Neighbour’s visitors parking on my driveway

For a while now my next door neighbour’s visitor’s have been parking on my driveway.

We didn’t mind once or twice but it has become a regular occurrence and happens when DH is mainly at work (he has the only car in household).

Im in the process of buying my own car and in the meantime I have put planters there now so nobody can park.
It is a bit of a hassle for DH as he has to move the planters every night.

The neighbour has took the funnies since I put the planters there.

AIBU?

I did say to her if she could ask her visitors not to park on our driveway and she walked of.

Then she’s best ignored and given no more thought
carry on with the planters and get a big sign saying no parking

UniqueRedSquid · 02/05/2025 12:07

Mention it to her and if they don’t cease then leave a note on their windscreen.

With superglue.

I can't believe you went to the effort and expense of buying planters that your husband has to move twice a day rather than saying "Could you please stop parking in my drive?"

It sounds as if she and her visitors have got the message, @petuniasss - though it does involve hassle for your dp when he gets home. I might well think it is worth it, so that he can always park on his own drive, but it's up to him - if he's happy to park down the road while cheeky fuckers use his drive, he can stop putting the planters out.

Fair enough. If she wants to be funny about that, then that's her issue. You've done nothing wrong. It's your driveway.

No the neighbour never asked us, her visitor’s now park down the road since the planters have been put up.

Always amazes me how many people will start a thread on mumsnet when they could have used that thing called a voice.

BoyDoIMissSecrets · 02/05/2025 12:01

Depends.
Did they ask about parking and you agree initially but have now just stuck planters there instead of speaking to them?
If you didn’t mind at first it’s easy for them to assume it’s no big deal unless you’ve mentioned you are no longer happy with them doing it.

rubyslippers · 02/05/2025 11:59

Just speak to them
it’s your path
whether or not you’re buying another car or not, it’s very cheeky of the neighbours to let their visitors park on your property

MNpenisadvisor · 02/05/2025 11:58

Have you spoken to them?
