To hate women who make a big martyry song and dance about the housework

Just read an article in the daily mail on this theme

One quoted woman says she'd rather live on a commune of women than with a man because there would be more sharing of "the domestic load"

Personally I would rather die than live with Neat Women in some dedicated to cleaning hellscape

If you want things to be tidy, tidy

Otherwise dont and shaddup about it

(I know this is possible because neither my husband nor I gaf about tidying and we have fun instead)

But their options are stay and keep their family intact, or leave and then do ALL of the work. Do you really think a man who behaved like that is going to suddenly want 50/50 and take over half of the admin for the kids? No. You know that. Read any thread on MN for confirmation. Some men literally disappear from their lives. Some do bare minimum and then make her chase him about for everything. If she tries to meet someone else she'll get shit for bringing a man into the home. She'll be lucky if she has time to date. So then she's one and done and still doing 100%of the work.

So you're being rude about women for making the best of a bad situation.

Indeed. If you have children with someone mildly useless, as opposed to outright abusive and obstructive, there's a calculation to be made about whether it's financially and practically worthwhile to leave and at what point.

I wouldn't blame a woman with young children for staying in a "dead" marriage for financial or practical reasons - divorce is time-consuming and emotionally draining and child maintenance doesn't cover nursery fees. So there's a lot to be said for putting off pulling the plug at least until the kids are at school. And of course a lot of women walk out when their kids leave home.

Plenty of women still would let's be real! Or they know and have more children with them

The servants should shut up and serve with a smile.

Tell me you don't have kids without telling me you don't have kids.

Maybe they have am "excuse the mess, were making memories" sign 🤔

You HATE them? Because they don't like being slobs and treated as skivvies?

You don't sound very fun, do you.

I guess OP is just Not Like Other Girls

Must be nice, I'm forever tidying up

My fairy unpacks everything, I must be doing something wrong.

WorthyOtter · 06/05/2025 20:59

IpsyUpsyDaisyDoos · 06/05/2025 20:57

Maybe they have one of those fairies that comes in and puts away their stuff and washes things.

"Shall we tidy up?"

"Nah, the fairy will do that, let's go to Alton Towers".

Squirrelsnut · 06/05/2025 20:58

Are you 17?

IpsyUpsyDaisyDoos · 06/05/2025 20:57

WorthyOtter · 06/05/2025 19:54

So you and husband don't tidy up at all and choose to have fun instead? I mean I like the idea but not realistic is it OP come on

She's a Daily Mail ready. Of course it's only women she hates.

Taking the bin out is pretty easy.
Pour a bit of bleach down now and then.
Do you not have a washing machine and dishwasher?? (Ironing is unnecessary)
We change the bed once a month (together, we both hate it)
There are piles of stuff everywhere and dust reaches a maximum amount I find

You change your sheets once a MONTH? 🤢

Also, you clearly don’t have kids. Or pets. It was so much easier when I didn’t have those either, I didn’t ‘get’ when people used to go on about housework all the time. And then I very quickly entered the real world 😂

Bet your house stinks.

SomethingInnocuousForNow · 06/05/2025 08:02

Iudncuewbccgrcb · 05/05/2025 11:50

Well you certainly do hate women.

Why?

Agree, the title could just be narrowed to "I hate women".

This doesn't sound fun, it sounds dirty. And I am a big fan of "living" rather than constantly cleaning. But there needs to be a basic level of cleanliness in which to have fun.

Let the house be messy during the day while you're enjoying yourself. Tidy it later. As long as it's clean underneath. For your own health.

echt · 06/05/2025 00:30

You lost me at "hate". Then The Daily Mail.

Arf at your username, OP.

Moier · 06/05/2025 00:29

Big difference between tidying and cleaning.
It doesn't have to be a competition... you do you.
My cleaner/ carer does mine.
I have loads of fun.

Look so someone has to do the bin all the time, someone has to put laundry in washer, dryer/line, sort it, fold it, put it away in various people's rooms. Someone has to load unload dishwasher multiple times a day. Imagine you hate all of those things as much as changing the bed? It's not as simple as neat people can be neat and people who don't care can just chill. It needs to be done. Therefore it is a travesty if someone has to do it all. Imagine instead of toilet/dishwasher you don't seem to hate, you had to change the bed 3 times a day alone by yourself forever. Shit isn't it?

I would hate to live in a commune but have full sympathy for anyone exhausted by constant housework.

It sounds like you don’t have kids so you just don’t understand how much housework they generate

Having said that, some mumsnetters have insane standards around changing towels once a day or whatever and i do think it doesn’t sound like they can be enjoying life much. Seems rare in real life though

LimitedBrightSpots · 05/05/2025 23:25

For many women, if they "matched their energy" to the efforts of their partners, their kids would be taken into care.

Adults can live how they like.

Yotoyoto · 05/05/2025 21:55

Do you have kids? They create 90% of our mess and are too young to do anything about (preschool so even tidying needs instruction etc)

it is unavoidable that their daily chaos needs sorting, and it takes time and effort. Someone has to do it. Every. day.

OutandAboutMum1821 · 05/05/2025 21:38

OP I found your post funny in a good way!

I am one of those Neat Women 😂 but I agree with you, I don’t moan about things, I just get on with cleaning/tidying up.

If it was making me moan all the time, I’d rather ‘shaddap’ and hire a cleaner than keep moaning/listening to someone else moan 😂

DUsername · 05/05/2025 21:36

This actually reminds me of when men accuse women of nagging to shut them up. I don't nag or make a 'song and dance' about cleaning because my husband isn't a giant man baby and does his share. The women who are 'making a song and dance' are being put in that position by the useless arse wipes they've ended up with.
