Is this selfish c***ish behaviour?

Friend gave my DC small Easter eggs, milk button ones. Yesterday DH learned I didn’t reciprocate the gifts and told me to buy her DC some and go round and apologise that they’re late. I said I wouldn’t as I’m doing chemo and I just don’t have the mental or physical energy for it. Friend knows I’m going through this. DH told me I’m selfish and behaving like a c*.

I’m so hurt. He hasn’t apologised, and his olive branch is to say ‘we’ll have to agree to disagree’.

His behaviour is terrible I can’t believe he’s spoken to you like that.

Motomum23 · 21/04/2025 15:42

Your husband is a real piece of work. If he feels so strongly about it he could go out and buy eggs. As it happens I reckon fairly strongly that I can speak for most women on here and say if my friend was going through chemo I might buy her kids a treat as I would feel sad for them having to witness their mum poorly and wouldn't expect a gift back in return.

OhCobblers · 21/04/2025 15:41

I would imagine this behaviour from your wanker of a husband is the tip of the iceberg?

Poppins21 · 21/04/2025 15:39

I would imagine your friend wanted to treat your DC and did not expect you to reciprocate as your going through chemo. She would be upset it has caused aggro for you as it was just a nice gesture for your kids.

Your husband is an arse hole though.

outerspacepotato · 21/04/2025 15:38

Your husband is a nasty sour asshole.

I'm sorry for your situation.

PonyPatter44 · 21/04/2025 15:37

That's a disgusting thing to say to anyone, but especially your wife and ESPECIALLY while she's going through chemotherapy. What on earth is wrong with him?

Edited to add- I'm so sorry you're ill and I hope you make a full recovery very soon.

Fairyliz · 21/04/2025 15:35

Blimey is this how young people talk to each other nowadays?
I’ve been married for 37 years and my husband has managed to never ever sworn at me. I might say that’s because I’ve never annoyed him; but that wouldn’t be true.
Hope your chemo is going okay op and you have someone in your life to fuss over you.

Maitri108 · 21/04/2025 15:34

I'm sorry you're going through chemo, that must be exhausting. Calling you misogynist names is the sign of a misogynist who has no respect for you. I wouldn't expect him to apologise as he doesn't care about you.

Hopefully when you're feeling better, you can do something about it.

Teacup40 · 21/04/2025 15:31

What a nob! Tell him most normal people don't give to receive. If he's so bothered about it he knows where the shops are!

Letsbe · 21/04/2025 15:29

He is being very unfair but you have far more important things to think aboit. I hope your treatment goes well.

doodoodahdah · 21/04/2025 15:29

HE can take the eggs round if it means that bloody much to him. My God!! How dare he call you a c* too, what is wrong with him? Don't do it OP, your friend did a nice thing and very likely didn't expect anything in return.

You don't have to constantly run around reciprocating everyone's nice gestures.

partygate · 21/04/2025 15:28

He’s horrible. Why can’t he do this if it means so much to him. But he won’t.

JHound · 21/04/2025 15:28

Why didn’t he buy them.

Dwells · 21/04/2025 15:27
