise is getting a Knighthood for services to the film industry!

I don’t think I’ve seen him in anything for 20/30 years!

Why are we rewarding a man who earns millions just for pretending to be someone else and speaking the words that someone else has written and who is instructed where to stand, sit, walk and move around?

A man who has not seen his daughter since she was 7 years old nearly 12 years ago!

We're not ever really going to know what happened with him and Suri. Katie agreed not to speak about the divorce in exchange for the settlement and full custody. Given she left in the middle of the night with the aid of her (lawyer) dad, I don't think she fancied handing Suri over for a sleepover and a McDonalds every Saturday.

Shitmonger · 08/05/2025 20:12

Of course there aren’t “sources” about Cruise not seeing his daughter. He filed a $50 million lawsuit against the last publication that talked about him not using his visitation. 😂

I had a professor use it as an example of public image management in one of my classes. No one was interested in drawing his legal ire after that.

Keirawr · 08/05/2025 20:11

Tom Cruise is practically a British resident, a lot of his movies are made here. His contribution to the film industry is massive.

And you’ve missed all the movies he’s been in the last two decades, you should get out more.

If you want to start the list of who it SHOULD be, surely you should lead with Monty Don.

Michael Palin for me.

You think Dave justs going to be really happy for his friend 😂😂😂😂

But how could we tell? Mr & Mrs B's faces look so botoxed smooth that they could be feeling the heights of euphoria or the depths of despair but they wouldn't be able to show anything other than a slightly pained grimace. 😬.

JellyLlama · 08/05/2025 20:07

He's a Scientologist, which is culty and he's done a lot of high level schmoozing on their behalf. Katie Holmes supposedly left him to stop Suri being sucked in.

You’re right, of course. How could I have forgotten The Don 😎

vodkaredbullgirl · 08/05/2025 19:59

Have you been living under a rock, he's been in loads of films.

Lovingthehamsterwheel · 08/05/2025 19:52

Well, he lives in bronley in south east london for part of the year, his daughter lives a few monites from his house in croydon. Hes been in quite a few things recently. Hes a great actor and is very talented stuntman. I am not sure about his british citizenship though?

whynotwhatknot · 08/05/2025 19:38

it will be honourary but good for him saved the box office after covid does alot in the uk

Nannyfannybanny · 08/05/2025 19:35

He does indeed spend a lot of time in Britain
.I used to live a couple of mile from one of Europes main Scientology churches. He shopped in Sainsbury's, got fuel for his red Ferrari. People I know who met him, said he was pleasant and polite and engaging.

DutchEmerald · 08/05/2025 19:35

He's a creepy twat.

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 08/05/2025 19:33

What ridiculous click bait nonsense. THIS was in the Daily Mail (sorry!)

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-14692305/Tom-Cruise-set-receive-knighthood-Royal-honor-romance-heats-Ana-Armas.html

The article actually says (it's behind a paywall but I clipped this before it disappeared!)

Will it be: 'Arise, Sir Tom Cruise?'
Sources close to the matter say that 'Cruise's team have been sounded out' about the possibility of a knighthood – and believe that he may get the award as soon as next month in King Charles's Birthday Honours.

So, apparently, sources are saying that 'Tom's 'team' are sounding out the possibility of a knighthood.' NOT that he is getting one! LOL why should he get one?! I like Tom and @GeorgianaM you are wrong that he has not done anything for 20+ years, but he doesn't deserve a knighthood!

Tom Cruise is set to receive a knighthood

I'd like to see Posh get a Damehood for services to fashion. Great eyeliner pencils.

Arlanymor · 08/05/2025 19:30

Badlifeday · 08/05/2025 19:27

He's already at Operating Thetan Level 8, so a knighthood is a bit of an anti-climax.

Waa haa haaaaaa! Oh I needed that giggle, thank you! 😆

SuperTrooper14 · 08/05/2025 19:30

Showing your ignorance there, OP – the first Mission: Impossible film helped revive Pinewood Studios in the UK and Cruise has filmed dozens of movies here since. As an actor and a producer, he has poured millions, if not billions, into the UK economy.

Lou670 · 08/05/2025 19:27

Not just an actor that learns lines and 'pretends to be someone else'. He does all this own stunts unlike many actors that use a stunt double. He has broken bones, had multiple stitches and risked his life in many of his films. I don't think what he does or doesn't do in his personal life should come in to it as that not want he is being recognized for.

Leaffilledlattice · 08/05/2025 19:27

SnoozingFox · 08/05/2025 18:41

He can't.

According to Google he can, but it will just be an honorary knighthood and he can’t call himself Sir.

Richiewoo · 08/05/2025 19:27

He's can't be a sir. He's not British.

Someonelookedatmypostinghistorysoichanged · 08/05/2025 19:26

ThePussy · 08/05/2025 19:23

He will get an honorary knighthood. So he can’t call himself Sir Tom. He’ll be Tom Cruise KBE.

Terry Wogan became British as soon as he possibly could as he wanted to be Sir Terry.

oh Can he only be sir if he’s British ?

quantumbutterfly · 08/05/2025 19:25

IWasTheLemonHelper · 08/05/2025 19:19

I don’t care what Tom Cruise has been awarded, I’m sure there’s a political reason for it - but I think its time David Beckham and Torvill&Dean got theirs.

Edited

Is that you Posh?

JaneJeffer · 08/05/2025 19:24

Yay! Well done Sir Tom

butterpuffed · 08/05/2025 19:24

TomatoSandwiches · 08/05/2025 18:49

I sincerely hope you are not accusing Tom Cruise of committing offenses as serious as Jimmy Saville was... if so you need to talk to the police.

Or a Doctor.

maggiecate · 08/05/2025 19:23

I’m not a fan especially (I think he’s hugely underutilised his skills as actor in favour of making action movies) but his movies have made a huge financial contribution to the UK film industry. As well as being an actor he’s also a producer, and he’s chosen to make a lot of his films at Pinewood and other locations in the UK. He’s one of the very few stars left whose name pretty much guarantees bums in seats in the cinema. Having him make films here is a real vote of confidence in the talent of our technical and production staff. He received the BFI fellowship recently in recognition of his support over 40 years. A lot of people here have his films to thank for making a successful career in the industry.

BFI to honour Tom Cruise with Fellowship award

The British Film Institute (BFI) is to celebrate actor and producer Tom Cruise with its highest honour, a BFI Fellowship.
