Theme park queue jumping for DLP

Probably the wrong place to ask this but...

My DP wants us to employ a theme park queue jumper for when we go to Disneyland Paris in October.

I didn't even know these things existed?!?!?! 🤐

I've not been to DLP for a number of years but apparently it's a thing that people go with their disabled parents just so they can skip queues for rides and to see characters etc?

Can anyone corroborate this? It seems mad to me and beyond unethical.

Anyway, AIBU or should we really use someone like this to help us skip queues?

on the other hand, my husband can’t queue but you could never tell by looking at him, he looks young and physically in good shape. We got a lot of v dirty looks for having the disability pass but obv don’t want to give his full medical history to everyone to make them feel better! A lot of people do take the piss but a lot you’re judging probably have some more hidden disability. You don’t even get a disability pass at Disney Florida for being in a wheelchair anymore so that wipes out the most visible reason for having one.

As someone with two genuinely disabled DC who may no longer qualify for Disability Access Pass when we go to Disney later this year because they've clamped down massively due to shit like this, tell your DP he's being a selfish twat.

This is really bizarre! So you just have to go around the whole day with this random dude, Mike? It feels really awkward, I would rather queue than have to make small talk with Mike all day?!

I cringe when we just go into Primark with my Mum who does actually need to use a wheelchair and she’s able to just go straight to the disabled persons till and someone comes straight over to serve her leaving the queue of people who have been standing for ages .
I hate doing it and give a “sorry” look to the queue.
You probably won’t feel comfortable doing this either . It’s very uncomfortable .

BruisedNeckMeat · 23/04/2025 14:46

This “service” used to be available for Disney in Florida as well. So many people have taken the absolute piss with it that Disney have clamped down very hard on access to the disability scheme and now people who genuinely needed it cannot get approval.

That’s disgraceful and should be reported to Disney land. I’m a wheelchair user and as such get the pass to jump queues. I actually have no problem waiting, it’s just that often my wheelchair won’t fit down the normal queue lane or there’s steps, and theme parks have a one size fits all policy when it comes to disability. Autistic people don’t general need step free access, but they get it because I do. If there were someone behind me in the accessible queue who appeared to have the issue with not being able to wait for long, I’d happily let them go in front of me. I admit I quite enjoy being able to jump the queue, but I don’t feel particularly guilty about it because it’s one of the few situations where I actually get a small benefit, whereas most of the time my disability is a massive disadvantage.

As a disabled person (with a child with ND) people like your DP make our time at these places, HELL. He should be ashamed of himself and if he does this, it will be noticed by an employee that his relative isn’t going on many/any of the rides and you’ll all subsequently be kicked out. I’ve witnessed this happen at least 5 times in as many years. I’ve also been confronted when staff noticed that both myself and my DD have disabled passes and it was assumed that only one of us was disabled and that we’d been issued two in error. That was embarrassing and caused many head shakes but that’s beside the point.
Please, please educate your DP on how such selfish actions causes people like us, to have to stand waiting in pain and/or distress whilst perfectly capable fraudsters like him, help themselves to the front of the queue. Appalling

It’s a terrible thing to do. My sister took my severely disabled non verbal autistic niece to DLP and there were so many queue jumpers in the disabled queue that they legitimately joined , that a little boy who was genuinely very disabled and a few places behind her , missed his ride entirely . His mum had been trying to get him to understand the wait in the, albeit, shorter disabled queue . He was devastated and had a meltdown when they reached the front and the ride broke down. Yay for all the selfish gits who took his treat.

How do you know they weren’t disabled? I don’t ’look’ disabled, but legitimately use fast pass queue. I don’t understand how someone missed their ride, because they can just get on the next one?

Surely the people going with their disabled parents are just going on holiday with their parents?

Feels super icky. I can see why he's doing it, he's basically getting paid to go to theme parks. But I wouldn't want to hang out all day with a complete stranger, especially with my children.

Btw I don't know how it works at Disney but in the UK you don't "queue jump". With a ride access pass you virtually queue. For example, if a big ride had a queue time of 50 minutes you can use the ride access pass to get onto it faster but then you have to wait 50 minutes before going on another big ride. It helps disabled people who are unable to stand in a queue for a long period of time, but it's equally fair to everyone else who does have to queue. You have to pay for fast ride access if you don't want to properly skip queues which isn't what this man is offering.

Very frustrating for those people that genuinely need the queue passes for their disabilities that someone is doing this.

Obvs they are entitled to it due to their disability but to market it and attend on days not for them just adds to the issue. Especially considering Merlin you now have to pre-book the days and there is limited spaces available.

popandchoc · 23/04/2025 14:22

The person would have to go on the rides and you only get up to 4 people extra with the person with the pass. Seems a bit off to do it but people probably do.
