Relatively lighthearted as I probably won’t say anything but… sitting here with a cup of tea staring at it.

YABU - it’s fine
YANBU - annoying

It's outrageous that your neighbours should plant some trees that are spoiling the square symmetry of your grey bare fence. Call 101.

BangersAndGnash · 03/05/2025 17:55

Put some up against your side of the fence, as that is the biggest eyesore.

Apart from the solar panels.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 03/05/2025 17:55

Add some plants. Have you just moved in?
It just needs some TLC.

MoistVonL · 03/05/2025 17:52

What on earth is wrong with the pleached trees? They aren’t trellises, they are supports for structuring the branches. They aren’t ugly, they’re just plant supports.

Your garden needs a bit of help. A few robust shrubs and climbers will hide the bare fence and be fairly child-proof.

Hedgehogmud · 03/05/2025 17:51

Oh don’t say anything about it! Free green screening. It’ll look lovely.

lifeonmars100 · 03/05/2025 17:49

If you saw what I live next door to you would pass out! My neighbours currently have three broken buggies, two rusting barbeques and a mountain of old shoes and black bin bags chucked out there. As there is no fence the mess often spreads to the communal entry way. I can hardly bear to go outside!

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 03/05/2025 17:49

Will also help with the noise from paddling pool fun.

That’s what I thought, but no. I guess my AI make overs were unnecessary OP. 😂 But at least you don’t have plastic grass, because that is the worst.

Your time wasn't wasted, I enjoyed them!!

I haven't yet embrace the beauty of AI, but I should try to get my head around it as I'm decorating the entire house & and I'm sure it could help. Any tips for a beginner? ( technology challenged beginner)??

Aw AIBU not disappointing today 😂😂

Well I think they look a bit shit OP but I am sure they will look better when they grow a bit

AlmostSummer25 · 03/05/2025 17:46

ForFunGoose · 03/05/2025 17:33

I really dislike those, poor trees look like a they’re bring crucified. Plant something wild a beautiful on your side eg Laburnum

they won't look crucified for very long, they will soon grow over the trellis and will look lovely, much nicer than the plain red brick of their house

BeNiceWhenItsFinished · 03/05/2025 17:45

Paint your fence dark oak and put a feature like a bird bath or some other ornament in front of it. That will give you a focal point against a neutral background and detract your eyeline from what you don't want to be looking at.

Mumblechum0 · 03/05/2025 17:45

I also voted YANBU because I thought we were talking about the bare fence and garden that isn’t a garden.

The espaliered plants will be the only pretty thing there 😂

Lonelycrab · 03/05/2025 17:44

What looks like the outline of a dead body on your lawn?

😂 brilliant!

UnstableCow · 03/05/2025 17:44

terracelane23 · 03/05/2025 17:41

What’s the eyesore?

Most of us think it's her fence, she's claiming it's the neighbours newly planted trees... the trees disturbing her beautiful view..

(of their house)

UndermyShoeJoe · 03/05/2025 17:44

Trees will be lovely maybe do something your side to offset the fence.

AlmostSummer25 · 03/05/2025 17:42

light hearted my arse!

What was it? You were probably not going to say?

What did you actually think you could say about what they have done in THEIR garden.??

BeNiceWhenItsFinished · 03/05/2025 17:42

terracelane23 · 03/05/2025 17:41

What’s the eyesore?

The fence.

HenDoNot · 03/05/2025 16:29

Yes you’ve got the ugly side of the fence and you’re right, it is a bit of an eyesore.

You should plant some climbers to pretty it up a bit like your neighbours have done.

Brilliant!🤣

100PercentFaithful · 03/05/2025 17:37

I would definitely put a few shrubs in OP. A flower border would look even better.

PicklesMacGraw · 03/05/2025 17:36

LittleGreenDragons · 03/05/2025 16:51

Yes OP, your garden is an eyesore. Don't you like flowering shrubs or pretty flowers at all?

What a snide comment.

OP the trees will look good soon. It’s just because they are new that you are noticing them so much.

ForFunGoose · 03/05/2025 17:33

crimsonlake · 03/05/2025 17:31

OP me thinks you are backtracking...what is it you were 'probably not going to say to the neighbours?'

UnstableCow · 03/05/2025 17:31

Dutchhouse14 · 03/05/2025 17:17

I thought you meant the bare fence and wanted ideas for planting to soften it.
The pleached trees will look great when the grow in, but will take a while. You need something to divert the eye from the fence- like your own planting!

Oh so did I. 😂 I only noticed the fence and bare garden.
