Strangest thing you've had stolen from you?

Am really annoyed that someone has probably stolen the center cap off my car wheel , have looked on Ebay for a replacement, none fit, contact the main dealer - £50 to replace. £50! Dealer has assured me there is NO OTHER COMPATIBLE wheel cap, so will likely just suck it up and pay which is the last thing we need this month.

What other weird things have people had stolen? (Call me naïve but I thought the world had moved on from stealing other peoples things!)

Also not me but a good friend. House broken into and among the vast amount of stuff stolen (jewelry, electronics, handbags) they stole her vibrator. Fucking grim that you’d take a used sex toy but I suppose these scrotes have no shame anyway

Are you my friend!
That happened to me, they also took all the Christmas presents as it was 2 days before Christmas, I was a single Mum and only had to go out because someone had set light to one of my Mums trees.

StrawberryWater · 01/05/2025 16:09

A loo brush.

It was new (so no faecal matter!). Friend half inched it off the table while I was putting my shopping away. Didn't realise until later.

When I asked her to return it she paypalled me 59p!

Cheeky mare, it was £3.99.

I got my money in the end. We're still friends but she's not been in my house since.

Did they take the toner out of the printer, or a spare one? If it was out of the printer, they'd end up covered with the stuff. It's messy enough when you're changing the cartridge officially.

It was the spare ones next to the printer. Took quite a lot of them too.

A garden wheelie bin, twice!

Currywurstmitpommes · 01/05/2025 15:09

The brakes off my bike- only realised as I tried to stop- they’d left the levers and done it while it was locked up in the shed. Scary moment for me and the car coming the other way😱

Jewelanemone · 01/05/2025 11:31

Years ago my friend's car was stolen and the thieves threw all her CDs into a hedge. The police returned them to her in a carrier bag. She was more upset about the slur on her musical tastes than she was about the loss of her car.

When my lodger moved out, she stole one of my spatulas. It was £1 from Poundland but it was amazing at getting all the cake batter out of the bowl.

My late mum had my grandad's military cross stolen from her by an electrician doing some work on her flat. That's the highest medal a non officer soldier can get which he got from being in the Somme from start to finish . The electrician said o can I have a look at it please and mustve watched her put it away because we noticed a few weeks later that it a gone .

A pair of jeans I bought from Jags in Hull. Took them off my washing line then threw them back over the garden wall a few days later !

Auburngal · 01/05/2025 07:50

Friend bought a new tv and put the old one by her front door, as was taking to the tip. Someone took it, thinking it was working. No it was not!

My iPod that I bought from the Sony centre in Tokyo - someone lifted it from my bag on the Tube. Gutted as it had much sentimental value to me as that was a holiday of a lifetime!

A tent, & everything in it, at a festival, in broad daylight

2 knives from my knife block....left the others. Same burglars stole all the meat from freezer and my laundry basket...but not the lid. Perhaps to transport the loot.

I got burgled and the fucker took 4 pillowcases off the bed. The cops said it was to carry the loot away. They stole my old Zenit camera, but left all the lenses and equipment, the insurance assessor was great, he said it was worth more than my little digital camera and camcorder together.

Kids broke into my car one week and stole the knob off my car radio (probably trying and failing to take the stereo). I parked in the same place the following week (no choice!) having had the window repaired. They broke in again and stole a packet of chocolate biscuits off the passenger seat.

That reminds me of the time I felt someone attempting to pickpocket me in London on one of the big sporting events when it was rammed.

Only problem for them was I had a stinking cold at the time and the only thing in my pocket was a really disgusting snotty hanky!

I really hope they got my cold because it was awful!

Back, back, back in the olden days my granny's friend came to visit. Her baby had a dirty nappy and my granny wrapped it up for her in a sheet of newspaper.
Someone helped themselves to this parcel on the bus. 70 years later my granny would still chortle at the thought of this thief spotting a mystery parcel, sneaking off with it and then unwrapping a dirty nappy.

Foxes used to regularly steal our washing off the line. I don't hang it out anymore because of them. Tumble dry even in summer.

I had a window smashed on my old banger of a car just to steal 20p off the floor years ago.

And not stealing, but my weirdest one was someone (definitely human) breaking into our garden and taking a shit on the grass. Just caught the edge of their arm on the ring doorbell as they walked up the side of the house, but not enough on camera to FB shame.

Foxes stole my Birkenstocks that I'd worn in the back garden, left outside and forgot. I found one up the road chewed to bits. Someone broke into my car & stole a load of vintage medicine bottles that had weird old fashioned compounds in them & vintage glass hypodermic needles. I'd cleared them out of my hoarder mum's house & was researching how to dispose of them safely. It's usually substance abusers that do petty crime like that round here so I dread to think of the outcome.

A travel book. On the plane. I left my guide book on the seat, went to the loo and it was gone.

So I had to do my trip without my guide book.

The bastards.

I once looked out of my front window to spot a woman walking away with a plant she had pulled up from my garden.

pumpkinpotpie · 30/04/2025 23:18

This is going to sound made up but it’s true. One Christmas a cleaner helped herself to a stollen cake someone had given me. Very weird but quite funny.

A whole months supply of my colostomy bags :)

a 17ft long carpet being stored in our garage was stolen

When I was in primary school, someone in my class took my keyring off my bag. My friend saw her do it, but she wouldn’t give it back. I haven’t forgotten about it in all these years 😂
