Am really annoyed that someone has probably stolen the center cap off my car wheel , have looked on Ebay for a replacement, none fit, contact the main dealer - £50 to replace. £50! Dealer has assured me there is NO OTHER COMPATIBLE wheel cap, so will likely just suck it up and pay which is the last thing we need this month.

What other weird things have people had stolen? (Call me naïve but I thought the world had moved on from stealing other peoples things!)

Someone stole my gs1s yellow toy tractor and trailer complete with stones in the trailer. It was driven onto the nearby main road and thrown from the car at around 1 am. The noise woke me and security lights came on. But in return they left me a dead rabbit in the porch. It was still warm and in a tesco carrier bag.

My v wealthy neighbour used to steal my green bins til.I had none. He had huge security gates and I could see them with my house name on them. Just why.

I know this is a resurrected thread but I think I might win.

My central heating was stolen.

Printer toner, but not the printer 🤔

Not surprising given the cost of toner!

@IntelCoreStrengthWHY are you still friends with her?! I know it’s only a few quid but that would be enough to kill it for me… Awful.

I think you mean @StrawberryWater - I am curious to know the same thing though!

A hoover, at tge time top of the range Dyson. Snook in through the back door but our kids were playing in the back street so really bloody cheeky!
Had to report to get a crime number for the insutance and when we were talking to the police he said he has a 6ft secure fence all round his garden, no gates. Someone had stolen his garden bench, which was also secured with big bolts into the concrete and had then lifted it over the fence and carried it off without anyone seeing!

I own a shop and someone took a bracelet out of an organza bag and just stole the bag. You can buy 100 of these bags for £3.99 on Amazon. Baffling.

The sheet off my bed when I got burgled.

police said it would have been to wrap the computer in.

We were burgled just before we went on holiday, and they took my empty cabin bag. Presumably for the same reason.

This still puzzles me nearly 30 years later. A tent pole from an A frame tent- whilst we were sleeping in it! The tent fell around us and we had to spend the night in the car.
I was a student and had borrowed the tent from family friends, had to get a replacement pole especially made.

Yesterday a thief stole my prescription painkillers from my shopping trolley in Lidl as our local store make you leave trollies at the store front due to shoplifting. Lesson learned not to leave anything in the trolley.

A pair of wellies from my boot, left open as I dropped crates at the food bank

A neighbour in my area has a fig tree and someone drove up, parked, climbed the tree, picked them all and drove off.

Some personal photographs of me by my landlady.

My suitcase looked as if someone had tampered with the lock and my photos were missing. I often saw her just watching the house and she would pop round at odd hours and seemed over friendly. She said she had kept every note I'd ever left her and my voice messages, which seemed weird. Once said 'I want to be you'.

A loo brush.

It was new (so no faecal matter!). Friend half inched it off the table while I was putting my shopping away. Didn't realise until later.

When I asked her to return it she paypalled me 59p!

Cheeky mare, it was £3.99.

I got my money in the end. We're still friends but she's not been in my house since.

Cheeky mare indeed! How on earth did she explain stealing it?

Whichone2024 · 16/11/2025 04:45

We were staying with family abroad and someone stole all the top halves of clothes from the washing line ie all the bikini tops, bras and T-shirts 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thepossibility · 16/11/2025 04:37

The button bit for the doorbell from the front door of the beauty salon I used to work at. I heard him rip it off the door and I chased him into a nearby hardware store and took it back off him!

Notthisagainyouidiot · 16/11/2025 02:05

Parked on kendals carpark in Manchester to go christmas shopping. Came back to find back passenger window smashed and the back seats dropped to get in the boot . I was a teacher at the time and the boot was full of newspaper and junk modelling material for christmas crafts so that would have been disappointing for the thieving articles.
But I later discovered they'd stolen a single roll of wrapping paper that had dropped out of a shopping bag into the footwear.

Popadomorbread · 16/11/2025 01:54

In our student house the washing machine was in an outbuilding attached to the house but you could access it without going inside. Someone stole a load of wet washing. Very odd.

XenoBitch · 16/11/2025 01:45

I know someone who was burgled and she had fentanyl patches out. But the thieves left them and stole all of her Kettle Crisps.

ElfAndSafetyBored · 16/11/2025 01:42

I was burgled twice and my CD collection was left both times 🤣

XenoBitch · 16/11/2025 01:39

I ordered a green wheelie bin from the council, and it was delivered and promptly stolen.
Green bins are for garden waste, and you have to pay for a subscription as a separate thing (£60 per year), so just having the bin wont mean your garden waste gets picked up.

Beesandhoney123 · 16/11/2025 01:36

Someone nicked a pair of very old, very low waisted pink cord wide legged trousers from my car. They broke the window to get them. They were not a fancy brand.

My purse from my bag. Two women cooing over the baby and asking to hold her, really in her face. Didn't notice the third lady was stealing my purse whilst I was distracted.

A garden wheelie bin, twice!

My son's bins have been targetted multiple times when he's not been around to bring them in immediately after emptying.
The local authority has replaced them FOC several times but he's just had to pay to replace one.

Solmum1964 · 01/05/2025 16:27

Our back garden fence!
DH had been doing some welding on my car which caught alight and the garage and back fence burnt down.
After the new garage was erected he built the fence himself. We woke up a couple of days later and it had gone.
We believe it was a neighbour a couple of doors down because we'd asked him to quote for the work, but had no proof.
Replaced it again but doubled up on the nuts inside which made it more secure.
