Hello everyone. I'm feeling a little desperate. I'm 6 week in. 4 week into my dose increase on 50mg. I'm feeling so so low and depressed still and I keep getting anxious and panicky. Is it still early days?

Hi OP sorry to hear this. The hospital is such a stressful place whether you have anxiety or not. Thankyou for updating us. Really hope you get a new level of breakthrough soon x

abracadabra1980 · 18/05/2025 20:24

Oh OP I'm sorry that's happened. I hope you are healing well... thanks for the thread update.

Hey OP-just checking in to see how you are getting on?

Hello thank you for checking in. Unfortunately I've not been good. I had a slight accident and ended up at a&e. I'm ok but it's been a week or panic and anxiety and hospital trips. So it's set me back. I hope you're well x

You’ll have the odd good day to begin with.
Then you’ll have as many good days as bad days. Then you’ll have hardly any bad days ❤️

Thank you 😊 x

Hello 👋 I have had a really rough week, however today has been a little better. I've seen some little (very subtle) improvements, my mum and partner have noticed too. I know tomorrow could be bad, but at least today has been a little brighter. This morning was awful still! I know it's early days still though and I have a review with my GP on Thursday. Thank you so much for asking 😊 how are you doing?x

I'm glad you feel supported, yes I've had some great support on here too. The GP will definitely see and hear a difference. One day at a time xx

Hi OP. I'm sorry to hear this. Sertraline is brilliant at reducing anxiety and low mood once its in the system but you will still feel the usual feelings in upsetting or traumatic situations. For example when my FIL died in a traumatic way I still felt all the appropriate emotions. Please try not to let it distract you from continuing. I do wonder if an evening dose might be better for you for facing the day. Maybe ask your GP?

We are here rooting for you x

Thank you. I have a review next week with my GP so I will mention about the daytime low mood and anxiety. Would taking it at night help during the day?

Hello. I received some upsetting News yesterday, and since then I have been in a high state of panic and anxiety. The doctor did say sertraline can increase anxiety and panic in the beginning and after upon a dose until the serotonin levels. I guess I'm just wanting to hear if the same happened for anyone?

ColdTofuSandwich · 01/05/2025 17:11

It’s quite common for anxiety to be at its worst in the morning - it’s when cortisol is at its highest.

I have always taken my anti depressants before I go to bed but they do effect different people in different ways

Hillsmakeyoustrong · 01/05/2025 14:56

Well no not necessarily. I think I'm trying to figure out why you feel better in the evenings. If it's because the meds have had time to kick in given they need replenishing every 24 hours but then are you sleeping though the benefit?

I take them at nighttime because they make me sleepy and at the beginning it meant I slept through the worst of the side effects. And I wonder if they are optimal in my system for the mornings which is when I was most anxious.

I don't think there is a right or wrong time tbh but you do have to take them at the SAME time. I really notice if I don't! X

I take my Sertraline in the morning and always have done but I take the quetiapine as directed at night because of the racing brain. My DH has just started Citalapram and I said to take it at night in case of side effects etc but the MH nurse said today to take it in the morning, I feel bad now but I thought it would be better. I just didn't want him to feel rubbish with side effects. Xx

Yeah I take them around 8am so Early morning around 6ish I feel terrible. So that would mean the tablets are nearly out of my system by?

But it's still early days so I'd stick with what you're doing and trust you'll feel the full benefits soon enough 🙏
