After death can you see what's happening on earth?

This is something I regularly wonder. Obviously none of us know for sure.

The phrase is "non-Jewish cock."

In fairness if my Jewish grandma found out about all the non-Jewish cock I’ve had she’d not be that bothered about the grammar.

Fun fact you can physically see (although unfocused) after death for about 10 minutes if your eyes are open. Your brain doesn't die instantly and keeps 'recording' for lack of a better term and it slowly fades out. However if its too bright (bright sun light, florescent light like hospitals etc...) then due to lack of focus you'll just see blinding 'white out' light (the light many near death experience survivors mention).

After about 10 minutes it will probably fade to black, alongside your chances of being revived.

amylou8 · 20/04/2025 18:32

Do you remember before you were born? Pretty sure dead is going to be the same.

Bloody hope not, my Jewish Nan would not be happy seeing all the none Jewish cock I’ve had!

In 1990 just after my grandad died Chris Rea brought out a song

“Tell me there’s a Heaven where all those people go”

I desperately wanted to believe in the afterlife but I didn’t. I thought when you’re dead - nothing!

in 1992 an older (70+ and very grounded) man I worked with said he saw a bird come close after his mother died and he said “that’s my mothet”. I just thought - yeah right wishful thinking - but thought discretion would be the better part of valour so I just smiled.

However, in 1998 the very next day after my own mum died a Robin flew into our living room, sat on the sofa, didn’t seem scared or nervous and after a while flew out again.

Since 1998 I’ve gradually become more spiritual and near enough 100% convinced there’s an afterlife because too many things have happened involving too many people who’ve passed.

when my dad died in 2014 in the first few months I’d thought be happy if I knew Dad was ok … but nothing. He died in March 2014 and in the July I was dealing with his estate on my own and finding it hard. I said “Dad, I’m finding this hard can you please give me a sign of support.” That very night I had a vivid dream about him - he looked me in the eye aged nodded and introduced one other person to me who’d passed in 1995 but Dad knew I was desperate for validation from - this person offered me much needed words of support. Dad seems to be meeting a variety of people up there he wouldn’t have met in real life!

3 days before Father’s Day last year - I wrote in my diary something I desperately wanted as there was something I was having difficulty coping with. On Father’s Day - it happened - I got that much wanted thing. Thanks so much Dad!! ❤️

Loads of other things have happened - this is just a snapshot

I haven’t heard from Dad since Father’s Day last year but omg I know he’s there! ❤️

There's some new and compelling evidence that rocks and other inanimate objects do seem to have some kind of 'consciousness'. As energy never dies, only transforms, in this universe if's very possible that we do remain in some form.

Where is this compelling evidence?

Llamo · 20/04/2025 18:29

I like to believe that once you die, your body returns to the earth but your spirit goes to heaven where you are reunited with the spirits of your loved ones who have gone before you. It's sounds very romanticised and in all likelyhood, doesn't happen. However, it gives me a little comfort.

Quantum physics is roughly 100 years old. Penicillin was discovered in 1928. Humans are new to the disciplines of the world and we don’t know anything. Those who tout their critical thinking skills should especially be careful not to indulge their hubris. Have some humility instead.

Humans don't know everything but they do know lots of things. There is no good reason to think we are anything after our deaths than dead.

If you could look down and see Earth, it would be pointless within a few hundred years because everyone you ever knew would be long dead, and everywhere you ever knew would be long changed.
And then there’s the rest of all eternity to get through.

Sorry but I think dead means dead.

Lascivious · 20/04/2025 18:23

Mediums and psychics are all charlatans. That, I do know.

TourangaLeila · 20/04/2025 18:22

No, on account of the dead thing

doodahdayy · 20/04/2025 18:22

If it makes you feel less scared of the inevitable then believe whatever you want.

Cosycover · 20/04/2025 18:19

Who knows. I veer towards no but I did see a medium once who told me something I honestly cannot explain. There's no way he would have known about it unless the dead person he was talking to told him. But honestly still not even fully convinced. I've never seen another medium and probably never will.

Iloveyoubut · 20/04/2025 18:17

PinataHeeHaw · 20/04/2025 16:55

What I mean, is are you aware what's happening on earth? I ask because of psychics saying that the dead person was aware of such a thing and was there with the family etc.

OP I don’t think anyone can truly answer that 100% we think we can based on science, science that can only be based on what we know and understand so far but no one really knows if there are senses or a consciousness that continue after our physical death.

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 20/04/2025 18:17

Nobody who's alive knows but I doubt it. I strongly suspect that when we die, the lights go out and we're done.

LillyPJ · 20/04/2025 18:17

Welliguessso · 20/04/2025 17:15

This is true the physical body decays and is no longer. ‘Seeing’ is however no longer the same concept it’s not just about eyes in the human form and how they function. It’s like comparing a camera and a sophisticated radar system . Totally different yet both ways to ‘see’ .

Edited

I wonder what you think we are apart from the physical or what part of us remains after we're dead. I don't know of or see any proof or evidence of either.

Hufflemuff · 20/04/2025 18:15

Another instance: My Dad was/still is really, the biggest skeptic going. However in the 70s or 80s his mum dragged him to a medium who draws pictures whilst talking about the deceased. There was no question awnser "reeling in" type that you skeptics might associate with mediumship.

It sounded to my Dad like he was describing his friend, more and more accurately. In the end, the guy turned his picture round and it was an absolute spitting image of my Dad's friend. He said it was like photorealistic good.

This was the 70s or 80s so we didn't even have the facebook/online Google stalking that we can blame for that.

Afriendlyghost · 20/04/2025 18:09

Woooooooh...yes we can.....woooooooh! (potters off in a cloud of ectoplasm).

Noperope · 20/04/2025 17:14

I hope not, don't want my dead granny watching me mastrubate 😬

I struggle a lot with the concept of death. I like to believe there is something afterwards but not heaven or hell. More like a return to the collective consciousness. Which it is really. Your atoms don't disappear they just get repurposed and scattered into the universe. Your light and reflection will travel out into space and could (theoretically) be viewed by someone thousands of light years away, long after your death. But I don't think we could ever be aware of the minutiae of what happens on earth after we die.

This is almost exactly my thinking, including the masturbation bit. 😅

FigTreeInEurope · 20/04/2025 18:07

I managed to misread "psychics" as "physics" throughout the whole thread, and thought you'd all taken leave of your sense.

Pippinsdiary · 20/04/2025 18:05

Hufflemuff · 20/04/2025 17:30

I think so...

I do believe in Mediums, I've been to a few different open evening things where they are talking to a crowd and you're kind of judging their "evidence" against how the person they're speaking with reacts. So you never quite know. However, a close friend lost her partner suddenly about 5 years ago and we went to a medium night as a few friends.

The medium was able to quote so many direct things word for word that we have spoken about in conversations after his death. Really random stuff too - unique names perfectly relayed, places very accurately described and so many things that just would not be relevant to anyone else at all. I'm not a sucker - we listened with the mind to be skeptical but it was so spot on.

The event was a pay on the door, no booking needed thing with no Facebook page - so there's no 'researching the room' taking place. We felt so strongly it was him, that the man's sister booked a reading privately for £50. However - he apologised and said that after 10 minutes he just wasn't getting anything coming through, so gave her all her money back and left. I feel like a con-man would have repeated the same stuff and drivelled on and insisted on keeping the cash. This guy was so adamant unless he can read you, then you get all your cash back.

I've been to about 10 different medium night things and I would say 4 were probably making up about 70% of the stuff they said. I think they have a gift still, but I think some are obviously better than others.

A very similar thing happened to me after I lost my boyfriend at 19. I went to this event with some friends in a different city a couple of years later, and i wasn’t planning to go, so no seat linked to my name or anything like that. I won’t go into details because if people don’t believe it they will be adamant of a way she could have known but what she said to me was impossible to know. I didn’t believe in that kind of thing before this but it did change my opinion of mediums and I think about it often

Fgdvevfvdvfbdv · 20/04/2025 18:05

I don’t think there would be much point in being able to see everyone when you are dead - it would be like torture seeing them suffer and not be able to do anything about it, or watching them move on without you.

I think if there is life after death it must be another realm/heaven rather than looking down on what you’ve left behind.

Cynic17 · 20/04/2025 18:04

No. Because you don't exist.

Frazzledmummy123 · 20/04/2025 18:03

OP, nobody can really answer your question, however I am open minded to the afterlife. I don't believe people who have passed 'watch' over us though.

I believe there are a tiny number of people who do have a psychic gift, but the majority (about 90 something) per cent of psychics/mediums are fakes. I went to a medium once and they said they had an older lady with grey hair coming through. They then asked me if my grandmother had passed over. I said "You are the medium, why don't you ask her yourself?" 🙄😂
