Suicide rates and being spoken out of existence

crunchynuts12345 · 19/04/2025 21:59

A lot of transwomen / people unfortunately won't survive this. Feeling like you're being legislated or spoken out of existence, especially when you're already part of a group at such high risk for mental health struggles and suicide, is devastating. It’s not just policy or rhetoric — it’s lived impact. Much like the way the awful section 28 law impacted gays - every time identity is debated like it’s theoretical or optional, it chips away at a person's sense of worth. It's so sad. You’re not welcome, not valid, not safe — can hit deep

@myplace "strategies" It's not a fucking coaching course!

Tell me you're not a therapist without using the words:

"I am not and never have been a therapist. "

Sortumn · 22/04/2025 06:51

What sort of therapist training did you have op? Were you trained that telling your clients they were being spoken out of existence and that people hated them was healthy?

MoistVonL · 22/04/2025 05:59

Or Frank ‘Kellie’ Malonie who throttled his wife in front of his two young daughters.

LittleBigHead · 22/04/2025 05:26

Neodymium · 19/04/2025 22:07

Blame trans women like that one at the rally last year who said to ‘punch terfs in the fucking face’. To a cheering crowd.

maybe if trans people had collectively condemned that kind of behaviour instead of encouraging it, then people would have more sympathy.

Or indeed the trans-identified man, Tara Wolf, who actually did punch a woman while she was making a peaceful protest in Hyde Park in 2017. Maria Maclachan was taking photographs of the TRA intimidation and violence and was punched in the face.

in court , the magistrate required Ms Maclachan to call the man who attacked her “she.”

There’s erasure and violence for you.

Keirawr · 22/04/2025 01:07

All this faux, teary eyed, fake empathy about ‘oh but won’t someone think of trans people’ is just boredom led activism by people who don’t have real work to do or real problems.

These same people are carrying placards on protests currently calling for Terfs to be harmed and killed. For JK Rowling to be burned as a witch.

And they expect us to buy their #bekind act. Jog on. Everyone thought you were dangerous batshits first. Since last week, everyone knows that you are pointless batshits. You are not activists, you are aggressors. But pathetic aggressors.

babybythesea · 22/04/2025 01:02

It is rare. But how many cases would it take to be unacceptable?
Katie Dolawski who attacked two children?
Or the videos online which show trans women masturbating in public toilets (women’s obviously) with women and kids present in the background. Clearly just getting a kick out of it (the TW that is).

Does it matter in sport that TW are no longer women?
I cannot for the life of me remember her name but the transwoman who broke her female opponent’s skull couldn’t now do that because she cannot fight as a female. Surely that’s a victory for women’s rights and safety?

Or the swimmers who have lost out to the swimmer Lia Thomas (I know it’s an American example) who was a mediocre male swimmer but suddenly a champion in the women’s races? Do those women not count either?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/04/2025 01:02

No one is buying it @crunchynuts12345- time to wind it down now.

Would you like a medal? Or a trophy? Of Pride of Britain award? What exactly are you looking for?

And what is your point? What have trans issues got to with women? Why are women responsible for trans mental health? Do you hold men responsible too? Do you lecture them equally?

Indeed. Women aren’t going to be the buffer for trans people anymore. It’s not our job. We’ve had enough.

Keirawr · 22/04/2025 01:00

Looks like OP has done their good deed of the day. Lecturing women on social media. Virtues must be signalled. #bekind

@SatanicAngel You’re telling me to fuck off because I’m worried people will take their own lives over this? That says a lot. What exactly are you afraid of? I genuinely don’t get it. For the record, I’m a woman — a big, raging lesbian and a therapist who actually works with people affected by this kind of hate. So yeah, I care. A lot

So if I can’t identify as a black woman because it would be offensive to an oppressed group (which I agree with BTW) why can men, as oppressors of women, “identify” into the female sex? Why are they applauded for using stereotypes to trivialise what it means to be a woman?

Edited

Agreed. And so did Fred Sargeant

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11231895/amp/Veteran-gay-rights-protester-74-1969-Stonewall-Riots-attacked-pro-trans-mob.html

A gay rights protestor and co-founder of the first Gay Pride Parade in New York City was attacked by a pro-trans group at a Vermont Pride event for holding an anti-woke sign that dismissed transgenderism.

Fred Sargeant, 74, was attacked after holding a sign with a red line through the phrases 'Woman Face' and 'Black Face,' at the 39th Burlington Pride Parade in Vermont.

Why are you making things up? What has women wanting to protect their spaces got to do with everything you have just projected.

If trans people have issues, they need to seek help. It is not women’s collective responsibility to take the burden and feel responsible for all of trans problems.

JandamiHash · 22/04/2025 00:53

crunchynuts12345 · 22/04/2025 00:51

@JandamiHashNo as a white woman, you cannot identify as a Black woman. That would be offensive and trivialise a minority identity shaped by generations of oppression.
@Firefly1987 They're just not hiding anymore
@babybythesea yes, that does sound very shit but very rare

I think trans activism sometimes derails the broader discussion. There are people who identify as trans who act out and are angry and hurt people yes. But this isn’t unique to trans people. Every marginalised group has been stereotyped through its most vocal or upset members, think of the “angry Black person” or “angry lesbian” tropes.

@Planetmonster Not asking anyone to fix it, just asking that we speak to individuals about their lived experience if we get the opportunity as the trans community will be feeling like shit right now.

This woman probably felt like shit too:

https://www.scottishdailyexpress.co.uk/news/politics/hospital-says-patient-could-not-26506744.amp

The woman who was raped by a transwoman while in hospital and then told for a year it didn’t happen, couldn’t possibly have happened because only women were on the ward (because “transwomen are women.”) A year. That would be traumatic beyond belief but would happen again if we insist TWAW and can have free access to women’s spaces.

I definitely don’t want to legislate anyone out of existence. But that hasn’t happened. There are still protections in place for trans people under the Equality Act. They just can’t come into a woman’s space if it is labelled as female only. That’s all. That isn’t the same as hating them or wishing they didn’t exist.
It absolutely is about saying that women need to be safe. If trans people don’t feel safe in men’s spaces then they need to campaign for a third option.
What I’d actually like is for people to be able to live however they want, dress however they want, without needing to label it ‘for a man’ or ‘for a woman’ but for people to respect the spaces designated for each sex. For sex to mean your biology and gender to mean dress how you like and enjoy whatever it is you enjoy without encroaching on anyone else.

Hospital says patient wasn't raped because alleged attacker was transgender

The incident has drawn attention to the impact of self-ID in hospitals and other institutions like the police with Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne calling on Westministers Lords to scrap it.

Firefly1987 · 21/04/2025 23:59

Trans people have been around for decades so I don't understand why so many problems have come about in the past 10 years or so. What did trans people do before? No one had any issue with them until they started trying to erode women's rights.

popefully · 21/04/2025 23:50

mswales · 21/04/2025 21:24

I used that term specifically for the audience on this thread. I would never ever refer to myself as a biological woman in the real world. I would say cis woman but I'm well aware of what reaction that would provoke on here!

But you used the word woman to differentiate yourself from a man. Do you think there are any differences between a woman and a man? As in, do you believe that a man is a (male or female) person who .... whereas a woman is a (male or female) person who.... ?

It keeps the money making machine going to propagate the suicide agenda. I think it's as simple as that.

I fully agree.

JandamiHash · 21/04/2025 23:36

crunchynuts12345 · 21/04/2025 22:51

You're the ones making all the drama over changing rooms and imaginary toilet scenarios. Honestly, it’s like being in an old people's home with a loud tv repeating the same advert every 7 seconds.
Most of you shouting the loudest about this have probably never even had a conversation with a trans person You're talking about people you don’t know, based on fears that don't hold up in the real world.
So again how is this personally affecting you? What exactly is being taken from you? Because from here, it just looks like you're uncomfortable with someone else existing differently than you do. And that’s not a valid reason to deny anyone dignity.

Edited

Toilets are really the thin end of the washed. Most of us have spent years being gravely concerned about hospitals wards, prisons, DV shelters and sports. My DD is a boxer - why should she ever have to step in the ring with a man?

What exactly is being taken from you?

Privacy, safety, dignity, language, freedom of speech. Well not anymore as this ruling has adopted common sense. Trans people DID take from us for years because the interpreted the law their own way

Can I ask you OP: what is a woman?

And I’m a white woman - can I identify as a black woman? Can I black up, adopt stereotypes, join black-only events and tell everyone how I’m just like them because I feel black? If not why not?

JandamiHash · 21/04/2025 23:33

crunchynuts12345 · 21/04/2025 22:46

What you're describing isn't truth, it's your belief about sex and gender, presented as if it's universally agreed upon. It isn't. The idea that recognising someone's gender identity is "lying" says more about your discomfort than it does about objective reality. My question is what makes you so uncomfortable? It's weird!!

Telling a man that he’s a woman is lying.

JandamiHash · 21/04/2025 23:33

crunchynuts12345 · 21/04/2025 22:38

@MrsOvertonsWindow Unlike you, my colleagues and I actually work with and know trans people as individuals not as some abstract threat to be feared. We listen to their experiences, support them through real struggles, and see their humanity every day.
What’s truly irresponsible is spreading fear and misinformation about an already marginalised group. History will judge that kind of rhetoric harshly and rightly so. The world is moving forward, and views like yours are not just outdated; they’re becoming indefensible. The NHS agrees. What exactly are you so afraid of? It’s SO weird.

So tell me: how will giving unfettered access to TW in female spaces improve suicide rates? They’ve been barging their way into our spaces for years and according to you the suicide rates are high. So what’s not working? And why should women be collateral damage in the process?

JandamiHash · 21/04/2025 23:30

crunchynuts12345 · 21/04/2025 21:40

@Serencwtch Just like Section 28, the law massively lags behind lived experience. And just like then, the justification is “protecting children.” Section 28 claimed it was about shielding young people, but all it really did was silence and isolate queer kids.
How many children were actually protected by being forbidden to even hear the word “gay” in school? And now, decades later, we’re watching the same narrative recycled only this time it’s trans women being cast as the threat.
So here’s the real question: How many children have been protected by the idea that trans women are dangerous in public toilets? And how many have been harmed by the fear, shame, and stigma those claims create?
Fear has never been a good foundation for safeguarding. But it’s always been a very effective tool for spreading hate and division

@NineLivesKatSo in your view, therapy should be more directive? Less about listening to someone’s lived experience, and more about telling them to "toughen up" and get on with it? That's not really how therapy works.

Trans people are protected and recognised by law.

How many children have been protected by the idea that trans women are dangerous in public toilets? And how many have been harmed by the fear, shame, and stigma those claims create?

If you think children have been harmed and stigmatised by the trans movement take it up with TRAs

You might want to look into the number of sexual crimes committed both by TW and in public toilets

JandamiHash · 21/04/2025 23:27

crunchynuts12345 · 19/04/2025 22:20

@Leafstamp What narrative am I pushing, exactly? I’m not. I’m just saying — see the individual, not the movement. Same thing I’d say to a racist: don’t reduce people to a group you’ve decided to fear or hate. Start with basic humanity

Right back atcha. Women were just trundling along in the world when men decide to try and nab our liberties, as per the norm. We didn’t start the fight, We simply fought back.

JandamiHash · 21/04/2025 23:26

crunchynuts12345 · 19/04/2025 22:16

I’d just say — try to see the individual. I know emotions are high, but the vitriol is a bit ugly.

Forget 'the movement', the crowd, there is probably not an agenda. Just a person, with a life, and fears, and relationships, and a story you probably haven’t heard yet. That’s where empathy starts

Where was the empathy for the last decade for women who don’t want men in their changing rooms, hospitals wards and prisons? Did you see the individual when you read about the women raped by TW who had been granted access to them?

I could see and be friend with 1,000 TW - they will never be women and never be entitled to my spaces. I have lots of lots of male friends who I don’t invite to be in my space because that’s not the terms of my friendships. Access to women’s spaces isn’t a reward for being a nice person or good friend. The fact so many men see access to women’s spaces as a prize, given if you work hard enough at “womaning”/calling people bigots/throwing your maleness around, speaks volumes.
