To hate women who make a big martyry song and dance about the housework

Just read an article in the daily mail on this theme

One quoted woman says she'd rather live on a commune of women than with a man because there would be more sharing of "the domestic load"

Personally I would rather die than live with Neat Women in some dedicated to cleaning hellscape

If you want things to be tidy, tidy

Otherwise dont and shaddup about it

(I know this is possible because neither my husband nor I gaf about tidying and we have fun instead)

I don't believe for a second that every woman who is pissed off about cleaning is making herself a martyr. Unfortunately there are still plenty of men who see this as a woman's job even if they both work full time. So no I don't think women should just shut up and accept either doing all tidying themselves or living in filth.

My housekeeping standards are pretty low but I'd be pissed off if my DH never loaded the dishwasher or did the laundry. Those are pretty essential tasks that need to be done, you're not exactly a martyr if you end doing them because your DH won't. What else can you do, walk round naked and eat off the floor?

Sheknowsaboutme · 05/05/2025 21:27

What fun things do you do OP?

Is it bright to spend your downtime cleaning instead of having fun?

It’s perfectly possible to do both, of course. If you keep on top of it it takes hardly any time. And it doesn’t hang over you every time you enter the house or a room to see it’s a filthy shit-heap.

You seem to think that to keep a house tidy takes all your free time. It doesn’t.

You sound like someone who attaches some kind of cool factor to a house being messy and dirty, and think those who manage to keep a clean house are saddoes, but that says more about you than them - see my previous post.

My mum was/is tidy. I would prefer she had been fun.

I’m both 🤷🏻‍♀️

Living the dream fantasy of no housework =

Bin overflows everywhere all over the floor
Toilet is crusted with shite
No clean clothes and stink waves rising from piles of dirty laundry
No clean dishes and mould and vermin move in
Beds are now fetid fart boxes
Dusty cover on everything and dust bunny chandeliers
Climbing through piles of detritus never tidied up

Unless your house is like that, you are doing housework. And if you're doing housework and no one is helping, you're a hero saving everyone from grimefightersville and can sing and dance as much as you like

Taking the bin out is pretty easy.
Pour a bit of bleach down now and then.
Do you not have a washing machine and dishwasher?? (Ironing is unnecessary)
We change the bed once a month (together, we both hate it)
There are piles of stuff everywhere and dust reaches a maximum amount I find

Hmm - not when kids are involved. So often you hear from people whose lasting memory of childhood is of a grubby, untidy house. It’s a myth that children don’t care about mess and dirt.

My mum was/is tidy. I would prefer she had been fun.

Walk into the bathroom you cleaned. Your bloke has left his beard trimmings and toothpaste spit in the basin. Look at the toilet. He's left piss on the floor, pubes on the seat and skidmarks in the bowl. Sigh. Sigh again, and take on board that he feels far too important to clean up after himself - it's your job. He actually sees it as your job to remove his shit from the bowl - and to wash the shit out of his underpants because he cba to keep his backside clean. Then - deep breath - try to feel sexual attraction to him . . . No wonder women instigate the majority of divorces.

I feel very... seen right now 😬

Round of applause for The Cool Girl.

Why not hate the men who refuse to do their fair share of the housework?

WeHaveTheRabbit · 05/05/2025 16:33

While I think saying that you hate women who make a big song and dance about cleaning is OTT, I do think some people (men and women) moan and martyr themselves about ordinary tasks. See also: competitive tiredness. For the vast majority of people in the UK in the 21st century, keeping a house clean and tidy really isn't that difficult. Of course there are exceptions, especially if you or your child(ren) have disabilities. But the labour-saving devices we have these days make life so much easier than it was for earlier generations.

frozendaisy · 05/05/2025 16:20

Or maybe their sons because no one wants to breed with the entitled pricks and they are desperate to show off grandchildren!

MsNevermore · 05/05/2025 16:19

Haven’t used one of these in a long time….

But here we go:

frozendaisy · 05/05/2025 16:18

Well if even the Daily Mail women are complaining about it, it’s hit the Stepford Wives massive!
Or at least their daughters!

blindblinds · 05/05/2025 16:18

Judging by some of the replies the OP has a point 😆

frozendaisy · 05/05/2025 16:12

Everyone needs clean underwear, food prepared in a hygienic space and consumable items (e.g. toothpaste say) to just function as a basic human.

It’s when dumb grunts expect and don’t acknowledge the huge amount of “unpaid” work that goes into running a household.

Even you must clean your teeth, wipe your arse and boil a kettle from time to time OP.

And growing numbers of women are sick of it, because they work full time out of the house as well now.

And many more grunts sit there blaming everything except themselves why they can’t get a female to do their domestic work free, in fact be grateful to look after them, and then suck their cocks in appreciation.

Can you honestly not understand that OP?
Yes live in filth together if you choose.

AnneLovesGilbert · 05/05/2025 16:09

I hope there aren’t children or animals living in this house where no one gives a fuck about keeping it clean or tidy.

IAmTheLogLady · 05/05/2025 16:04

PartyPotato · 05/05/2025 13:18

I am laughing at some of these replies because OP hasn’t articulated herself very well, but I think a lot of people have misunderstood what OP is (clumsily) trying to say. She’s not saying, don’t bother cleaning your because it’s not important. Shes saying don’t absolutely exhaust and depress yourself by doing everything for everyone else and then complain about it. Ask for help, or stop doing it. They’ll learn (‘they’ refers to lazy husbands/partners and kids).

I think op is a goady fucker on a wind up.
They probably think HQ have clocked off and gone to the pub so they'll get away with it

Well if my DP had done any of that he'd be told in no uncertain terms to clean it up...Hell, I'd throw the cleaning kit at him every fucking time until he got the message. No wonder so many men behave like slobs when the women in their life let them get away with it.

MereNoelle · 05/05/2025 15:44

Abitlosttoday · 05/05/2025 15:43

Stop hating women. Stop reading the Daily Mail.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 05/05/2025 15:34

You realise they don't all start out like this. Once they've got themselves a wife - usually when she's on Mat Leave - they backpedal on all the life skills they've ever learned. And it goes on from there. If they were useless to start with do you REALLY think we still would have married them?

Plenty of women still would let's be real! Or they know and have more children with them
