Strangest thing you've had stolen from you?

Am really annoyed that someone has probably stolen the center cap off my car wheel , have looked on Ebay for a replacement, none fit, contact the main dealer - £50 to replace. £50! Dealer has assured me there is NO OTHER COMPATIBLE wheel cap, so will likely just suck it up and pay which is the last thing we need this month.

What other weird things have people had stolen? (Call me naïve but I thought the world had moved on from stealing other peoples things!)

Another one at work was where someone pinched the toilet paper, mirror, and soap from the toilet. Left a stinking nappy though.

I had someone staying with me who over stayed their welcome and them moving out for quite unpleasant.
They moved out mid-winter. The nice weather rolls around, I go to hang my washing up outside on the line to dry and found they took my blooming laundry basket with them when they moved out. (Don’t need it when hanging washing up inside) That really pissed me off! (They had also taken other odds and sods that I found out at the time but this one really annoyed me!)

As a teenager I had a beanie hat with my treasured Blue Peter badge pinned to it. A lad nicked my hat ‘for a laugh’. He returned the hat but kept the badge.

My washing line! I went to hang my washing out only to realise it was gone! 😆

I had that happen a few years ago. I only realised when we got some nice weather, and I went to hang some washing out.

Shardlake63 · 29/04/2025 15:19

My knickers - off the washing line!
Not sexy lacy jobs either, but plain boring white cotton M&S ones.
We found the clothes pegs dumped in a neighbours garden round the corner.

Jinglebelljoan · 29/04/2025 15:12

I had a frog that croaked when you walked past it on my front garden, some fucker had it away

AnneKipankitoo · 29/04/2025 15:12

Not me, but a friend.. had a plant pot arrangement newly planted outside the front door. Just followed the trail of earth and took it back.

We're a corner house. According to my neighbour some CF parked over my drive on Easter Sunday, leapt out with secateurs, hacked a big chunk off my rosemary bush in my garden, and then drove off! CF was obviously planning lamb for lunch that day!

Sadly my Ring doorbell doesn't cover that side of the garden otherwise I'd be posting pics on the street whatsapp!

Loreli1983 · 29/04/2025 15:02

A friend had her car broken I to and justvthe steering wheel was pinched!

DrunkenKoala · 29/04/2025 15:02

Car was broken into and they stole DP’s sunglasses case but left his sunglasses. Also slightly off topic one bonfire night someone set fire to all the dog poo bins in our local park but left the normal bins alone Confused

Worryabouteverything · 29/04/2025 14:59

A Tom Jones cassette tape from the car.
Yet on the backseat was a sports bag with equipment and clothes.

Jollyhockeystickss · 29/04/2025 14:54

I went for a massage and took my chunky necklace off and when I got home I realised so I text her and she denied it it was a lovely hippy necklace and she was a hippy so she kept it and denied it!!

ItGhoul · 29/04/2025 14:52

I was trying on a pair of shoes in a shop and while I was doing that, someone stole one of my old shoes. Not both. Just the one.

The only explanations I can think of are a kid playing a stupid prank, or someone with a fetish who likes sniffing old shoes.

I drive a 20 year old BMW, and was parked outside a restaurant in Malvern a few years ago. When we came back to the car after dinner, someone had stolen the BMW badge off the front of the bonnet - bizarre!

When I was about 18, I hosted a house party and at one stage a group of us were talking about our last day of senior school and the leavers shirts we had all signed and decorated, so I got mine out to show people. You guessed it, the next morning when I was tidying up and looked for the shirt - it was gone!

We had a stepped path which came down past the front of our house, and was used by the 2 houses next door to access their front doors at our old house. We bought solar powered lights which we stuck in the ground next to the steps to stop people missing them in the dark, but they were stolen. We replaced them, and they were stolen again!

SnuffleTruffleHound · 29/04/2025 14:49

This is years ago!
i had a mr blobby car figure (a soft toy with suckers on each arm/leg) he lived in my back window (not restricting view)
my car was broken into and that's all that went.

seashaken · 29/04/2025 14:46

Someone once came into our enclosed porch and took all our muddy boots.

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 29/04/2025 14:40

Had all my pillow cases stolen... apparently it's quite common during house burglaries. They use them to carry stuff. But I was miffed.

Emmz1510 · 29/04/2025 14:39

It’s not happened to me personally but I’m always amazed at the number of fairly regular emails about peoples lunches being nicked at my work! It’s a large but normal office with normal (I thought!) mostly middle aged people and I can’t wrap my head around who does that!

mylurcheristhebest · 29/04/2025 14:37

Someone once stole all of my ex partners clothes off the washing line but left mine.

Also had a patio stolen, it was there when we went to view the property and when we came to move in a few weeks later it was gone.

CherryRipe1 · 29/04/2025 14:34

An Amazon package off my doorstep. Wowsers, that happens alot round here BUT due to various thefts in the area and having had a couple nicked before I filled a box up with very rotten compost & kitchen waste, sealed it up & left on doorstep. It got nicked.

My old flat was an unusual set up in that our small block had been built on the plot of an old house. There were 4 flats in the block, two upstairs and two downstairs. I had the downstairs rear flat where the front door was accessed by going down the side driveway and then was around where a back door would have been when there was a house there.

I had a small patch of garden under my living room window where I'd ripped out the massive overgrown shrub and had put some concrete pots with various plants in for the summer. Came home from work one day and discovered one of the smallest ones had disappeared! They couldn't be seen from the road, so I was most perturbed that someone had walked round and pinched it! Assumed I'd eventually lose more but no, just that one! Perhaps they liked the geraniums!

Not as amusing as others posted on here. Whole paths??

@Newdress93 have a look here - https://www.asm-autos.co.uk/used-car-parts/ - they're a massive car scrap yard near me. They have literal piles of cars, many of which look far too good to be scrap!

Someone broke into my car and stole my old, crappy prescription sunglasses that I only use for driving but left my Raybans that were in their box in the glove compartment! They also took my £1 trolley coin 😡
