Why can’t Harry just pay for his own private security?

jennylamb1 · 03/05/2025 14:36

Don’t get it. He says that he can’t ever visit the UK again because his security won’t be provided. Loads of celebrities and high profile business people pay for their own security, why should tax payers pay for his security when he isn’t a working royal anymore?

And if you don’t want the expense or the headache then don’t train a monkey to dance & make a celebrity out of a child.

this is the royal family YOU want from birth in your country and encourage and support and a media that has build an industry off them.

Harry’s identity was sold the moment he was born - cashing in his privacy now or attempting to be privare - it makes no difference - he’ll never be private. You threw him to the circus the minute he was born.

the inhumanity of British society and coldness after what he went through with his Mother and now the controversy over his wife & exiling them via security.

Frostyloz · 04/05/2025 16:02

The number of wilfully obtuse people on this thread is astonishing. We’re all wasting our time trying to explain. It’s clear they’ll blindly believe whatever word salad comes out of Harry’s mouth, regardless of the facts.

IAmATorturedPoet · 04/05/2025 16:01

@Lavenderfarmcottage I do hope you feel better getting that off your chest.

What is it exactly about PH current security arrangement you find so unpalatable? Do you think he should have access to UK. intelligence? that he should have armed police on standby 24/7 should he decide on a whim he fancies a pub crawl around the Cotswolds? Are you happy to pay for that?

No idea about the pope 😂

myrtleWilson · 04/05/2025 15:55

So @Lavenderfarmcottage how would you organise security staff to be permanently available for Harry to avail himself of them whenever he turns up?
They need notice (emergencies notwithstanding) to assess threat status and organise staff required. Am like @HonoriaBulstrode am bemused what the Pope has to do with it - is he giving up his security for Harry?😂

oh come on they’re not the local party planning business - I’m sure they can set up a system with Harry. I’m sure the royal family have last minute arrangements and needs and that this is exponentially expensive - adding Harry to the mix isn’t going to make a huge difference.

Charles has what ? Like 10,0000 rooms under guard . Could he not section off part of it and make it exclusively available to his own grandkids ? The tight old bastard. If Harry wants to go for dinner or to France or have freedom he can - they have a mini army of security - what’s a few more.

Give me a break !!! The absolute nonsense on here. It’s the king of England. Did we all forget the momentous stuff up of Diana dying while pursued by press ? She left the family and was offered police protection fyi.

what a load of nonsense.

I think the row has gone too far for them to go back

HonoriaBulstrode · 04/05/2025 15:46

As the head of the Catholic Church...

What has the Pope got to do with it?

Lavenderfarmcottage · 04/05/2025 15:37

And this whole rhetoric about gossip and blabbing. Sure Charlie and Will didn’t blab - they just had their people do that for them. Give me a break.

I’m sure they are capable of talking about horses and polo and palaces and the latest 5000 pound wine they trie & making small talk about grandkids.

As the head of the Catholic Church and a family who forgave Andrew, it’s terrible.

Lavenderfarmcottage · 04/05/2025 15:32

Feel so angry about this - such a loss of faith in humanity and people’s judgment. Also the naivity of people - it’s clear this decision is rigged and designed to control. The masses are so naive about ‘democracy’ - this reeks of in-house manoeuvres and a royal dictatorship casting out one of their own to protect their power and reputation.

Lavenderfarmcottage · 04/05/2025 15:31

People are saying Harry gets protection if he gives 28 days - some sort of liaison officer - this sounds like the kind of word salad pedalled by governments.

the idea that the son of the kind doesn’t get police protection is madness. It’s utter gaslighting to act as though he’s safe and has freedom here and that it all depends on the current threat. He’s had Taliban threats since he was in Afghanistan and he’s very very high profile even if not cutting ribbons here.

everyone is acting and gaslighting that he’s not that famous or worth protecting. Come on - the sons of Diana and Charles are incomparable to other celebrities & royals - they’re known at all corners of the globe.

seems to me the British royals and the media got and juiced what they could out of the little boy who walked behind a coffin and was essentially a child celebrity from birth.

monkey won’t dance so they’ve exiled him. This is essentially a way of ensuring he isn’t in the UK for long unless he’s cutting ribbons.

HonoriaBulstrode · 04/05/2025 15:30

I doubt that the King wants not to talk to his wayward idiot son, but talking to him has become a risk Charles can't afford to take.

Quite. Harry has told the world he doesn't know how long his father has got left. If he did know, could you trust him not to blab?

Its probably not just up to Charles - he is probably advised to be very careful about any interactions he has with H for constitutional, legal and security reasons.

Charles has always accepted harry?

He's not speaking to him at all now.

He stopped speaking to him when Harry made it clear that any conversation he had with anyone might end up misquoted and misrepresented by Harry to the media. Harry is not someone to trust. I doubt that the King wants not to talk to his wayward idiot son, but talking to him has become a risk Charles can't afford to take.

harry looks just like his father, grandfather.

Yes, exactly! It's obvious to anyone who troubles to look. And even if it wasn't, Charles has always accepted Harry as his 'darling boy' and it's no-one else's business.

The only thing in support of it seems to be the ginger, and that clearly comes from the Spencer side. The ginger gene evidently goes back a long way - it came down the Spencer-Churchill line too.

With both charles and diana shagging around, itd be very hard to know whos cjild is whose.

They cant do a dna test on harry without harrys consent.

Unless they pay a hairdresser to keep a clipping of harrys hair or something

I don't think Charles bore any illegitimate children of his body, mostly because being male he would be unable to; and I don't think Diana did either. But I think it's naive to assume that the general rule regarding DNA testing would apply when Diana inserting an illegitimate child into the succession would be high treason; I think the baby prince's consent would not be sought in a matter so important to the constitution.

IdaGlossop · 04/05/2025 13:28

Only someone as entitled and lacking in judgement could interpret 'bespoke' as 'inferior'.

Well yes, there is the main issue @IdaGlossop, Harry is entitled and lacking in judgment, intelligence and understanding!

IdaGlossop · 04/05/2025 13:28

jeffgoldblum · 04/05/2025 00:48

Well said! It’s quite obvious that he is receiving a special adequate bespoke security arrangement for when he wishes to come here , all he has to do is give notice!
and should his family invite him , then he’s assured of receiving full protection.

Do you know hair clippings don’t provide DNA? You need a root. Stop watching TV and go learn something love.

You CAN get DNA from rootless hair. So it's you that needs to learn something love.

Thats absolutely reasonable. What more does he want? Hes a fool and digging himself an even bigger hole with this constant whining

He's taking up a huge amount of court time and costing the tax payer for this and his security when he visits the UK. Now he's also proposing to take up civil service and government time by demanding a review of RAVEC. It is as if he thinks the machinery of state is there to serve him. 🙄

They are not unkind rumours. The upper classes have notoriously had loads of affairs and lots of children fron other partners. So it is indeed a possibility that harry is someone elses son.

The time- line with james hewitt is debatable. Some sources say that diana didnt meet james hewitt, until after harry was born.

However, other sources state that Diana did meet james hewitt, before she was pregnant with harry

Edited

Can you hear yourself?
the upper classes! It’s not some tv drama series, these are real people with real lives .
and although the “upper classes “ apparently liked to engage in bed hopping, they were extremely serious about who inherited what !
and that doesn’t even include the royal family, who certainly don’t have “ bastards” running around the place since god knows how long ago !

the law about those included on the LOS isn’t just a royal one it’s also a parliamentary one , although the mother no longer has to give birth with a government member to watch anymore, these things are checked and taken seriously.

For heavens sake!!! im the furthest there is from being a fan of Harry .
these fake and unkind rumours were put to bed years ago , apart from the fact that the timeline for Harry’s conception and her affair with James Hewitt don’t coincide.
harry looks just like his father, grandfather.
and if that doesn’t convince you , know this … the monarchy may have modernised itself from the medieval period but no child who isn’t a direct offspring of royal parents has ever been permitted or included in the LOS , it’s checked.

Seems very unlikely: does anyone seriously think a DNA test was not carried out on Harry when those rumours started to be bandied about?
