Why can’t Harry just pay for his own private security?

Don’t get it. He says that he can’t ever visit the UK again because his security won’t be provided. Loads of celebrities and high profile business people pay for their own security, why should tax payers pay for his security when he isn’t a working royal anymore?

What work is Andrew doing to justify his taxpayer funded security ?

Charles paid out millions for years to keep Andrew safe after Andrew’s close association with Epstein was uncovered . Millions
Then Andrew was said to have made some lucrative deals in the Middle East ( all from royal lodge we assume ) and suddenly had money to fund some security . Andrew also enjoys the tax payer funded security we all pay for at Windsor .

Excellent point
Only other possibility is that Charlie still believes the rumours that Harry isn't his, so is being spiteful 😲

There was an attempted entry at his home in Montecito recently. I'd be more worried about my families safety in the USA to be honest.

The issue is H wants 24/7 security globally so for UK tax payers or US tax payers to fund it. This has always been about him and his family being classed as IPP so someone else picks up the bill.

myrtleWilson · 04/05/2025 07:32

@LBFseBrom he has a history of not telling complete truths, reframing his experience of situations to his advantage - even in this court process vis a vis his offer to pay for security so people will take a ‘pinch of salt’ approach.

Yes but uk intelligence won’t know all the threats, some will slip through net. If I were Harry I’d personally be fearful for mine & my families safety if I were him , even if Uk said “ no threats identified , no armed police needed”

Best he stay at home then.

No system is 100% perfect but RAVEC have an excellent record and will not want any harm to come to the King's son on their watch.

It's not the role of the security services to indulge the paranoia of the exiled 5th in line.

Harry lies.

Why do you not believe him?

If he was not provided with security that would be because the very experienced security experts, after considering all the evidence including secret intelligence, decided there was no risk. If that was the case then why should we pay for it?

A quibble, but there is never no risk, but you could say that about anyone.

I never said the taxpayer should pay for it.

That’s not what he said in the interview.

Harry lies.

I lived near a Premiership football stadium and the police presence is definitely needed to keep the sheer number of travelling fans safe. The police working this kind of shift would be experts on crowd control so on horseback etc - not armed and protecting a VIP at close range.

I think pp facetious comment was about transfer of finances, not that Harry should be followed around by crowd control officers on horseback.

Quite @jeffgoldblum
I’m struggling to see why this should be so difficult to understand.

He lost his appeal against RAVEC, there was no incorrect application of security arrangements. His current bespoke security arrangement is appropriate. He doesn’t need to have armed protection at his beck and call 24/7 at an additional (huge) expense to us, the tax payer.

It’s crazy talk to also be saying we should be accommodating his demands by looking at diverting manpower and/or money from other areas just to pander to this man’s hugely inflated sense of entitlement.

It’s case closed (or should be) and he really needs to move on now.

Well said! It’s quite obvious that he is receiving a special adequate bespoke security arrangement for when he wishes to come here , all he has to do is give notice!
and should his family invite him , then he’s assured of receiving full protection.

That’s not remotely possible.

This poster doesn’t seem to understand the difference between the police who attend football matches to protect the public and the armed special police who Harry wants to protect him!
it’s like attempting to divert 100 pounds to pay off 1000 and wondering why the bills aren’t paid!

Harry is high risk because he is the monarch's son and is 5th in line to the throne. He didn't ask for that, and should be protected against the risk that flows from being in that position.

Quite right he should have exactly what the last monarchs son who was 5th in line to the throne received!

JorgyPorgy · 03/05/2025 23:57

IAmATorturedPoet · 03/05/2025 23:51

Sorry but no.
Why should the security and safety of hundreds of individuals and families be sacrificed just to ease the paranoia of a millionaire.

Is he not higher profile than other RF members? There is a lot of online animosity towards him & Meghan , maybe that makes him higher risk?

Divert it from football clubs

Do you know anything about how taxes are allocated and the government runs things?
seriously our economy is not good! It’s not recovered since before covid , cuts are being made to essential services, pensioners and disabled people are having their money cut , bins are not being emptied leading to a giant increase in vermin .
and you think the paltry amount it takes for normal unarmed police will cover Harry’s fully armed special forces armed protection!

Where he can have armed security yes

Armed security are hardly invulnerable when armed groups within the country’s borders are using missiles and bombs to attack the civilian population.

CleaningSilverCandlesticks · 03/05/2025 23:49

MoominMai · 03/05/2025 23:45

He has to give 30 days not 28 days notice and he’s not guaranteed full protection but bespoke based on an assessment hence the notice period requirement. He won’t get the automatic full protection the other senior working Royals get given he’s not one of them any longer.

Good. I don’t want to be paying for unnecessary levels of security and I definitely don’t want to be paying for that level of security to be on standby should he decide to pop on a private jet and fly over for 24 hours.

jeffgoldblum · 03/05/2025 23:47

JorgyPorgy · 03/05/2025 23:39

But is it really his fault if one of his family are murdered just because they’ve made themselves so controversial? He’s not an evil person

Well normally if you are worried about your families safety you don’t normally brag about killing members of a notoriously violent terror organisation do you?

He doesnt want his family at risk do they won’t come to Uk.

Yet he will go to Colombia, Nigeria and Ukraine?
