Husbands phone on silent

As the title says basically. His phone is always on silent. Every God damn day. Can never get hold of him and it pisses me off so much.

He just leaves it laying about on. In his pocket, on the settee, in the baby bag, on the fireplace always on silent. Nobody can get hold of him ever. They ring me or text me. He could be out in the garden for a few hours and dosent check when he comes back in.

It's not password protected and he leaves it in plain sight so there is no issue with trust etc it just pisses me off. I can ever get hold of him. He could be at work and just never comes back to me in a reasonable time in an emergency.

Can anyone relate

My husband hates this about me too! I just..
Don't really want to be contactable. I will usually see a missed call within an hour or so, because I spend far too much time mumsnetting, but if its urgent... no chance.

All I want him to do is check from time to time.

DH and I both have our phones on silent all the time. We check them relatively frequently but I hate the idea of being contactable at all times, especially when I’m at home.

Yeah i totally get that. I like to switch off on an evening etc but this is the second he wakes up until he goes to sleep.

My phone is pretty much always on silent. I do check it reasonably regularly.

He does not. He just leaves it where ever he used it last. I'm talking hours of a job here. If I'm out and need to speak to him, I get annoyed even before I ring him because I know he will just not answer.

I think our phones are making us more and more distractible. I keep mine off to aid my own concentration and I'm firmly on team husband's side here.

AnonKat · 20/04/2025 21:51

Mine is always on silent unless I'm expecting a call like my GP. I hate phone noise!

Gundogday · 20/04/2025 21:51

My initial thought is, good for him. He’s not addicted to it, although checking in once in a while would be a good thing.

if he’s at work, could you ring a work number and ask for him? If he’s in the garden, could you walk out to him?

ThePoshUns · 20/04/2025 21:51

My phone is always on silent as well.

Oops this is me 👀
I really like to disconnect from my phone to be honest however if I’m away from the kids etc will always turn it back on.
totally understand why it’s annoying 😂

I encourage no phone time at home for us both but this is every single second of every day. 🥴 my phone is on silent or vibrate when I'm at work but I always check it intermittently. He just falls off the face of the earth every day. 🤣

DH is the same. It’s mildly inconvenient but I’ll take that over a phone zombie disappearing to the toilet with it for 30 mins at a time like the other threads on here.

Emanwenym · 20/04/2025 21:49

I'm the same, @Couldntthinkofausername24 . When phones were pocket-sized I carried it all the time, but don't now.

FleaBeeBob · 20/04/2025 21:47

If I knew for certain my DCs were ok I would ditch my mobile.
